  • /r/headphones swore by these but I wanted something more closed back for work :(

  • These cans have the same set of drivers as the HD 660S, these are definitely worth it at this price.

    • Source for that claim?

I'm mistaken, the HD 6XX's I'm currently using have the same drivers as HD 650/600's. These HD 58X's are tuned to have a similar sound signature to HD 660S but, notably, resolve a little less detail.

Although, this is still a great deal for these.

Thanks Op, bought! also got $10 USD off for first purchase when signing up to Drop.
I already got a pair of these last year from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/543330 and was kicking myself for not getting another pair.
Out of the box they sound a bit muddy, a bit of masking tape or electrical tape covering 2/3 of the breather/port hole behind the drivers after taking the grille covers off cleans it right up and gives them a sound signature somewhere close to HD600 but with deeper bass (without that mid-bass hump) and cleaner, more pronounced treble - more like a HD660S.

  • Have a pair of these I got from Drop last year.
Great set of cans. One of my preferred sets in the collection behind my Oppo's, and a couple of others, but they are a whole nother level to these.
Be mindful they are 'open back' though. So everyone can hear what your playing.
You will want to get an amp to power them. Not really a set you want to run from your phone only (although you can drive them, just not to their potential).

Are they now shipping directly to AU? Last year there was a restriction on Drop sending these to AU. Needed to send them to a forwarded in the US. Lucky I had some other stuff waiting to ship over.

    • I believe the restriction last year was because Addicted to Audio struck a deal with Drop to be the sole Australian reseller of the 58x and 6xx.

      • Could be. i did see they were selling them also.

  • I got a pair of these a couple years back and really had to force myself to use them. I just found they were a little boring and warm sounding. I'm definitely no audio expert but i enjoy my Audio technica ATH M40x's and my koss porta pro's way more than these headphones. I ended up selling them on ebay and got a message from the buyer telling me he thought they were a bit boring to listen to as well. Each to their own for sure and headphones are so personal but i thought i'd let people know my experience with them.

  • Paypal wants so charge me like $9 currency conversion fees

Set PayPal to charge you in USD and let your bank/CC handle conversion fees instead

      • rip, already purchased :(

  • Received these on the same day this deal was published. Decided to check ozbargain after seeing the price drop just then :(
Hopefully they do some form of price protection, otherwise having used gaming headphones previously i am extremely happy with these.

    • Saw some comments over on Slickdeals (us deals site) mentioning getting a price match with customer support if you've bought one recently

      • Just waiting for response now thanks

  • Thanks OP, Bought! been wanting and holding back a long time on these, but the price drop and $10 off coupon referenced above pushed me over the line. Have needed to replace my semi broken HD595's for a while

  • Does this come with 3.5mm cable

    • I believe so, the HD6XX did at least

  • This must have ended, the price was back to $170 (USD) yesterday.
