Foxtel T&C's stipulate only 1 person per room…

For $10 per month extra, you are allowed another person.

lol - logged in just to upvote this comment :D

      • Remember the good old days when you use to be able to "borrow" your neighbors Wi-Fi without them knowing? No chance of being able to do this with Foxtel Now? :-)

    • Yes, your partner or flatmates

    • +5

You can register 5 devices, but only 2 can watch at once. So yes

    Foxtel Now - $49/Month

How is that a bargain ?

    • +2

Considering the cheapest anyone can get the equivalent on standard Foxtel is $89 - fairly solid bargain. IQ5 box coming in October can also stream in 4K.

      • -1

equivalent on standard Foxtel is $89

        This isn't standard Foxtel though.

        • +6

JV, you could easily go to Foxtel Now's website and look this up but to save you the hassle, the standard monthly price for these packs is $106.

If you buy Binge and Kayo separately, it's not much cheaper - if at all - depending on what options you choose.

            • +2

@jv: JV, are you the official ozbargain deal police or are you self appointed? Should we check all deals with you before posting?

          • +3

            @p1owz0r:

If you buy Binge and Kayo separately, it's not much cheaper - if at all

Kayo is currently $5 per month and Binge is free for 6 months.

            • +2

@jv: Not everyone has access to this pricing

              • -7

                @crackman:

Not everyone has access to this pricing

Maybe, but I wouldn't be paying any more for these services.

                • +1

                  @jv:

Binge is free for 6 months.
….but I wouldn't be paying any more for these services.

That's about what Binge is worth. Even the kids got bored after a few days.

                  • @M00Cow:

Even the kids got bored after a few days.

Have they watched all the 'Desperate Wives' episodes?

            • @jv:

Binge is free for 6 months

That sounds good! Do you have the link?

              • @No:

                Do you have the link?

It was on my Telstra account.

                • +14

                  @jv: Oh, I don't have a Telstra account.

I already told my kids they are getting Binge for 6 months and now they are crying and will have trust issues for the rest of their lives. Thanks for that.

                  • -8

                    @No: Get a Telstra account then…

                    • @jv: What about if I got a Optus account instead and ask you to share your account?

            • @jv: Where is Kayo $5? That's a sweet deal if you have the link?

              • @GOMOOTYPRO:

                Where is Kayo $5?

Telstra customers earlier this year.. valid for 12 months.

      • IQ5 box coming in October

Is that for cable or satellite?

        • Cable internet ;)

          • @MBix: I thought NBN were acquiring all the Telstra cable?

        • Considering IQ4 is satellite only, I'd assume IQ5 will be too.

          • @shockme79: It'll be set up for streaming too, as Foxtel doesn't want to have to upgrade all their cable connections to satellite…

            • @MELso:

Foxtel doesn't want to have to upgrade all their cable connections to satellite…

It is a seriously long cable to the satellite so I completely understand their position!

          • -3

@shockme79: Don't want satellite. It doesn't have all the channels.

          • @shockme79: IQ4 isn't satelite only
That's just what they tell you

        • +2

Foxtel will be satellite only one they finish migrating from NBN cable

          • -1

            @spaceflight:

            Foxtel will be satellite only

So there will be less channels ?

            • @jv: Why would there be less?

              • @spaceflight:

                Why would there be less?

Because there are less on satellite than on cable… Call up Foxtel and ask why…

                • @jv: There are not less channels. Both cable and satellite have the same Foxtel channels.

                  • @spaceflight:

                    There are not less channels.

There are. I confirmed this with both Telstra and Foxtel.

                    • @jv: No you didn't.
The Foxtel channel lineup across both technologies is the same.

                  • @spaceflight: As far as I know, you don't get all the free to air channels on satelite

                    • @Flyerone: That's correct, as I said there are not less channels. Both cable and satellite have the same Foxtel channels

            • @jv: IQ5 will give you two options, IP or Satellite. all channels will become ip channels

              • -1

                @zmcgr1:

all channels will become ip channels

                Including Free-to-air ?

                • @jv: don't know, i think that is up to the FTA channels. i know the issue with not all FTA channels being available on satellite is that they don't have agreements in place for the missing channels and both sides seem not to give a shit about it.

                  • @zmcgr1:

and both sides seem not to give a shit about it.

People that use cable to access FTA will give a shit about it though…

There are plenty of back spots for digital FTA coverage around Melbourne.

The apps from the TV channels do not stream everything that is on FTA.

                    • @jv: i agree, it really isn't that hard to work it out and everyone is happy. it annoys me much more than it should that i can't see every channel on the foxtel box.

also, the 1-2 games of sport in 4k per sat/sun is dogshit. almost every tv truck in Australia is capable of 4k.

                    • @jv:

There are plenty of back spots for digital FTA coverage around Melbourne.

Oh cool. Could you share these locations as I live in a black spot and can't get FTA.

                    • @jv: If we had FTTP like we were supposed to then FTA TV was going to be sent over that and there would be no FTA over antenna.

Instead we have a mix of NBN technologies and TV blackspots.

                      • @spaceflight:

If we had FTTP like we were supposed to

FTTP is what I have available, but I'm still on cable.

                        • @jv: FTA over FTTP was scrapped a long time ago. If you want FTA you'll need an antenna or Foxtel HFC.

                          • @spaceflight: Might have to invest if a much taller aerial mast then…

Pay $49 per month to watch AD's ? someone tell these guys its 2021

    • +17

Worst part is half the ads are the same ads over and over about other things to watch on foxtel…. wouldn't it just make me sense to have less ads? I swear the foxtel ads on foxtel about foxtel are spots that they couldn't sell.

      • +1

That's absolutely it. They're struggling to fill TV, radio and newspaper ad spaces at the moment as most businesses have pulled right back on ad spend during the pandemic.

Means if you are looking to advertise it's cheaper than ever, plus you're likely to end up with some free spots when they can't fill them all.

      • +2

Last I checked it was saturated with funeral insurance ads. Probably because their largest customer demographic are fairly old.

    • +2

agreed, watching ads on paid sub was ridiculous

    • +2

Foxtel will learn that it cant depend on boomers forever sooner or later lol

  • +7

can do $10 pm or else sorry

    • +16

Yep, just because someone offers you a turd for a dollar, doesn't mean it's a bargain at 50c.

      • +1

can you please let me know where I can get these discount turds?

    • -1

What other streaming services get you get for $10 a month?

      • find it uself? use google
or else buy this pack, whoz stopping u?

      • +4

I pay $8/month for Turkish Netflix.

        • +2

Is midnight express on it ?

          • @jv: no but that's a good reference!

        • you are gorgeous

        • +1

Much better value than this offering,

      • +1

Hayu is $6.99/m, Paramount+ is $8.99/m, Amazon Prime Video is $3.99/m…

        • Anything good tho?

          • @serpserpserp: Depends what you like I suppose. Amazon recently added the earlier seasons of Top Gear to the Australian catalogue which has kept me pretty entertained the last few days.

          • @serpserpserp: Amazon Prime Video is one of the top streaming services in Australia. Some of the very best shows, and decent movies now and then too.

  • +29

I read it at $49 for 12 months originally.

Don't think my brain could process paying $49/m for streaming.

    • +6

Yeah same here, thought we actually had a deal on our hands!

But even a buck towards Murdoch and his cronies would be a tough sell.

    • +3

I read it at $49 for 12 months originally.

      Me too! :-D

I could live with $4-5 per month ($48-60 per annum) for an advertising-supported streaming service if it was half-decent.

But $49 PER MONTH?! No, thank you.

  • +45

Hahahahahahahahahah hilarious. $49 per month to watch Rupert's commercials?

      • +20

Wow, defending Rupert Murdoch of all people.

        • -7

Better go check under your bed, I saw a Guardian article claiming he might be hiding there

          • +1

@Daz91: I hope your lips are all better.

        • defending Rupert Murdoch

          You missed the point…

      • +3

What's it like having 00 living in your head rent free 24/7?

      • +2

What's it like defending a POS media tyrant that wants nothing to do with you? I think he's living in your head rent free, my guy.

        • How does he live in my head? You’re the one bringing him up.

          • +2

@Daz91: … I was replying to a comment where you brought him up…

I see you're quite thorough with your blanket replies, Daz.

            • @sting316: I do what I can to keep the influence of left wing radicals to a minimum. It’s a full time job.

              • +3

@Daz91: A left wing radical is someone who doesn't want to purchase foxtel?!

Oh my man you've become the thing you're fighting against… a far right anti-bargain extremist.

      • +5

Has it ever occurred to you that Murdoch’s publications are far right, and anyone that doesn’t echo their views are leftist (leftards) or woke?

Sky news has Peta Credlin commentating for them. I’m sure she provides a fair and balance view to her followers and it’s not propaganda at all.

        • -6

Dude the abc and nine promote BLM, gay marriage, gender fluidity, abortion, euthanasia, hate of faith, climate change, covid vaccines, anti nationalism… Those divisive progressive issues are the difference between abc and nine and some Murdoch reporters. They see our fellow human as not human

  • What’s the standard price?

    • Going down every quarter as they lose more and more subscribers.

    • +1

      $104 PER MONTH

  • +39

OR subscribe to Netflix, Stan, Disney+ and Amazon Prime for the around the same total price per month. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • +4

Or one at a time for a quarter of that. You can still watch exactly the same movies and shows.

Foxtel always kinda sucked, even in the 90s, but now it's just preposterous.

      • +1

It ruled in the 90s. But Optus Vision was better.
