Because this has Apple in the name you should charge a minimum of $2,500

  • This is the "normal" price. Well has been since they started advertising them recently.

  • Can you do this deal again? Needing more - https://www.appleshelving.com.au/collections/metal-shelving/…

    TY

    • Thanks for reply.

The 2M2M0.6M 1000Kg metal shelving is now $195.

We can give you a great price if you pick up at Woodridge Warehouse.

  • I'm surprised Apple hasnt gone after you for your company Name ;)

I'm not a lawyer but my understanding is a generic term like Apple has thin trademark protection - basically it only applies to the industry they operate in.

I can start a "McDonald's Furniture", and especially if my name is McDonald it should be legally easy for me to show I'm not trying to sponge off the reputation of McDonald's Restaurants.

Now, if you were to use the Apple Computers logo, or call yourself "Apple Computers Shelving", then you may fall afoul of the law because those are more unique designators.

Of course, some companies try to throw around legal threats even when they don't have a legal leg to stand on. For smaller companies or individuals, defending their meritorious claim may simply not be worthwhile, and larger companies may be aware of this. For larger companies though, this can cause reputational damage, so they don't necessary want to do this either.

      • What about branding the products, you have iphone, ipad, ipad etc. What is Apple Shelving releases the Intelligent Rack or the iRack?

        • +1

Well, I think these are cases where it starts to require judgement in multiple senses of the word, but presumably the more you use of their branding the more likely you are to get in trouble.

If you're "Apple X" you're probably okay - it's a common word. If you release an "iThing" you're probably okay - it's a single letter and nowadays a common abbreviation for "internet" (and not just Apple - for example iRiver which preceded iPod).

But if you're "Apple X" and you release an "iThing" you might get in trouble. It becomes more obvious you're trying to sponge off Apple's reputation, rather than just independently using the word "Apple".

          But again, not a lawyer.
