First time deal posting here, you can be harsh if you want. :)
Bought one last night and thought it's a good deal to share, so I came back to share.

This is a twin pack deal so having 2 camping lamps for $20.99 is not too bad.
You will need rechargeable batteries, but I believe Ozbargainers should have plenty of Eneloops handy.

    • Bought one last year and it works great - have used it a few times out camping and haven't had any issues.

Keep in mind the light is very bright. I got this to use in the tent and it gets close to blinding my eyes. Good thing though is that you can open up the lamp as wide as you need, so I just keep it tiny to reduce the brightness.

      • Do you know how many hours can it run on fully charged batteries?

        • +2

Not sure as I haven't actually needed to recharge / swap out the batteries during a trip. My most recent trip I camped for 5 nights (approx. 3 hours usage per night), so 15 hours and still going strong.

      • You mean there is no brightness 'modes' just open and close the window per needs?

        • Correct on/off only

@scrimshaw That's some serious cherry picking you've done there with the comments and facts, "very high failure rate"??!!
There is 2,104 ratings at 4.5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐stars, that is a very high rating for a product with over 2,000 ratings.
Only 5% of ratings were 1⭐star or 1 in 20 people, 86% were 4 or 5 stars, over 1,500 people gave it 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐stars!!
They also offer "5 YEAR WARRANTY + 30 DAY 100% SATISFACTION GUARANTEE"!! You don't like it, send it back.

You need to be aware many of these are paid reviews. If you join the private facebook groups you'll see a lot of no-name amazon items are being offered to buyers for free on the condiition they leave behind a minimum 5 star review. Do also keep in mind that the ratings are a global rating (meaning they take into account reviews from Amazon USA, EU etc)

So, why am I "cherry picking"? I can explain why

If you click to view the seller's feedback profile: They have a total of 27 ratings, with 81 percent positive. The Herobeam store only sells 1 product. This means that all of the ratings they received, are for this one product only.

Out of the 27 ratings, 7 of the feedback indicates that there were issues

Which is why I said the failure is unacceptably high.

Not going to neg the deal in case someone else who has bought the product can refute my findings but I think it's best for people to know what really goes on behind the scenes and how easy it is to farm overwhelmingly positive reviews on Amazon products.

What about reviews from amazon uk.

          It looks more convincing?

@Unacceptable: The ratings on one particular product can be made extremely high because they are multiple sellers doing the same thing, they start their own private facebook groups and then recruit "expert product reviewers" who basically do a full time job of writing reviews for lots of white-label products, and in return, get a full refund of what they paid (essentially a bribe to write a 5S review).

The product then gets featured on the front page due to Amazon's algorithms and preference for highly rated products. All of the sellers who sell this item benefit from doing so. The money they paid to reviewers is essentially their marketing budget — they don't have to buy ads if the reviewers are already doing the job of pushing products to the Amazon front page.

It's one of the main reasons why Amazon expelled a lot of white label brands on their platform. Popular brands like Aukey, Mpow and even Taotronics, one of Ozbargain's well known amazon merchants, have been deleted on amazon for the same issue https://techcrunch.com/2021/05/11/chinese-products-get-pulle…

  • Shipping kills it

Not when Amazon prime exists 😁

      • Not of use if you don't buy a lot of stuff in a year…similar to the annual Costco fee…if you only buy a few things it increases the cost dramatically.

        • +1

You make back the cost of Costco membership just by filling up your cars within a 3 months. 😀

        • +4

Ozbargainers a must have membership I think Amazon Prime membership is the best IMO eg. next day delivery, Prime Video, free Kindles, easy and hassle free refund process etc..
