expired Jetstar Credit Card $0 Annual Fee (First Year) Bonus 20,000 + 10,000 Qantas Frequent Flyer Points
This was posted 1 year 2 months 27 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal
Was looking for new card with ZERO annual fee promo and bonus QFF points and this appears be largest bonus points on offer with bonus $0 for first year.
mod - Note the deal talks about both a platinum credit card and a regular credit card. It's the platinum that gets the $0 annual fee for the first year

Actually you get more points with the Amex Ultimate card. http://www.americanexpress.com/australia/frequent-flyer-card...
Comes with up to 30k points plus you can get an extra 5k when someone refers you to the card.

Also Citibank Emirates is also waiving the first year fee - no upfront bonus points, but it is 1.5 miles per dollar.
michael_123 on 21/02/2012 - 15:37 ¶True. But you have to take into consideration the $250 fee for first year and $450 per year after though. Depends on your spend as to which is better.

…And most merchants seem to charge a higher fee when you use an Amex card. You'd need to take that into account when comparing this Jetstar Mastercard to an Amex plastic fantastic.
…And I didn't look at the APR. You'd need to think about that as well if you don't pay off the full balance every month :-(
+1 votepowerhammer on 21/02/2012 - 15:51 ¶Worth noting that the 10,000 bonus points is only if you spend over $5,000 by 31 May 2012.
+1 voteAlso worth noting that unless you have the $5000 in cash to pay for the spending, you may well end up paying more in interest than the bonus points are worth. Take a look at what the quantity of QFF points will buy and price the equivalent flight …… special prices only - as being ozbargainers we always look for the specials. lol
If you can't do that, then it might be wise if you're taking up this offer, to settle for just half the points - those that you get for simply getting the account.

And if you apply and are approved for the Jetstar Platinum MasterCard you will pay NO ANNUAL FEE for the first year with the Qantas Frequent Flyer Rewards or Jetstar Dollars option!(5)
What's the min credit limit for platinum? cause Jetstar MasterCard only comes with 5k according to this
+1 voteaccording to below link minimum credit limit for platinum is $8k

Are you able to cancel at anytime e.g. before the end of the first year, so you dont pay annual fees anymore?
And when you cancel will there be any cancellation fees?
Cheers.
In other words im asking, if you have the card for say 6months, get the free frequent flier points, use the card a bit and make the re-payments before the end of your due date, then basically you are getting those frequent flier points for totally $0 (free)?
lonewolf_860 on 21/02/2012 - 20:05 ¶thanks op Gonna sign up for this asap
Reminds me i need to cancel the ANZ one that i got 16000 point from last year before the annual fees kick in.

i am reading the small find print……….
5. The annual fee for the primary Jetstar Platinum MasterCard will revert to $149 after the first year. The $39 fee for each additional card will still apply.Does this mean they will charge u $149 in the first year and in the 2nd year but only credit one of them… like if u cancel in the first 6months… u wont get the credit at all!!
+1 votelonewolf_860 on 21/02/2012 - 21:26 ¶"revert to $149 after the first year."
After is the key word there. So 149$ AFTER the first year.
+4 votesnot a bad deal but you if you need to spend 5k to qualify for the points then i would buy some coles or woolies gift cards. btw the Qantas credit union visa platinum card is a better deal you only need to spend 1 cent and you get 30k point and the first year annual fee waived. though im not sure who issues their cards hope its not citibank? for more info see http://www.qantascu.com.au/credit-cards-visa-platinum-credit... maybe worthy of a new post on here?

the qantas credit union card seem to be a better option, in terms of obtaining the free 30K FF points.

+3 votesAustralianpickers on 21/02/2012 - 23:03 ¶Be Careful with the BALANCE TRANSFERS as you will pay the credit card rate on the money you transfer if you make a purchase using the card! (normally this is the cause with all the balance transfer I had done in the past)

Jetstar balance transfer conditions:
- You will not be eligible for interest free days until the Balance Transfer ("BT") amount is paid in full.
- Card Services ("We") accept Balance Transfers ("BT") of $500 or more from banks, other financial institutions and store cards, to transfer to your Credit Card Account ("Account"). At all times we reserve the right not to process your BT.
- You are unable to transfer BTs between any Macquarie Bank or Card Services account and your Account. Foreign currency BTs and BTs to offshore accounts are also excluded.
- BTs will not be processed until you have activated your Account. We will transfer the balances specified by you to your Account, in full, subject to $500 remaining in your available credit limit. Should your BT request exceed this amount, we will contact you to receive further instructions to enable us to process your request.
- Repayments to your Account are applied to BTs first and are treated as a Special Promotion under your Account Terms and Conditions, with balances subject to a lower interest rate being paid off first. BTs will attract interest from the date of transfer. BTs do not qualify for any reward points or benefits.
- Please allow 5 days from the date your Account is activated for transfers to be finalised. You should continue to make payments on your other accounts, in accordance with their Terms and Conditions, until you receive a statement from them confirming that your account has been credited. We will not be responsible for any payments (overdue or otherwise) or any interest incurred on your other accounts. Any remaining balances on those accounts after the BT are your responsibility.
- BT promotional interest rates are only valid for the period stipulated in the offer you have accepted.

11.Making purchases on a balance transfer card
This is one of the most expensive credit card mistakes if you have a transferred balance still to pay off. Any new purchases will sit accruing interest at the standard rate untouched until your cheaper debt is totally paid off.
And from the t/c on the jetstar website:
- The 0%pa interest rate applies only to balances transferred with this offer at the time of application from the date the account is approved. Minimum repayments are required. Transferred balances will be repaid first. Discounted interest rate applies to the balance transferred for the first 6 months from the date your account is approved, and then reverts to the standard variable interest rate for purchases which is currently 19.99%pa for the Jetstar Platinum MasterCard. Subject to change and Card Services credit criteria. For further details refer to the Balance Transfer Terms and Conditions.
ChaseTheSun on 21/02/2012 - 23:42 ¶Australianpickers,
Since you are familiar with balance transfers, can you confirm that:
- If you make a purchase on top of the balance transfer amount, this purchase will still have the usual 55 interest free days??
- However, what ever payment you make after the 55 days will go towards the balance transfer amount first, which means if u dont pay the full balance after 55 days, u get charged interest on the remaining amount, irrespective of whether this is the balance transfer amount or not. Can you confirm this?

Can you confirm this?AFAIK this is NEVER the case. If you have an outstanding balance on your credit card, regardless of how it got there, (ie, balance transfer or purchases,) on the payment due date, there IS no interest free period, and there won't be until you pay out the full amount prior to a payment due date.
As an aside, there are credit card reforms coming into place in July of this year whereby (on new accounts from that time) any payments you make will be applied to the portion of your balance whith the highest interest rate first. There are a few accounts already in existence that do this - NAB gold being one of them.
While this in a great idea in theory, I think it could have some freaky effects on balance transfers if a good effort is not put into eliminating them before the low interest rate expires, as any spending is going to come off the balance before this is touched, so there could be a higher amount having the cash advance rate applied after that time.

Annual fee for regular MC is $59
Anyway…great find…thanks OP!
Will spend the $5k to get the bonus points, cancel it and go back to using our Woolies credit card (which also gives 1 point per $1)
Also, be aware that there's a points cap - 25k for regular MC and 100k for platinum -> just in case you were thinking of putting a Ferrari on the card and then realising you don't get 300k points. ;)

From http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/program/terms
"If a Member does earn or redeem any Points after 30 June 2010, the Member's Points will expire three years from the date of the Member's last activity before 1 July 2010 or 18 months from the last date the Member earned or redeemed Points after 30 June 2010, whichever is the later."

I'm glad some you have found this be worthy post as for my personal circumstance I currently have Citi Platinum card that I signed up previously for 60k bonus points (ozbargained :P) which will revert from $1 to 1 QFF to $2 to 1 QFF from 31st March hence why I'm looking for a better card and that not being an AMEX as I've already have one these.

hideandseek on 22/02/2012 - 07:44 ¶I want the points! but I am in the middle of switching jobs :( Just put an application through, today is my last day so hopefully it is processed today!
bolt_krank on 22/02/2012 - 08:40 ¶If you cancel the card after say 6 months, do you lose the points ?

Is this a targetted offer or available to everyone? The URL link points to it being an email offer and linked to the email it is originally sent to? I know previous jetstar card offers have been targetted?
Edit: NVM, jetstar have a media release regarding the bonus offer.
+1 voteHas Jetstar changed the terms and conditions since this posting because I can't find anywhere that says the first year annual fee will be waived? Someone above pointed to Condition 5 but that says
5.The annual fee is currently $59 for the primary Jetstar MasterCard and $9 for each additional card, and $149 for the primary Jetstar Platinum MasterCard and $39 for each additional card.

You can still get the 20,000 points with eligible purchase and if you spend $5,000 before 31/03/12 a further 10,000 bonus points will award to you.
Question here is I may only need the initial 20,000 points but is there any amount limitation of "eligible purchase"?
Also, can you cancel it anytime by complete using the 20,000 point?
If anyone is a CPA member here, check the Amex Platium Edge Card which give you a domestic return flight every year, 3-2-1 reward program (which can reward upto 3 Aemx point for every $1 dollar spent) and annual fee only $99, plus spend over $500 by first two months and receive $250 David Jones gift card.
+2 votesGuys, hold up!!
Just rang 1300 150 100 and the customer service officer said if you click the apply link from the website here http://www.jetstar.com/au/en/creditcards/jetstar-platinum-ma... which takes you to here https://www.cardserve.com.au/jetstar/creditcardapplications/... you won't get the annual fee waived.
The link needs to be clicked from the email received. From the original OP's link (which was the email..now changed to the website) it takes you to here https://www.cardserve.com.au/jetstar/creditcardapplications/...
The offer codes in the links are different!
Could do they email matching to see if you are the original recipient of the email? So you think you're getting the annual fee waived but then get hit with a $149 fee!!
Can someone report this post using the report link? I can't report again as I already reported that the OP's link had his email address in it.

Correct…the lady said the offer was sent to Jetmail members only, ie they have the annual fee waived whereas the normal offer on the website does not. It would be good to confirm if another recipient of the email shows the offer code in the apply link as A324632 - full link… https://www.cardserve.com.au/jetstar/creditcardapplications/...

I reported it as it had the OP's email address in it.
You'd think that they wouldn't use a different code for each email address nor check email addresses for the applications so the annual fee should be waived.
If someone can confirm that the annual fee was waived and they didn't receive the email, that'd be great!

This is the original apply link from the email:
https://www.cardserve.com.au/jetstar/creditcardapplications/...
I copied it before the OP link was changed.

Oh Actually! I have the original link! I forgot I had a tab opened in FF!
here it is:
http://email.jetstar.com/pub/sf/FormLink?ei=EsuuH3404zOUyz21MPXLycs.&ri=X0Gzc2X%3DWQpglLjHJlTQGjrnGCzbuPzgdR9NTeAlzd0Kea7zaRNAlzbBgFOMhlOVXMtX%3DWQpglLjHJlTQGrzgAR8tEzbiGokGzeeqzcjvk627zaRNAlzbBgFOMhlO

That's in the email link (which doesn't work anymore) :(
I think pasadala is talking about this link… https://www.cardserve.com.au/jetstar/creditcardapplications/...

What the? This link? http://email.jetstar.com/pub/sf/FormLink?ei=EsuuH3404zOUyz21...

+1 votethis offer seems to be targeted so there is no guaranteed that you will get the first annual fee waived? can someone who applied via the link confirm when they get the card if its in fact waived? most people except for kimzie, seem to have missed the tip i gave earlier on : "the qantas credit union card seems to be a better option, in terms of obtaining the free 30K FF points.
