I'd say the Amex gold qantas with 90k points is a much better deal. With the added benefit of not being anything to do with Kogan

    • +5

Sure, but gotta churn something in the 18 months in-between.

(Although preferably something with a bonus a little more enticing than bloody Kogan store credit 🙄)

      • I thought kogan credit would be useless but ended up buying a bunch of stuff for the wife, a lot of stuff there is overpriced but hey, it doesn't matter if you're using free money

    • +3

Yes there are better deals out there worth your credit check. The ANZ rewards deal which I still have I think is the best non QFF right now.

This has something going for it - $1500 minimum spend, no annual fee, Kogan first free membership, No fee for supplementary cards. Caveat is it’s Kogan credit. Which may not be too bad since Kogan sells everything and you get free delivery because of Kogan First.

Yes not for regular churners maybe but good enough for a hit on my wife’s credit file.

    • -2

added benefit of not being anything to do with Kogan

    • You'd hopefully churn that and the anz black prior to this one.

Still this has its merits, free money is free money

  • Eligible Transaction means any purchase excluding (but
not limited to) Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special
    Promotions, BPAY payments…..

  • +3

What's everyone complaining about… $400 worth of alcohol, delivered free lol

    • Lol. Now you have given me an idea on what to spend the credit with.

The low $1500 in 90 days spend limit made me take the time to post the deal. I thought it will be useful for everyone since it's so easy to achieve. $125 eligible spend per week. It will be very hard to find someone with expenses below that.

      • +1

And kogan doesn't seem too fussy with approvals, got rejected for ANZ but kogan was approved pretty quick

  • +2

Got this card last time around, it's great. No annual fee and Kogan First, plus accrue points pretty worth money off pretty quickly after the initial bonus

Only downside is no Google Pay

  • +1

Did this for the $500 voucher last time and got a dyson v10 for $200… Pretty happy with the card, hasn't cost me anything and I accrue points enough to buy goodies every now and again off Kogan.

  • +2

Took out the introductory offer when it was $500 credit for $900 spend. To be honest the application process was simple (citibank) and easily met the spend goal with the money showing up some 30 days later.

Yes it was hard finding something worthwhile buying on kogan but i eventually found some stuff that i needed.

And for all those complaining about dealing with kogan if anything you should be taking out this card because its a chance to finally get a return on the pain they've caused everyone else

  • Has anyone tried canceling and reapplying less than 12months and qualify for the bonus credits recently? I cancelled my Kogan cc 3months ago, wonder if I could re-apply and get the bonus credits.

    • +1

I actually called them three weeks back asking about this exact same question. They confirmed that it is NOT a condition for you to not be a Kogan card holder within any past period. In my case, I would be eligible for the sign up bonus if I literally cancelled my card, and signed up again immediately.

That was during the last promotion that expired at the end of June, although this new one looks like it has the same terms and conditions so it should still apply.

An odd choice on their part but yeah, I'm just waiting to finish churning my HSBC before I sign up to this again.

  • +1

Tried to apply this almost 2 years ago and got rejected. Trying it again now and it will get approved this time, finger crossed.

  • How rigorous is the application process?

    • Same question. With covid have no stable income at all

  • +2

$400 credit and Kogan membership for free… why not! and definitely better than the $250 paypal deal in my view.

  • would paying back BNPL services count as 'spend'

  • Take a while to get the credit. Up to 10 weeks.

  • WTF I just got rejected again, after talking with their application support guy on the phone & sending them whole lot of documents.

Should I ask them why my application was rejected? Already having a Citibank card — would that be the reason?

    • Hi Scotty! =] I’ve had 4 Citibank-issued card at one stage (1 premier from old signature fee-free for life, 1 premier Qantas, 1 Coles and 1 Kogan), so I don’t think that would be the main reason.
Don’t forget to put rental income (if any) and I normally put living expenses to a minimum.

      • I've already sent in my full tax return + notice of assessment. OzBargainer level of living expenses & haven't been in debt for 10+ years.

I am not on salary though, as OzBargain pays me fully franked dividend and the amount is dictated by the accountant. I would think many self-employed people would be in similar situation. This is annoying.

My wife has also been trying to apply for ING's credit card as she got the targeted bonus offer, but application got thrown back as "expense is too low". What?!

        • That sucks. They must not like people who are self-employed.

  • +1

Does anyone know the minimum credit limit? I stupidly said "just give me the max" and now I have a $30k credit limit that I don't particularly want.

    • +1

      Minimum is $6k

    • +2

Should be easy enough to lower it once activated. I think they all have to give you the option to lower limit and close the account online now.

  • Anyone know if the kogan credit is transferrable?

  • Got rejected - first time ever.. Have good credit score. I have already planned what I was going to buy for the $400… :(

    • Did you get rejected instantly?

      • If was a day after I submitted my pay slips and employment contract

        • Ok thanks … see how we go today ………

  • Is the first $50 given to you as long as you use the card in first 30 days?

    • yes and then spend $1500 in 90 days to get the other $350. If you will struggle to spend $1500, you can always get woolworths or coles vouchers. As long as you pay off the full balance, completely free $400

  • anyone know when will the credit reach our Kogan.com account ? i hit the 1.5k minimum spend a couple weeks ago, but haven't received the credits yet…is it similar to other credit card deals, whereby it is on the next statement date ?

    • Did you get the credit? I am too waiting for the credit after the required spend
      Thanks

      • 10 weeks :D

      • nah i haven't gotten it yet , although should note that I am still waiting for my first statement. in my previous experience the bonus usually gets activated on the statement date, although it may be different for Kogan.

        • Ok thanks, still not received the statement yet, will set a reminder. Waiting for the HSBC bonus as well statement received and due/being paid next week.

          • @PerthectDeal: FYI I received my $400 credit (came in 2 separate emails on the same day, one for $350 and one for $50) yesterday. i met the minimum spend about 5 weeks ago. this isn't my statement week.

            • @k2k8k5: Interesting. I received my $50 voucher and first statement today. I made the initial spend about 3 weeks ago. I thought I had hit the spend for the $350 voucher before the statement, but turns out one of my transactions was considered government related.

        • I received the $350 and $50 today as well.

          Also got first statement today.

About 4/5 weeks since approval and first spend. Pretty decent I reckon. Even though I still don’t particularly like Kogan as a company.

          • @Cucumber123: you are quite lucky.. i still havent received my $350 been 2 months

    • 10 weeks after the spending

  • No exclusion period I can see.

  • Does anyone know if there's a timeframe on using the vouchers?

    • They expire 12 months after they are applied to your account

  • Anyone get a balance transfer and can comment on how long it took?

Did you need to do anything other than the initial sign up process?

  • Offer extended to 31st August 21

  • How long until you get the credit? and how are they sent to you?

Met the minimum spend but haven't got anything yet.

    • Got my 50 after 2 weeks
it says the rest will be given 10 weeks after spending is met

      • But how do you get that 50?

        • +1

Have you linked your Kogan account? It should just show up as credit.

  • +1

    Signed up last night,
Kept failing to upload payslips and i gave up
Woke up to approval this morning.

Feels like Citibank are really stepping up their credit card game.

  • Are purchases outside of the Kogan website considered 'eligible purhcases'? i.e buying groceries from coles for $1,500 gets you the $400 kogan credit?

    • +1

Yes, they will be. It's just like any other credit card out there.

      • Awesome! Thanks for confirming that!

  • $350 credit arrived today. My second statement came yesterday, and I hit the spend requirement within that month.

This, plus the $100 from the Amex deal, the $50 welcome credit, and the ~$50 credit from card points means I have $550 to spend. I just need the item I want come back in stock, and hopefully at a decent price.

    • +1

Ended up buying the product I wanted elsewhere, and splurged with the credit on a bottle of Octomore and Limeburners Darkest Winter that I both love, and would never spend my own money on.

  • Does the credit remain in your account if you can the credit card? Also is there a 12 month waiting period if you reply to get the bonus money?

  • Still waiting for Kogan to offer $500 credit.

    • You can apply now, get the $400 bucks, cancel the credit card and then rinse and repeat if they are still offering this deal. Check T and C's though because last time I checked there was no 12 month waiting period. Also subject to your credit score or whatever metric they use to approve applications.

      • But if you cancel the credit card does the $400 credit goes away if you don’t use it.

My plan apply and spend $1,500 get $400 credit then cancel and reply and get another $400 or whatever the offer is then I would have $800 to spend when I want

        • Not sure but last time I used it in case they took it away from me. YMMV.

        • Yes I will use it before I cancel. And if you cancel, you might lose Kogan First so there goes free shipping.

  • +1

Kogan told me this promotion is for new customer only… after confirming I was eligible. Nothing in terms and conditions. Filing AFCA complaint.

    • That's crazy
I might be in the same boat
Applied in April and still no Kogan credit as of now, the Live chat rep said Sept 27 I should get it

      • I had the exact same situation. I lodge a complaint and then they told me I wasn't eligible

        • Looks like I'm in the same situation and been rejected after telling me that I should be getting it on 27/9/21.

I signed up back in April and seems like it did have 'New customers only' clause. Might be the same in the July one.

          • +1

@Kuma: Possibly also same boat here - I applied for the $400 deal back in April and still have not received the credit (the 90 days plus 10 week period has just passed). This would be the 3rd Kogan card I had (and I received the credit fine on the second occasion) so consistently with most people here my recollection is there was no exclusion re previous cardholders.

Annoyingly didn't save the Ts and Cs from that point in time but even reading the above link which is probably reflective of the older terms - it says nothing about defining what is a "new" customer. If you previously held the card but closed it are you a "new" customer if you reapply later?

My understanding based on other Citi-issued cards is that every new application is treated as a new customer even if you previously held the same card. If a bank wanted to exclude previous cardholders they would do so unambiguously in a separate clause e.g. "customers who have previously held this card are ineligible". That is what the newest promotion page now says "If you have previously held a Kogan Money Credit Card, you will not be eligible for this offer." But this specific line was definitely missing from earlier promotions - you can look up the promotion page using Wayback machine from March 2021 etc.

  • As per previous comments above, appears they are now cracking down on multiple churns:

"Thank you for waiting, I apologize for the long wait. I do see that a previous officer has confirmed the credit and that required spend has been met, however upon further review the account itself is not eligible to receive any further credit promotions since our credit offers are only for new customers. This means, if you have previously held a Kogan Money Credit Card, you will not be eligible any current offer."

Have requested this be escalated, will keep everyone posted.

    • +1

Yes please do keep us updated
Mine's also been escalated and they said they'll contact me in 3 - 4 days
I remember for our offer when we applied there was nothing in the Promo offer or T&Cs that stated it was for New customers only or excluded previous customer who had held a CC with Kogan before. I wouldn't have really applied if I saw that exclusion as it's one of the reasons that entice you back to the card

    • After several follow ups to the live chat (available in the Kogan Money app), have received the $400 credit today. Good luck to all and be persistent!

  • anyone haven't got their $350 still?

  • +1

I signed up to this in April promotion and looks like the T&C does say 'New customers only'

    https://www.koganmoney.com.au/kogan-credit-card-400-switch-w…

Not sure if this is the same case for the July promotion but must have misread the whole T&C.

    • That's unlucky for me too then, I must have misread it as well
I wouldn't have applied if it said that, I was pretty sure it didn't state this but can't do much about it now

    • Yeah, think they've updated T&C's to specifically say Not eligible if previously had card.

This offer is for new Kogan Money credit card customers only and cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotions or offers. If you have previously held a Kogan Money Credit Card, you will not be eligible for this offer.

  • Has anyone saved a copy of the April promotion T&C's link that @Kuma posted above? It did not mention that customers who have previously held Kogan Credit Card are not elegible (new T&C's specifically mention this). The page was active until yesterday and when I went to save a copy today, it is no longer available and seems Kogan have purposely removed it now. Would appreciate if someone can please provide a copy as it will be helpful to fight the case.

I am in the same boat as other and have raised a complaint last week and now waiting to receive a response.

  • +1

I signed up for this in June. There was no restriction on previous customers back then, but today I got a call saying that I wasn't eligible for the credit because I'm a previous customer.

Here's a copy of the page from May. No mention of the restriction to new customers.
    https://web.archive.org/web/20210517024108/https://www.kogan…

If they've changed the conditions after you signed up for the card, then that's grounds for a complaint.
There's information about how to log a complaint here:
    https://www.koganmoney.com.au/credit-cards/important-informa…

  • When do you actually get the Kogan credit? Meant to have a $100 for first spend but it's been over a month.

    • @demiurge did you manage to get it?

    • Also keen to know if you've got it. Wonder if kogan, as a credit card reseller, is any gd in managing the bits after they get you to sign on with them.

My general experience is Amex are the best, followed by most master credit cards from the big banks. Visa combo with a lesser known retailer (or citi) ranks among the worst…

  • Got my application approved over a week now and still no credit card in the mail.

Anyone know if they provide a digital credit card you can use before the plastic one arrives?
