+1 votesome people get DC35 at local Harvey Norman for around $350 @ Aug/2011
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/50941I guess local warranty matter with $20 difference…
-1 votewith amazon germany, even translating the page doesnt help as some buttons arent translated. so how do you do the transaction without button mashing and adding your item to say a wishlist. id hate to do something silly with my CC payment.
anyway is there a price competitive european amazon that has 230-240v appliances with a fully english version? as the uk site in pounds is never competitive.
TIA
soakwashrinsespin on 15/03/2012 - 06:32 ¶I just paid 350 at GGuys. Bugger
Still not bad price at all considering your purchase comes with local warranty! :)
Dysons bought from Amazon DE/FR won't have Australian warranty, but you can still get them repaired and serviced here for a fee. (Personally, I'm happy to go without local warranty if it means saving 30%, but others may beg to differ.)
+1 voteg1a2r3r4y5 on 15/03/2012 - 07:59 ¶Hi can you post a receipt? Or tell me how you got that price. Thanks.
+1 voteI walked into Good Guys (vic) haggled(395), a bit more (370), and a little bit more (350)!. I was buying for my sister who'd told me she'd been offered 350 elsewhere so I stuck to that price. turns out she'd actually been offered 395. honest mistake I swear.
don't have the receipt sorry. (purchased feb 29…but there were no discounts on dyson)
I'm really tempted to get one for myself at this price. I wonder if there's any way Dyson would know the difference between local and non local? ie. use sisters proof of purchase if my import unit packs up.
funkigreendog on 15/03/2012 - 07:00 ¶Awesome price…just got the Animal for $383 from GG about a month ago.
One of the best purchases I've made in the last few years. Brilliant device.
+1 votezeppeybabey on 15/03/2012 - 07:18 ¶Same… aside from my fridge and washing machine, this is the one household item I use the most.
I have purchased 3x DC35 Animal this year(the animal is the one that comes with the extra powerhead for the car/carpets fur cleaner). one for my office, one for home, and couple weeks ago got one for a friend who just had a new baby. $385 from bing lee.

It's a handheld vacuum cleaner, whereas Roomba is a autonomy bot that roams in your house while vacuuming at the same time. Two different types of products.
I found the handheld vacuums quite useful especially in household that needs to vacuum constantly (due to kids for example).

Electrical issues. One was that the speed control (high/low) stopped working. Later was the vacuum simply turning itself off after a few seconds.
On a different topic, I recommend getting a spare battery, so you are only cycling your batteries after a full discharge (Think about it: if you use the vacuum for 2 minutes then put it back on charge, it recharges back to full without fully discharging. If you have a spare battery, you don't need to charge it until it is completely empty, when you switch it out for the spare charged one.)
funkigreendog on 15/03/2012 - 13:34 ¶8 mins is on max power. 15 minutes is more than enough. You wouldn't be using it to do your whole house.
Also it's 15 mins of continuous use - you depress a trigger to use, so it actually lasts a lot longer that way.
http://www.amazon.fr/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_le...
It said the shipping cost and estimate time.
I guess when they have stock, they will ship to Aust thur Express.
If it is the case, it would takes around 2-4 days.
senorclean on 15/03/2012 - 14:04 ¶My girlfriend bought one of these for ~$350 at HN recently - she's happy with it, but increasing her vacuuming frequency to daily is driving me a bit insane.
Runtime isn't an issue - but may become one as the batteries pack it in!
Still, great price - well spotted.

+1 votesoakwashrinsespin on 16/03/2012 - 15:21 ¶They're probably thinking of books or movies they ordered from Amazon. Bulkier items like this Dyson are shipped out of Amazon's German warehouse using DHL Express and should take 2-5 business days, depending on where you are in Australia. I've ordered about a dozen bulky items from Amazon Europe (UK/DE/FR/IT/ES) and delivery has always been 3 days to Sydney.
soakwashrinsespin on 18/03/2012 - 13:19 ¶Just to add to my earlier comment; bulky items from Amazon Europe are usually delivered to Australia in 2-5 days, but only if they are in stock at the time of purchasing. I forgot this particular item wasn't in stock, so it'll likely take longer.
Right now the item page on the Amazon.fr page says: "Usually ships in 1 to 2 months" ("Habituellement expédié sous 1 à 2 mois").
+1 voteJust bought DC 37 Animal (equivalent to DC39 here I believe) from amazon.de. Ordered last Thursday, arrived this morning!
The price on the website is EUR 443.00 but at checkout it's only EUR 372.27, probably exempt from VAT, plus shipping for EUR 40.00 so totally end up to EUR 412.27 = AUD 514.68 I paid.
Don't know if this is a good price at all, but probably worth mentioning in this thread :)
http://www.amazon.de/Dyson-DC37-Animal-Turbine-Turbinend%C3%...

I think DC37 is the same as DC39 as it's the only barrel model with Ball technology.
Previously I was looking for DC39 Allergy and the price I got quoted from the local shops is about $690 so I think this price for DC37 Animal shouldn't be too bad, plus I don't have to look around or haggle for any discount.Only used the vacuum once so far so can't comment on the performance but I found the cable gets a bit warm after usage, shouldn't be a big deal I guess.
Here is a review of the vacuum and the guy points out some of the design flaws so have a look before you buy.

+1 voterockpeblar on 23/03/2012 - 01:22 ¶Got an e-mail earlier. I think it translates to say that I should get my DC35 next week around 29th.
rockpeblar on 23/03/2012 - 22:31 ¶It's on its way. Got an e-mail earlier today with a UPS tracking number!! Due to arrive by Wednesday.
rockpeblar on 25/03/2012 - 11:38 ¶Ordered mine on 14th Mar. Just checked UPS and it left Singapore last night. Hope the rest are shipped soon.
rockpeblar on 26/03/2012 - 20:26 ¶Arrived today - first impressions - great. Was some charge remaining for a quick trial. Now on charge
rockpeblar on 27/03/2012 - 01:47 ¶"Do you think they can replace normal vacuum cleaner (full size one)?
" Not sure, we have an upright Dyson already but this DC35 is much easier if you want to just hoover one room. The suction seems to be nearly as good as the fullsize one. We purchased it mainly for the car and picking up any crumbs the kids leave behind.
bigdoubleu on 28/03/2012 - 10:17 ¶Ordered a DC35 on March 16 - just checked and still showing estimated shipping date of April 10 - April 30.
Also ordered the car cleaning kit at the same time - it arrived March 20! Once in stock expect a quick delivery.
bigdoubleu on 28/03/2012 - 12:10 ¶I found it by logging in to amazon.fr -> "Your account" -> "Your current orders" = Date d'envoi estimée 10 avril 2012 - 30 avril 2012
bigdoubleu on 31/03/2012 - 10:58 ¶Mine has been Sent!
Estimated Delivery Date: Thursday, April 5, 2012
yes & I'm still waiting on my email from amazon.fr and I must admit finding my way around their website is painful for a non french speaker. Like you I ordered on 15th March I think it was late at night. Have you been charged for yours yet? I don't think I have been charged.

I received mine. But mine is missing the battery. I thought it hidden in packaging , so ripped it apart…. no sign of the battery. I check some unboxing videos on youtube to find where the batter will be in the packaging. It is attached to vaccum cleaner in the video. Mine didn't have the battery attached. Did anyone else have similar experience.
