i have visited my local kmart several times this week. everyday they have stockpiled the clearance table with anything from clothes to electronics to fishing gear - all either surplus stock or in torn boxes etc - for about 70-90% off.
sure some of it is not the best brands, but if your looking for something specific, then the discount department stores are worth a visit.
i wanted a vacuum cleaner for a one off job, expecting it will die under the dirt & filth it picks up.
found one for $20.
i wanted to replace the dvd player the kids use, and found a home theatre system for $20. one speaker doesnt work - i didnt want the speakers.
there were boxes and boxes of fishing bits - hooks, sinkers and various bits to attach various other bits, all 50c a packet - normally a few bucks.
yes most of this stuff is junk, but theres a few bits worthwhile too.
