    • recharge $80 worth or just activate the sim pack or if your are already on a plan with optus ask for the unlock code for free.

      Don't bother, just use an Optus MVNO such as ColesMobile.
      Optus has a habit of crippling their phones so as not to work well on other networks, even when unlokced, e.g. disable 850MHz band.

      • Unlocked mine and I noticed I had no reception inside a shopping centre so how do I check, what app can I use to check frequencies I have access to.

        • are they able to disable band 28 remotely via their network?

    as others have said in other threads, if you want to unlock it you will need to do so via optus. a few of us have had success via web chat.

    first try putting ur imei in here

    you should get a message back saying it isn't an optus locked device - which isn't true.

    go thru web chat, say you want to unlock the phone. tell them you tried the online portal and got the above message
    you might get asked to fill in a form and provide an account number or w.e
    say you aren't with optus and just need the phone unlocked, use whatever reason you need (say you bought it to use with what you thought was an optus MVNO and its not being recognised or w.e)

    you shouldn't get too much push back, they gave me the code for free
