"Other Brand Battery" contains "Lots of harmful substances" in the comparison chart.

This seems like a well thought out and accurate criticism.

  • 11kg seems to amazing for 100ah

    • Lithium is insanely light. It's element #3 on the periodic table, #1 and #2 are gases.

Compared to an equivalent volume of pure aluminium, lithium weighs LESS than 1/5th as much.

(Actual figures: 530 kg/m^3 for lithium versus 2700 kg/m^3 for aluminium.)

    • The Redarc 100ah is 11kg

Is a clear case really worth $120 more than your last deal?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/645106
    Is there any other differences?

    • looks pretty cool but….. nope imo

    • I'd guess that given the price the other one contains the 15Ah 33140 Guaxuan cylindrical cells, pretty much the cheapest lithium storage in the market.
I could obviously be wrong though.

    • Hi, Kasan and Enercore are different suppliers. The clear casing battery has A grade Prismatic cells and Jiabaida BMS. Recharge cycle is 2500+ and Kasan has 2000+ cycles. The connections points of cells and BMS are bolted instead of soldering in Kasan battery. In the manufacturing process, the labour force to bolt is almost doubled.

      • Ok, good to know your Kasan batteries do not contain A-grade cells…

So are Kasan and Enercore real battery manufacturers or are they just random names you throw on batteries for marketing purposes in Australia? I cant find much info about either company…

        • Both of them have A-grade cells but different manufacturers.

  • Contains lead, according to the label!
Voltage cut off is too low, in my opinion.

    • Lithium battery is lead free thanks.

      • It says "Pb" on it, which stands for plumbum, or lead in Latin.

        • +1

Is that what it says under the "do not bin" symbol? You have better eyesight than me.

The battery is in a plastic case that was obviously designed for a lead-acid battery. The six holes on the top for filling electrolyte give it away. If it does say "Pb", the case manufacturer probably has no idea what the "Pb" means, so they just put it on this case too.

Possibly there's a tiny amount of lead-based solder in the electronics built into the lid, which could warrant the "Pb". But you shouldn't bin large lithium batteries either, they are dangerous once cracked open.

@Russ: Yes, all Rolling stock labels seem to have the same label format and they all have Pb under the WEEE bin symbol.
I pointed this out to them months ago, but apparently they either didn't read it, didn't care or have changed over but this stock was produced before they made a change.

            • +1

@RubenM: Hi spludgey, thanks for pointing this out again. We have notified our suppliers this morning. And the symbol of Pb will be removed from our future stock.

No low temp charging protection mentioned anywhere. Would turn into junk quickly if this is the case.

    • Are you in zub zero temperatures that often

      • It's sub zero overnight in a lot more places than it may seem.

        • Sub Zero temperatures aren't a problem, if you only discharge and don't charge, so if it's running off solar it should be fine for most of Australia.
But I'm agreeing with you. Not having low temperature disconnect is crap.

    • Hi, Jiabaida BMS will cut off recharging at 0 degrees and cut off discharging at -20 degrees. thanks.

  • Is this self serviceable?

So if one individual cell goes bad, can you replace that specific cell instead of needing to throw the whole thing out?

    • Hi, we offer a replacement warranty. A new battery will be sent to you if one individual cell goes bad.
