I prefer the Protog deal, given that you have Australian warranty and also the Australian plug as standard

  • can you still get 10% off using WPDCX ???

    • You get about $3.50 off. Better than a poke in the eye with a blunt stick.

Is a very good charger and will best suit families who want simple and good charging with the added benefit of the 'refresh/conditioning' function. 3yr warranty and local support.

Is all but identical to the 801 model, which just has double the charge rates. The vaunted C9000 is more of a 'prosumer' model - and for folks (like me) who just are happy to pay a lil extra for more bells and whistles + info on the process.

Is a very good deal, I have to + this.

  • I posted the previous c800 deal but would have preferred this for the extra few bucks to keep it in au or Warrenty issues. That was my biggest concern.

  • Personally waiting for http://protog.com.au/maha-powerex-c808m-ultimate-pro-charger… to come up at a decent price.

  • How much is shipping?

    • Rates to Sydney:

      Australia Post eParcel (0.7Kgs)
      Registered with Tracking $10.95
      Express with Tracking $12.95
Registered with Tracking & Insurance $12.45
Express with Tracking & Insurance $14.45

      Australia Post standard postage
      Parcel Post (not insured) $9.95

      Local Pick Up $0.00

      • Australia wide shipping price by the look of it, or free pickup in Mitcham.

If only that was Mitcham, SA :-P

        • +1

          lol i wish :)

  • Just noticed that the c9000 is dropped $10 as well, down to $69.95…

    • That price was like that when I looked at it yesterday. Not sure when they actually dropped it.

    Afternoon Fellow Ozbargainers,

After that eneloop frenzy yesterday Jeff from Protog has created a special discount code just for us!

Use code OZB212 to get an additional 5% off (in addition to the current $10 off) on chargers.

The code is valid until end of month…

    Let's get charging!

    • aaagh! Ordered a bunch of stuff from them yesterday!! About $130 worth!!

      • Damn….same here ordered the c9000, bummer. Only got the 5%v via Whirlpool.

      • Jeff is a pretty nice guy, email them and see if you can get another 5% off ;)

    • Where do you enter the code? Under Gift Voucher -> Enter Redeem Code? That did not work for me.

      • +1

Yeah neither code works for me so I decided to just skip it and order from the U.S instead.

        • It was working an hour ago…well the OZB212.
          Not working now though..

  • Have just ordered it for $72.57 AUD delivered, coupon WPDCX works! thanks for sharing the coupon!

5% OZB coupon will give you $3.20
WPDCX will give $3.82 discount (I used this one) :-)

    • +1

      None of the code works?

      • Actually both codes will give you the same discount, my bad with calculation.
You will see the enter the coupon after you go into paypal payment section, so its kind of right at the end before you hit confirm.

        • So I have to pay using paypal first before I can apply the coupon? It's redirected me to paypal without even applying any code!

      • OZB212 working now. Just completed order paying with CC.

  • Kaal, yes that is correct it will take you to paypal, do your authentication and you will see continue and I think then it will take you to another page to select postage method, it should on that page or the one after… it will be in middle of the page to enter coupon, but make sure you apply this before you hit final confirmation.

    • It made me pay $63.94 without redirecting me to enter coupon like you said. I'm cancelling the order now and asking for a refund.

Jeff emailed me after I asked for a refund and offer to discount me 5% off. Sounds like a great guy and great service.

  • Has anyone tried paying with CC? It doesn't seem to accept the promo code.

    • E-mailed Protog. Haven't received a reply yet but promo code OZB212 seems to be working again.

  • Looking at buying one of the battery chargers from Protog and just wanted to know if anyone knows which
brand of the AAA rechargeable batteries is the best to get from their site.

    Maha Powerex AAA 1000mAh

    Powerex Imedion AAA 950mAh

    Eneloop AAA 800mAh

    • Forget the regular Powerex batteries. Get the Eneloops or Powerex Imedions. Both of those are Low Self Discharge batteries, and are pretty much equivalent. The Eneloops are probably a little better if you're using high discharge equipment, but the Imedions have a little higher capacity, so will last a little longer.

      • Agree, for AAA applications, the IMEDIOn are better. The only exception would be an LED torch, which is very high drain. If you were using it every night, the Powerex would be (slightly) better

  • So does all have the same Circuitry?

    eg Maha Powerex MH-C9000 WizardOne + Maha MH-C800S 8 AA/AAA Smart Charger

Does the Maha MH-C800S 8 AA/AAA Smart Charger do the battery prep that last 3 days as well?

    • +1

No, if you need the analysis on 8 cells, you need to buy 2 x MH-C9000 :)

      • +2

        welcome to OzBargain land :)
can you please do further discount on Maha Powerex MH-C9000?

        • We are low on stock of the 9000, so we wont be offeering further discounts right now. Maybe another month.

  • I'd be a little wary of the mods to charge C and D cells, since the C9000 has temperature sensors that sit against the cell to monitor temperature during charge. Probably only a small risk given these larger cells will be charging at a fair bit less than the "C/2" rate, but then aggain I did have a dud AA cell go into thermal runaway in my C9000, which caused some damage.

Also thanks to protog for supporting ozbargain, and thanks to my fellow ozbargainers for running him low on C9000's - everyone's a winner on this deal !

    • I agree, C's and D's are much larger cells, and are much less likely get hot from a 2000mA charge rate, unless it is a low quality or dud cell. My advice when charging cells you are not familiar with, is start slow and build up. There are a lot of very low quality batteries on the market which may say 2700mAh on the outside, but you will find when you measure the 'real' capacity in the MH-C9000 that it is only 400mAh-600mAh. If you charge dodgy batteries at 1000mA or 2000mA, it cant handle the charge, and a chemical reaction starts, and they get really hot, and by the, even the thermal sensors of the MH-C9000 cant stop the cell from leaking. Ive only seen this happen 5 or so times in 5 years of selling the MH-C9000, and always with a AA battery i have never heard the brand of before.

  • Argh missed this.

I already have the C9000 Wizard One purchased from Protog - I'd like the same charger with all its functions but in an 8 cell version…

Does that mean I want the Maha Powerex C808M Ultimate Pro?

    • No, it suggest you watch the comparison video on our product page, which explains the difference between each charger. The MH-C808M is like a MH-C801D that has extra terminals to be able to charge C and D cells. There is no C and D cell charger that can analyse the cell like a MH-C9000.

If you want to charge 8 cells and want analysis, then you need a second MH-C9000.

  • Would anyone know if this deal is going to run again?
