  • This is super tempting!!! B28?

    • +3

      Yes

      FDD LTE: Band 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/18/ 19/20/25/26/28/29/30/32/41/66/71
      TDD LTE: Band 2/4/5/12/26/41/46/48/66/71

  • +3

Good phone. Only 'but' is no VOLTE in Australia, there is an online workaround but you need to run it every update. But great phone.

    • -1

      Gday mate,
I wasnt sure about this so i google a bit and this is what i found

All three of Australia's carrier networks support VoLTE. Telstra was the first carrier to launch VoLTE for consumers on its network, with Vodafone and then Optus enabling the service on their networks in late 2015 and mid-2016 respectively. - finder

      Also this phone has
      HD Voice Capable
      Yes
      VoLTE Capable
      Yes

      • +6

No VoLTE/VoWiFi on Telstra/Boost out of the box.

There is a workaround - varying reports of success -> https://whrl.pl/Rf910x, and https://whrl.pl/Rgfai7

      • No, it's a two-way street - the phone needs to support it, yes, but then the telco setting has to be loaded onto the device and communicating with the telco to approve VoLTE. Basically, it's usually only working for devices with Australian software. As others have said there is a workaround to manually load those details but with limited success and it has to be done every update.

Telstra in particular is a pain point, Vodafone and Optus are not as strict and may work out of the box running OxygenOS.

    • +1

Yes there is & has been for awhile, I have it on Optus for a couple of yrs now.

    • I don't think you need to run it after every update (previous op7t pro user).

      • It's a bit of a lottery. Sometimes an update wipes the workaround, sometimes it doesn't. (Current OP7T Pro user)

        • I'm on Boost. I've had to re-run it every update, doesn't take long but its not something your average user would want to do

    • I haven't needed to reapply the fix on my OnePlus 6 after any of the recent security updates

    • +1

VoLTE is supported by the phone, but no carriers in Australia support VoLTE on OnePlus by default, since this is not officially sold in AU?!

Similarly VoWiFi is very helpful if you have coverage issues inside buildings - eg, home or office and is on WiFi.

Also note that Telstra is pulling plug off 3G network in 2024, so you will then need a phone with VoLTE
      https://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t5/news-feed/goodbye-3g/…

"change to newer devices if they have a 3G only device, or a 4G device that doesn’t have Voice over LTE (VoLTE) capability"

  • Hi rep,

Does this come with the original Red USB C cable? Also what are the specs for the included PD charger, can it go up to the phones max 30W?

    • +1

No it doesnt include the red cable. It includes type c 3.0 cable. Ill check the PD charger output for you.

      • Thanks. Upvoted deal already regardless of outcome.

        This is a tempting deal.

  • +1

Volte will not work in Australia for any OnePlus phone , the software does not exist on the device

    • +1

According to "adinico" above it does and he says he has the phone.

      Is this from your experience?

      • Idk even know what VoLTE is, I have a OP5T atm, and always get 4g+ and get 40Mbps down surely i dont need more that then with wifi everywhere

        • +1

agreed I was a very happy 7T user for a couple years and didn't have one problem with the phone and while I was worried bout VOLTE before buying the thing absolutely flew….. good device… only changed as I went for a smaller phone (iPhone 12 mini, but now looking at ZFlip3 as I luv the small phone but hating iOS other than camera quality)

          • @benbarren: 'hating iOS other than camera quality'

I take lotsa pix with my iPhone 6s+ and am pretty happy with that camera quality

can you compare the camera quality on this bargain vs the iPhone 12 ?

I wouldn't want to go backwards given the camera quality is important to me.

uh - ok - read below - looks like ship - so NVM thanks.

    • There is a workround online.

    • +1

Not entirely true, since it can be done, but out of the box it does not.

  • +2

What does 'refurbished' mean? New battery?

    • +2

Cleaned and data wiped, that's all.

      • +2

yes and tested via phonecheck software for functionality

        charging port
        BT
        wifi
        screen touch
        sim card
        volume and power buttons
        backlight brightness test
        loudspeaker test
        ear piece speaker grill clean
        ear piece test
        front and back camera
        fingerprint test (if available)
        mic test
secondary mic test via camera app
        test via phonecheck software
        data wipe
        headphone jack

        • +11

Oh, so battery can be a bit of a mix bag then :/
No OnePlus support here in Oz , Oppo not taking OnePlus phones in :/

          Still thanks for sharing OP

    • +11

      oh… no new battery… :(

      • +7

yeah this is actually the most important thing, if the battery can no longer hold the charge then the phone is useless!

        • +6

Even more important as this phone has warp charge and battery can be EOL must faster than usual.

          • @umadbrahhhh: That's actually not true. All phones by reputable manufacturers (like OnePlus) manage fast charging such that only the first 0-70% (give or take) receive the full wattage after which it's throttled down as lithium-ion batteries begin to naturally resist charge past that point. Because of this, fast charge and non-fast charge phone batteries degrade at essentially the same rate.

        • unless its been used for 6mths

        • I've had mine since January 2020. Anyone who knows me knows I thrash my phone. Battery health is still at 90% according to Accubattety.

  • +1

Does it come in an original box? Usually OP come with the clear cases

    • no doesnt include clear case. includes tempered glass instead

also comes in our phonebot white box

  • +1

Have a OnePlus 7T, purchased new for $590 at the start of 2020. Great phone, only downside being the camera, will probably upgrade to a Pixel 6 if they're not crazy expensive.

    • How has the battery been faring in your use case?

      • +1

Yeah perfect, I'm a pretty heavy phone user and very rarely end my day with less than 15% battery. Though I do always toggle WiFi / Bluetooth / Location / NFC on and off as needed.

    • Camera is great with gcam installed.

Group on telegram for gcam: https://t.me/gcamOP7

  • +5

Had a OP7T, personally it has not aged well at all. Camera is shocking, updates are slow, Android 11 introduced bugs (90hz would stop working and you'd have to go into settings to reset it). I'm waiting for the new pixels and I'll probably jump back on that.

Honestly nowadays, I wouldn't get anything other than a Samsung/Google or Apple phone. Sick of manufacturers updating their phones for 1-2 years before it becomes waste and they no longer care to update it or fix bugs. While Samsung/Google/Apple might have some of these issues, from my past experience its not as bad as other manufacturers.

    • I think if you dont want a Chinese phone, thats all you are left with.

    • Havent faced a single problem that you mentioned. I dont know ehy prople are going on about camera, I think its good or I just might be the great photographer.😀

      • +3

I agree with @puzzles2 RE: the camera and slow updates, I've never had an issue with it switching from 90hz, though they did take away forced 90hz from developer options in one of the updates which sucks.. I definitely wouldn't buy another OnePlus in the future, I've had 4, used to be a good company with great software and updates and relatively independent of Oppo, now they're one in the same in my eyes.

      • +1

Had the 7T since release and the latest OOS 11 is pretty decent. Wouldn't have recommended people to update to 11 from 10 before this update.

    • +2

The Pixel 2 XL had so many issues from the onset right through its 3 year life with me that it's largely put me off the Pixel range. Samsung annoys me that it constantly tries to reinvent the wheel and force you to use their duplicate feature that just isn't as good. With their flagships going the way of Apple it's never a good sign either.

Sick of manufacturers updating their phones for 1-2 years before it becomes waste

You do realise the OnePlus 6T is still getting updates right?

Have only had a OnePlus 9 for 4.5 months but there's been no issues so far. Only thing I don't like is that they're merging Oxygen with ColourOS so my next phone might be an Oppo.

      • You do realise the OnePlus 6T is still getting updates right?

Yes I do, however the update has come nearly 1 year after its release. OnePlus says 3 major OS updates and 4 years of security updates for flagships, same as Samsung. Hopefully rumors are true and Pixel 6 gets 5 years of OS updates.

As someone who has owned a OnePlus flagship since its release, from my experience your first few months are good. Once the OnePlus 10 comes out see if your 9 gets updates as frequently. Chances are you'll constantly be 2-3 months behind on security patches.

        • Hopefully rumors are true and Pixel 6 gets 5 years of OS updates.

Honestly this is not a selling point to me because seeing my Pixel degrade so much over 3 years I can't stand the thought of keeping it around for 5. The only positive is it might increase the resell price if I sold it without mentioning the issues it had accumulated.

I'm fine with 3 years OS and 4 years security updates because that's as long as I need to keep my phone. If my OP9 is not showing signs of age by 4 years I'll be incredibly impressed.

      • +1

Even the OnePlus 6 just got Android 11 :)

  • This is great price bought mine 1.5 years back for 650ish, superfast, smooth, no network problems, camera is good not great, better than any iphone camera for me though.

  • +1

I've had my op7 since launch , battery is still holding change for the day easy, never had a problem with any op phone , and I've had every one . They are fantastic phones for the money .

  • +3

7T user since Nov 2019, great phone, no complain.

  • pretty sure Oneplus USA has an event oneplus 9 50% off? brings it to the same as this i think?

    • +1

When you purchase a OnePlus 9 and open a new line with T-Mobile at the time of purchase, you’re entitled to receive $375 USD, or half of the phone’s price, in the form of 24 months bill credits.

      Not quite the same.

      • +14

Not to mention the poor T-Mobile reception here in OZ.

    • You can get the 7T for US$199 via the app, but can't install the app here either.

  • Single Sim by the look of it

    • It's definitely dual sim :P

      • It says single Sim in spec. I hope u are right though

  • +1

This or Poco X3 Pro for about the same price?

    • that's what I was thinking as well

    • Using Poco atm & really enjoying using the phone. Pretty bang for buck for a high performing phone.

    • +3

If you get it from a reputable seller like Amazon then Poco X3 Pro. You'll get a 2yr Amazon warranty.
I got my Poco X3 NFC from Amazon UK for $350. I run a custom ROM, crDroid and with Google gcam camera it feels as good as a Pixel phone. Not for everyone as installing a custom ROM requires some skills.

  • -1

    no microSD slot :(

  • +12

IMO should not be listed as refurbished. From the reps explanation they should be considered used.

    • Yeah what refurbishing have they done? Checking that it still works?

      • +1

The only value added service I see is testing via software (whatever that is) and including 12 months warranty.

  • Got one OP.
    Thanks a lot. Good phone.

  • +2

Mine arrived today … condition is great … however, PSA - these are branded T-Mobile, so have the T-Mobile firmware … which means preloaded apps, and the T-Mobile start-up logo when turning on. Yes, I am sure there are ways to circumvent this by changing the firmware, but I would think that this should have been advised on the product page, or mentioned at the point of sale. Not happy Jan …

    • +1

Yeah that's not ideal, should be able to flash the global rom, but that's a pain for most!

      • Agree - I would say that it is quite deceptive, not in the OzB spirit.
