Why do they keep selling controllers when there are no consoles in stock?

Controllers can be used for PC gaming and maybe mobile/tv gaming.

I’m playing final fantasy Android on my tv using ps5 controller.

I wonder if they will ever upgrade the trigger springs on these controllers given how expensive they are.

    • No point sending back because the new one will eventually break, I changed the springs on my controller with ps4 controller springs, they’re a slightly different shape & there’s less tension on them so shouldn’t break like the original springs.

      • I just sent my controller back for a replacement and I sent it in the original box and everything and the controller was in perfect condition and they send me back a cardboard box with a controller bubble wrapped inside and this one had stick drift. I took that back and I am still waiting to hear what they are doing about it.

        • I had exactly the same problems with Xbox One controllers (I had to replace them twice on average to get one that "works").

That's why I like buying the controllers, and consoles at EB Games (unless they're a fair bit cheaper at another shop).

They are close to me and they replace it on the spot every time, they don't even check them, they just ask what's wrong with them.

In my experience there is almost always something wrong with a console or controller during the warranty period, and not having to wait while a retailer sends it back to Sony to get the problem fixed or product replaced, is worth a few extra bucks (within reason).

P.s does anyone know which other shops do that (replace them on the spot without drama) ?

          • @BooYa: That’s crazy, I have 2 ps5 controllers , 0 problems. Had about 5 PS4 controllers over the years and besides the grip going after a few years, the only breakages I had was from throwing the controller in frustration :D. Crazy

            • @mavis30551: In my experience the Xbox controllers are not reliable when new (to give you an example I had buttons which couldn't be pressed because the "hole" in the controller case was too small).

You can just "feel" they are cheaply made. I don't know why they cost so much (maybe because Microsoft just accept that one or two controllers will be faulty when new, and the price reflects the extra cost of replacing them.

Unfortunately, a lot of manufacturers simply accept a certain percentage of new products will be faulty, it's cheaper for them to make two cheap ones and replace the faulty ones, than producing one good one.

P.s in my experience Microsoft has a very high tolerance for faulty new controllers, but the consoles are usually faultless, so it could just be the number of buttons and switches which all have to work (that they expect a large percentage will have at least one fault and it's cheaper to replace them than make sure every one works first time every time).

But it could be just me, others may have had a different experience, but in the over 20 years of playing Xbox it's been my experience (and it feels that the earlier versions were much more reliable than the later ones).
