  • awesome lens on a crop body,

hm $58 cheaper than their ebay price

  • +1

amazing UWA for crop bodies… highly recommended.

  • This or the canon 10-22?

    • +1

10-22 is f/3.5-4.5 better vignetting handling but for sure, price is a bit higher.
And this one is f/2.8, if you using wide angle under a low lighting environment(well, I will say indoor e.g. party!?) is much better.

For landscape shooting, I will go for 10-22.

    Good price, good lens.

For someone who didn't know yet, the new AT-X 116 PRO DX Ⅱ is announced but not released yet!

    11 ~ 16mm F2.8 (IF) ASPHERICAL
Retail Price: ¥ 90,000 (tax not included with hood)
Product photography is Nikon mount specification.

    Nikon digital (APS-C)
Will be released in late March 2012. <<<<!!!!!!

    Canon digital (APS-C)
Will be released in late July 2012. <<<<!!!!!

    • Thanks I didn't know that! :)

Just googled this new lens quickly…apart from a new lens coating and better focusing on Nikon mounts, what is there to make the DX II better than the one offered here?

      • For users of Nikon bodies that don't have an autofocus motor built in, it's a big deal, because they can't autofocus with v1 of the lens at all.

        • Cool I thought it was mainly important for Nikon users. I have a Canon so it doesn't seem as vital to get v2.

  • This is a very good quality wide angle lens. I had one back when I shot with Canon and it was a pleasure to use. I loved the pics that I got using it. Good price!

  • indeed, i have this lens and it is only maybe 25% of the time which may not sound like much but the shots that come out of it are incredible. Use on my D90.

great for landscape and night photography (2.8 is great at night, but you'd be using a tripod for long exposure to smooth out water anyway).

    solid build as well.

  • I'm finding conflicting reports on the reliability of dwi. Can anyone vouch for them?

    • +1

i can - ive dropped over $2k on lenses (not tablets which is where i think the bad rep is from).

note, last purchase was early 2011.

    • +1

I can as well. I've spent close to maybe $7k with them. No issues so far. Buying the 5d3 from them when available and another L lens with them soon.

      • dwi fine for photography grear

        highly recommended

        • Thanks for all the feedback :)

  • DWI is awesome, have bought at least $3000 of gear from them, super fast delivery every time (within a few days) there is a huge thread over at whirlpool with hundreds of positive reviews

  • If I hadn't bought one recently secondhand, I would certainly buy this.

  • can this lens work for my D5100? it should have an auto focus motor in the len right?

    • Crap! it doesn't… good to know because some told me the "Pro" one did..

Now.. do i get the new one coming out in march.. $1000+AU.. or learn how to focus manually for $550…
knew i should have just brought the d7000 or d90…. could up grade…

      • its a tough choice - i would buy this one and use the difference in saving towards a new body…

      • -1

most of the time you'll be set at infinity anyway =P

        • You obviously don't know what you're talking about. Go read on hyper-focal distance as a start. And this lens is not just purely for landscapes.
