Phone, Watch & Tablet - eSim/Sim/Number Sharing Options?

Update:

Optus:
Can have a eSim for Phone and Watch but my tablet would need to be seperate.
Tablet data sim @ $15 per month (Retentions team indicated they could do $12).
After advising I will be pulling all my services and going with another provider, they were not interested in retaining me.

Hi All,

I recently purchased a new phone (Z Fold 3) and a smartwatch (Galaxy Watch 4 Classic). I also have an older LTE tablet which requires a Sim Card.
I currently have a good phone plan with Optus with a fair amount of data - more than suitable for all 3 devices. What I am trying to do is not have to have 3 separate services which will require me to have 3 separate plans to have all three running at once.

It would be great to hear peoples experiences with Optus number sharing, and if I can do it across 3 devices, 2 of which being eSim devices. Additionally, if anyone has had this same situation, which provider was able to give you the best possible outcome, as I am currently not locked in and open to switching.

I know that many people will say, "just read the Optus website" or "call them". I actually have done both and not received a clear answer about whether this is possible.
When speaking to Optus I have received 3 different options…. first - to pay a fee per month per device to enable this service, second - to have three phone plans, and third - to have the watch and phone on one plan and have the tablet on an additional Sim Plan costing a minimum of $25 per month.

Any information or experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks OZBargain community!

Sim in phone, hotspot the other devices?

    • Currently do that now, but hoping to be able to use each device in isolation.
Use the watch out running without my phone with me etc.

    Optus

    There's your first problem.

  • Only postpaid plans from the three major telcos would support LTE on your watch, last time I checked it costs around an additional $5/mo

  • I am optus, and i have the same except mine is an iphone, ipad and apple watch. Both iphone and apple watch are on its own plan (i signed up the apple watch on the optus plan), but my apple watch subscription includes a sim card (linked to the watch plan) which i used on the ipad. Data sharing across the 3 devices.

  • Optus will make you a good deal via call centre

    • They were not willing to budge.
If I wanted my tablet to have a data sim I would have to go on a new plan @ $15 per month.

The Optus 5GB $15 monthly data plan is on sale atm (50% off).

try again with optus regarding breaking up with them, if they dont care, you should'nt either. with telcos i personally have always preferred to never get tied into plan ( i understand for a watch+phone you will need a postpaid plan though).

  • Go prepaid on your tablet mate! you can get really cheap prepaid plans for example Amaysim - they do really good deals around black friday with really good cash backs.
