  • Is this phone better than the SGS2?

    • -1

      yes

      • -4

wow. Real sour topic round here isn't it, considering it seems 90% of ozbargainers own an s2.

      • +5

it seems 90% of ozbargainers own an s2…

Hmm. Fun fact taken from OzBargain Analytics data over the last 30 days. Out from ~730,000 visits from mobile users.

        • iPhone — 45.1%
        • iPad — 21.4%
        • Samsung Galaxy S II — 7.2%
        • Samsung Galaxy S — 2.2% (these two are by far the most popular Android devices here)
        • iPod Touch — 1.9%
        • HTC Desire HD — 1.3%

Anyway. Far from "90%" although definitely the most popular Android phones here.

        • +6

wow. so many apple users; I always thought ozbargainers were some of the more informed consumers.

          ;)

        • +2

Lulz, I don't think subtle humour is a strength of most Apple users Purt! :p

        • +2

The tech'ier Android users could very well be using a browser that sets the user agent to iPhone or iPad to access ios-optimized mobile sites..

    • +3

can't say one is better than the other..

SGS2 and SGN has their own strength.. ie. screen size, external memory and etc..

    • +2

They're both very capable phones. I have an SGS2 though — which I love, but the lack of LED notification lights on it tick me off.

      • I thought that's what the screen was for? :)

        I hate those bloody lights.

        • If the screen is locked / off, you have no way of telling whether you have missed a call or SMS.

Of course though, you can just unlock the phone to see if you have any messages but with a LED it's 100X more convenient.

    • +1

They are both great, the Galaxy Nexus would be the pick at this point, its a bit more future proof. SGS3 will be out soon. Galaxy Nexus at this price is great stick it on a $10 Live Connected plan and its great value.

    • +1

I think the note is the most powerful of the bunch, but you should wait for the SGS3, for both to buy or wait for the prices on the other ones to go down

    • +1

I am hoping an YES too, coz I just bought one GN myself and waiting for delivery by Kogan….BUT it's a tough call.

No one can say which is better…just personal needs I guess…if bigger screen suits u better, then GN….S2 has it's own advantages too.

    • No

  • Finally!
    These guys will deliver item?
    Anyone used em?

    • +1

I got my Galaxy note through them and can't recommend them enouh. Ordered on Thursday night and got my phone on Monday. Probably quicker than other aussie stores.

  • +10

It's very hard to save when you're an Ozbargain regular.

    • i've been eyeying this phone for a month now..
Under $500 delivered is a really gd price but am worried that the price will drop even lower when sg3 comes out :(

      • nexus and gs3 are both different, samsung are taking forever to announce the thing. it is really starting to annoy me now, I think I will get the nexus.

        • +1

samsung are also taking forever to release ICS on the SGS2…

        • do you guys think its worth getting it outright now? or wait for a few months and hopefully get it on a $29 plan for free?
i know it was $29 + 5 on vodafone few weeks ago.. but just like the sg2, the price has gone up again and may take a while to go back to previous level :(

        • get it on $29 plan if it's available …providing ur contract is ending soon!
Works out the best on plan …coz u will be renewing ur contract anyway with one of the providers

        • +4

          not really.

So say you do get it for $29 a month free handset repayment. 29*24 = 696

          Phone outright = $495
          comparable plan with lc = $8 a month = $192
          Total = $687

and you're not locked into a contract. The only reason you would get it from voda is if your friends and family are already with them.

Personally I'd be sticking it on the lc $11 plan (1.5gb $500 t&t, compartable to vodas $60 plan) total cost over 24 months for this and phone would be: $759.

to tell the truth I can not see how someone can buy a smart phone and put it on a 200mb plan.

ps maths may be wrong I didn't check it.

        • +1

          Totally agree.

I've been burnt by excess charges having exceeded the monthly data allowance.

And if any other plan comes out which is better than liveconnected $11, you can take advantage of it.

  • +1

I would get it outright now. I hate contracts, and vodafones $29 plan is terrible value. buy it outright and go on live connected. no contract and fantastic value.

    • +1

this, I have done the same as well, but with a SGS2. LC is much better value for money

  • +2

As im not Australian , i use TPG mobile as the call credit includes international calls.

I used to be with LC but changed over as their lower priced plans do not include international calls.

I also like the fact that if you have an issue you can call TPG customer care directly. LC only offer online support which can take a couple of days sometimes to be resolved. in saying that though their price plans arfe sensational but i rather pay that tiny bit more for after sales service.

    • I'm also on TPG, but either way, TPG/LC +outright >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> vodafone

      • im with virgin mobile.. what if they offer the Nexus free on $39 big cap say in 2 months time (which is what they offer now for the S2)? how is that gonna fare against LC + outright?

        • Virgin Comparison : $39 * 24 = $936
          $650 @$99 per minute and $0.40 Flat rate | SMS $0.28

          500 MB @ ? couldn't find the billing rate

          ——————————————————————————-

          LC Comparison = $495 + $11*24 = $495 + $264 = $759.
          $500 Anyone + $500 LC @ $.90 per minute and $0.35 Flat Rate | SMS $0.25

          1500MB @ per KB

          ——————————————————————————-

          Saving of ($936 - $759) = $177

In fact you could go for the $16 cap and still save $57.

Plus the fact that there is no contract so you could change providers anytime or change the phone as well.

        • I would love to go to live connected but they do not include international calls. So Virgin or TPG it is.

Does woolworths mobile include international calls?

        • pretty sure they do

  • +1

This is a good deal, you will probably order this and be enjoying it well before I who ordered mine over a week ago on shopping square (just received dispatch email today!).

  • They also have the Galaxy Note White for $584 including shipping - cheaper than Kogans offer of $ 569 + $19 postage. Kogan sells only the Blue.

  • +2

what would warranty be like with these guys compared to Kogan?

    • According to their web site they provide a two year warranty

      • +1

For mobile phones and tablets, only 12-month standard warranty is offered.

  • Just need my new credit card to come thru this week and will snap this up I think.
    Need case and protectors.
Oh and have unlock and ensure yakju 4.02 is installed.
Whirlpool report a bit of a worry: Galaxy Nexus General Discussion pg 49

  • i wish they have the white one :(

  • Ordered over the weekend, got a call from them on Monday to verify details and say it should arrive on Thursday. Came home today and it was here already, super happy. My SIM card from Live Connected also arrived today so doubly happy about the result. Waiting for the phone to charge at the moment.
