Red Rooster Getting Rid of Crispy Strips (Rippa)

Just found out RR is progressively phasing out their Crispy strips (used on the Rippa roll) and instead replacing them with an actual piece of chicken breast, coated in crispy batter.

Now firstly you might be saying, 'whats the problem?, that sounds better than processed meat'. The problem there, fellow readers is that the new chicken breast is trรจs horrible and has none of that delicious artificial-ness that we all love.

In the words Hercules actor and conspiracy nut, Kevin Sorbo, DISAPPOINTED!!!!!

yeah, rippa with spicy sauce, add chips ….. awesome

    • RR has other things going for it now. The fried chicken and Hellfire burger range are pretty good.

      • I like both, but the hell fire range is too expensive.

  • Now firstly you might be saying, 'whats the problem?

I've had one of these and at first I was confused to what was happening. But honestly it was better than the strips!

    • maybe it was the way it was cooked, but mine had 0 spices.

        Same at my local, Moorooka

  • They have done some weird things and changes recently.
Guess they want to try and keep up with the Colonel.

        Try Tassie.

Aldi, Costco, IKEA, Covid, 7/11 are missing too.

  • Their fried chicken is pretty good so hoping whatever they make next will be as decent.

I find the bread when it's fresh tastes pretty amazing

  • Man, RR is such a failure this year… My platinum loyalty card is burning a hole in my pocket while my local doesn't even do fried chicken.
Took until the start of September to remove the "Christmas in July" 'deals' from the app, too.

    First world problems eh? :)

    • tell me about it.

also just found out they are turfing the nuggets as well!

      • Aw MAN not the cheesy nugs…

  • Also they stopped listing the hellfire burger MegaBox in the app :( can't get that delivered anymore it appears.

  • Does anybody go there? 250mil thimble of drink…. how ridiculous is that? I enquired as to why, and you get some stupid response - "A recent survey indicated customers preferred the smaller size!"

What utter rubbish. You can't even wash down the dried out crap!

  • Just found this out now, I'm so disappointed, I asked the checkout girl and she said they been phasing it out 3 months ago, this was one of the only reason I visited red rooster. I had to resort to the crispy chicken which is ok but puny in size and lacks the flavour nutty crunch of the old strips and can be achieved by any Joe blow chicken shop. What a sad sad day in my life Friday 29th October 2021 the day a fast food staple with its delicious nutty tones and deep fried flavour cease to no longer exist. :'(

How could I ever foresee this stability of my life disappear as the last rippa I enjoyed months ago will always be now a distance memory. So so sad

  • Classic Rippa and BBQ bacon rippa were my two favourites. Can't stand the new strips. They taste so dull compared to the original strips. Guess that's it for me with Red Rooster.

Ps, never buy their rooster rolls or chicken cheese and bacon burgers. I worked there for 2 years and have never been able to eat them since.

The fake crispy strips was what made it good, these new 'real' chicken strips are a fail…. What is with these fast food chains changing the formulas on their OG menu items.
