  • The price seems good, however I'm not sure if the thing is worth $99 + shipping if this reviewer is accurate (the review i think is of the same product and the reviewer has bought from 2ndsworld) >

    • This is actually a very good food processor. The scenario in the review can happen to any food processor and is a simple case of a warranty replacement.

Don't see anywhere which says it is compatible with crushing ice.

    Factory Second = Second hand
"Little ding, box damage, you save a bucket", it is all load of crap. These guys buy customer returns from these companies and fix them and sell them at almost brand new prices. The dings and box damage happens during transit when the customer returns it. Yes there are some cases when it is not a customer return. This happens when the item has fallen off the back of the truck or a folk lift has plowed through it. The major brands are not going to just dump a perfectly good product because of box damage. They rebox it before going to retailers. I know this because I used to work for one of the major brands.

      Hi Zealmax,

we've got a 5 label system to ensure the consumer is aware of a products condition and history: http://www.2ndsworld.com.au/what-factory-2nd

A carton damaged product like this one is not second hand or refurbished. It's a brand new product which can not be sold as new in other stores as consumers expect a good looking box. It is a simple case of a damaged box.

    • Actually, they do dump them if the box is damaged, as the goods are more likely to be faulty and get returned.

Last place I worked for had an entire shipment of 50" LCD TV's show up completely destroyed - the truck it was on appeared to have stopped suddenly and they all crashed into each other. Sent it back, and I can only imagine where it showed up …. :P

  • Whilst I agree that using it in blender-mode/capacity to handle icecubes is pretty severe the reviews for any processors that Tefal have made seem a tad underwhelming:

That said I've bought from 2nds World before and find them excellent - whilst I do need a food processor I'm a lil hesitant to jump at this Tefal as I get the feeling this is just something else rebadged as its not what they developed their brand manufacturing.

Yes, I was bang on about the rebadging - its actually a Moulinex Masterchef 8000.

Marginally more info on this but still patchy reviews. :-/

Here's a Youtube promo video - not much substance to it but better than nothing:

      • Nice investigationing. Moulinex usually make some pretty decent stuff, surprised it doesn't have better reviews. But then again, the price is kind of low.. Got to cut the costs from somewhere.

        • Thanks Ryang. They used to have a good reputation think it's dropped off in recent years as with a lot of established brands that have moved their manufacturing bases to cheaper locations.

Here's quite a significant number of reviews but alas you can't read individually:

  • Just a quick heads up to avoid any disappointment: there aren't many left…!
We will do our best to remove it from the site as soon as it has sold out.

IT didn't fell off the back of a truck by any chance?

Oh FWIW I downloaded the manual from that diplo-best site - I have to say its got the worst manual I've ever seen in all my years. I can see why people who've bought it say it's confusing to use.

Is like a bad comic book with just cartoon pictures and no words/written details, very poor in that regard.

I think I'll hold out for a decent Breville one, they've a very good reputation with their food processors (sans the entry level ones).

Some say the manual almost made it into the da vinci code movie as a cryptex replacement. Tom Hanks however favoured the latter.

  • these are all gone now
