Decent Android Phone in Sydney < $300

My Desire HD went through the wash and ideally I would like a new phone tonight or tomorrow. So I'm after an android phone that has a 1GHz+ processor and can be picked up in Sydney.
Either new or second hand is fine.

Anyone that helps me find one will receive lots of good karma! ;)

under $300 your looking at a Nexus S from vodafone, they are all unlocked and are $299 at Dick Smith

Or, for $235 you can get a Moto Defy which would probably survive the wash. Emphasis on probably.

    CPU is a 800 MHz Cortex-A8 though.

  • Should be plenty of options…
LG Optimus 7 has recently been $159 on COTD.. WinPho7 though and you probably wont find them that price today.

Samsung Galaxy S are surely below the $300 mark now.. Pretty awesome phone even now (I'm still running one).

I presume you've tried disassembling the Desire HD and thoroughly drying it (ie leaving it in a hot car far a day or two) before reassembling and turning it back on? It used to work for my old Nokias that I'd drop in puddles on work sites occasionally.

  • Went to post office and saw incredible s is 299, not sure if thats a bargain but sounds decent

    • HTC Incredible S that's Optus-locked used to be $269 a few months ago so $299 is probably not a decent deal. I bought mine in January off eBay (also Optus-locked) also for $26x.

Nice phone though, if you like SenseUI.

  • It's a good deal, but i'd be holding off a bit. I was thinking about getting the Nexus S myself, but tbh it looks to plastic, and I'd prefer to get something like the Defy that'd probably last twice as long as the Nexus S.

It's a great phone especially after you install a custom ROM and OC it (see thread) and is what i'd recommend .

  • What about the Huawei Vision? It is selling for $278 at Allphones, outright.
