    Shame about the colour.

Nice colour but actually so hard to justify the extra work over simple aeropress inverted method.

      that's two different drinks tho

Do you ever manage to obtain crema from your Aeropress inverted method?

      • No. But the overall taste is fine. There was a point where I was obsessively watching 870 and 920 prices but the amount of trial work involved to get a decent cup IMO was just too much.

        • Wtaf is aeropress inverted?? I thought I'd done my due diligence on the express and pro and was ready to jump in and now this term..

As a counterpoint, I picked up a 870 during lockdown late last year. It took me about a month of brewing one coffee per day to start getting good at nailing a shot. Now I'm able to dial in new beans fairly quickly and using the machine has become quite an enjoyable process in and of itself. Nice morning ritual!

As the comment above me noted though, the Aeropress and the BES produce very different drinks.

          • @poppingtags: This is correct! Can’t vouch for the machine but the first time you use a home set up for both machine and grinder it will take a bit of time.

As a rough guide for machines Buy yourself some cheap beans from Coles (like $5 for 250 grams) and by the end of the bag you should have worked out the settings on your machine and grinder. If you want cheap beans that are actually drinkable get the 1kg bag of Aldi medium roast.

        • Well after a month of mucking around, you will be entirely comfortable, and be able to make really great coffees compared to aeropress

    • I found the milk frothing from the inverted method a little lack lustre.

  • Beware…

It is out of stock already in Myer.

Most probably it will end up with cancellations.

I just posted on the other Breville all in post here is a Sunbeam Barista max at 315 delivered…check your targeted promos cos I got 5% more off.. so 300 dollars ..Only one left so I cannot post it as a deal . I have no idea why the Breville is priced more but at 300 dollars including a burr grinder I'd say this a better deal. Mind you BES870 is a "pro" model which if you deem worthy of your money by all means go for it but do leave a note for the less initiated . And as a footnote ..for black coffee Aeropress does an extremely good job ..I know because I own one and I talk from taste so I am not sure whether the crema thing is any good or marketing bs as is with most coffee stuff. Anyways here is the link if anyone is keen.

    • The Barista Max is generally classed as an inferior machine.

  • Aeropress is trash. Chalk and cheese. Buy this.

    • well you'd better hope it would be at 20x the cost LMFAO
