Anti-afterpayers should wait for the next Dell eBay 20% code.

why would someone not wanna use afterpay? (i haven't used it, i'm new to the concept)

      • +4

i only joined afterpay for the perks (aka discounts if you pay via afterpay) they offer but as long as you pay off your loans with them ahead or on time it's good but if you are bad at this kinda stuff then don't join afterpay due to the fees.

        • +2

after you have made the purchase through afterpay…you can log into your afterpay account and pay the whole thing off instantly.

          • @Khunaus: yep or you can pay a subset of the split payments to get ahead of the due dates of the split loans

because some people like to project their hopelessness with finances onto everybody else

I don't have a gambling problem, I don't gamble at all. I still don't want to see the constant gambling advertising trying to lure people in.

I feel sort of the same way about afterpay. It seems to me like it is meant to trap the most vulberable.

        • Yeah it's just an extra month interest free on my credit card for me.

Totally up to you. I mean I have AP and I just pay the full balance immediately just so I can get the discounts.

      • Basically thats what I do, but just let them take out the payments over 4 installments, but outside of perks and bonus discounts, I have no use for these types of payments.

  • Is this ips or VA?

"The full spectrum: VA panel technology delivers a high 3000:1 contrast ratio for deeper blacks and brighter whites. Together with sRGB 99% colours coverage, the colours are extremely vibrant across a wide viewing angle (178 degrees). " - https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-27-curved-gaming-monito…

      • so is this a dealbreaker for those ips fans out there? i often wonder what some of the shitty panels i've used before were. I'm stoked with my ips atm, but yeah… i need to learn more…

    Rtings review https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/s2722dgm

    Decent review for gaming usage.

    • i have the 32" version of this and its good for gaming. The main thing bringing the scores are the usual downsides that come with VA panels.

  • For gaming is it not TM > IPS > VA?
I've heard VA panels are not that great for gaming but good for movies. Any comments?

    • For gaming is it not TM > IPS > VA?

It's not so clear cut like that, Hardware Unboxed recently did a good summary and comparison of these different display technologies. In short, it depends on which attributes are important to you and which tradeoffs you prefer.

Each of the different panel types offers some great models and also some crappy ones. Generally speaking VA certainly isn't bad for games, though it's probably better than IPS or TN for movies imo due to the higher contrast, OK viewing angles (compared to TN) and absence of IPS glow which can be a real bummer for dark content.

  • Anyone know if this monitor can downscale a 4k signal from a PS5?

    • I have this on my Xbox Series X running at 1440p and 120hz.
Haven't had any issue, not sure if the ps5 runs lower res at high refresh rate.
