      It's OK straight (bloody good for the price). A bit rough and lacking deeper flavour beyond the sweetness. I much prefer wild turkey 101 to drink straight but it's a lot more expensive.

  Bourbon is generally a fair bit sweeter. I personally don't enjoy it straight but don't mind scotch straight.
  
  Not sure the best way to describe it (I'm not an expert) but scotch is a bit peatier/smokier (typically, depends on where it is from in Scotland) and I find has a bit more complex flavour than Bourbon.
