  • 5G?

    edit:

you can find it here: https://www.optus.com.au/prepaid/plans/flex

    7GB data

  • Do I need a physical sim to get the free esim trial ?

    • No

      • Then how do you get past the screen that asks for the sim number on the app? The process is a little confusing on their website and app.

        • Any luck..?
          Seems like optus app sucks

  • Sounds great for a backup eSim if you recharge $1 for one day

  • +1

    Effectively $7 discount

    And no 5G

When you cancel a eSIM do you have to wait for the carrier to disconnect it or is it all done on the handset? Don't want to try the trial and then have to muck around trying to activate my phone on a new eSIM in the future…

do they do a credit check for this? is there any cash back via cash rewards for this trial?

  • Anyone using this purely just for a new number, if so what apps or sites do people use it for?

  • So $30 per month hardly a deal. Can u choose a new number?

  • Thanks op. it looks like its prepaid so i may give a go. so after 7 days can you cancel the payment and keep that number activate for 6 months? can you uninstall a esim from phone and keep re signing up for a new esim number on the same phone every 7 days using other family members my account app.?

  • +1

Thanks OP, got one, have used a flex service before.
@coolsteps I only know that you can cancel the service and the number stays active for 6 months

    • Hi, which part is saying the number stays for 6 months after cancelation?

      • Hey, after you cancel your subscription, under usage section you will see text like this.

“ Your credit's expired. Recharge now to continue
using your service. You must recharge within 156
        days to keep your number.”

This is from a current line that I have.

  • If you go to the Optus app, go more, get a new service
Select eSIM and it’ll say 7 day free trial.
You then fill out some details and away you go.

  • Has anyone been able to get an eSIM though the Optus App on Android? I just installed the app and can't find any option to get one

    • You have the latest version?

      As above by cloudmonk:

If you go to the Optus app, go more, get a new service
Select eSIM and it’ll say 7 day free trial.
You then fill out some details and away you go.

      • Version 7.0.1 on Pixel 4. Fresh install of app, followed that procedure and nothing. Checked all menu options, nothing. Used the app on my wife's iPhone 12, I can see the option.

Do you need to register an Optus account first?

  • Damn, not for ports

    • It says you can contact customer care and they can organise the same deal for port ins.

      • Webchat wouldn't let me do this quoting the terms and conditions.

  • Do you have to setup a new account for this?.I can see that I'm getting charged $7. I have an optus account already (NBN).

  • Just gave it a try and was easy as. Not even an existing optus customer.

First time using the esim functionality on my phone, free for 7 days not bad at all!

    Cheers op.

Also confirmed, you can cancel the plan within the app, no dramas. It didn’t charge anything to my card. Says line is active for 7 days as per sign up.

  • Are you able to download the eSIM immediately after you place the order? Every time I try to download the eSIM, it is showing an error on my Pixel 5.

    • I get this too. Samsung S21 Ultra.

  • Can somebody run through the process on Android

  • For anyone who does not have a compatible phone, but an android wear OS watch supporting esim.

You need to know how adb works and installed on your PC.

Download My Optus App from here :

    https://m.apkpure.com/my-optus/au.com.optus.selfservice

    One downloaded rename to Optus.apk

then enable developers settings in watch, Enable USB debugging.

    and then Run :

    adb install optus.apk

Working fine on my Galaxy Watch4 Classic LTE
