    Any decent 1tb models to blow this out of the water..?

      The 1TB Gen4 M.2 SSDs are around $290.

      • 1 TB WD Black SN850 without heatsink can be purchased for $259 and has better specs.

          The 1TB SSDs I found were around $290 with heatsink. Where from?

            @Twix: Evatech Computers. They have a website or can buy through Amazon.

      Amazon <deleted> earliest delivery date is 22 September, What is this point of this <deleted> if it can't deliver quickly

      Pick up from Centre Com is within 2 hours.

      • Amazon is for those not lucky enough to live near a Centrecom in lockdown. Better getting a decent deal delivered late rather than never.

      • But the insane delay tells me that:
        - they've matched Centrecom's price so taking the wind out of their sails
        - they have no stock (yet)

  • This is Gen 4 correct? With an inbuilt heatsink, would this be plug and play into a Ps5? Just curious. Not really a tech guy. Also probably won't ever need the extra space until maybe a year from now. Also is 500GB even worth it?

      Best if you hold off buying one. These probably will go down in price.

      • Cheers mate. Would 2TB be a good upgrade in a year's time considering the amount of space games are now taking up? Internet speeds are getting faster but not fast enough to justify uninstalling/re-downloading games on the fly.

        • I went to a gen4 1TB for specific games and the rest are on an 8TB SSHDD which’s been an excellent combination. Nothing wrong with spinning drives IMO for general storage and unoptimised games.

          Think is SSD is technically to slow, the SSD read speed needs to be greater than 5,500 Mb/s

          For me 2TB would be plenty and will probably get one eventually, although I’ll probably get at 1TB to start with and wait for prices to go down.

          Get on gigabit internet mate. Downloaded a 40GB game in 90 seconds last night. It was glorious.

          • @Smol Cat: Farrrk wish I could man. Only work part-time and studying full-time. Had to sell all my spare organs to afford the ps5 to begin with.

    • I saw a video of someone installing one of these into a PS5, it fits in fine but the PS5 heatshield cover for the m.2 port cant be attached due to the heatsink. Whether that will affect the performance is unknown but would probably avoid one with a heatsink if you can.

  • Stupid question: for $108 price you would get four 500GB of ssds'?

    • Nah you get one M.2 SSD that is PCIe Gen4.

      • +3

        So THAT'S why I didn't get the other seven graphics drives after buying an x8.

        • hahaha. thanks :)

    • No you only get 1 item of 500GB SSD.

    i will pass on this, looking for 1tb at least

  • Why are the write speeds for these slower than the Gen3s?

    This drive;
    PCIe Gen 4 x4
    Sequential Read 4,950 MB/s
    Sequential Write 2,500 MB/s

    Comparison;
    PCIe Gen 3.0 x4, NVMe 1.4
    Sequential Read Up to 3,500 MB/s
    Sequential Write Up to 3,000 MB/s
