Its been put together by Consumer Affairs so there's no normal or previous price.

Closest style on ebay is $10 for 4 hooks.

        thanks.

Cool, so we're probably paying 10x that via taxes for these anyway.

Aussies are big government boot lickers mate… You'll never convice the masses that it isn't a great spend of tax payers money that the government probably spent $100,000 putting this offer together. In fact your average Joe doesn't even seem to understand that government spend is actually tax that's taken from them.

          • @Binchicken22: $100k to raise awareness of how blind cords can kill and injury kids, and even supply the solution, seems a bargain to me. I imagine most people never even think about it (I certainly never have).

          • @Binchicken22: And geniuses like yourself don't have the critical thinking to understand that a government that doesn't spend isn't going to give you the money back.

And even worse if the lib/nats are in charge they'll take that money they didn't spend (and don't sorry they'll spend it on rorts like the parking lots next to nowhere) and either give it to themselves or their mates (like the rorts and tax/wage loopholes).

So recognise you pay some of the highest tax in the world, and you would be extremely silly to a) expect taxes to drop significantly (without them increasing elsewhere or a multinational company getting taxed and over throwing/buying a new government (see qld)) or b) expect 0 in return from your taxes.

Learn to ask for more and accept what is provided to you or others, otherwise you'll be left with high taxes and nothing to show for it

      • I'm a collector.

They're quite valuable in the right markets…

I tried it in NSW, no errors yet so maybe?

      • I tried also but i just received this:
Thank you for requesting to be sent some of the Consumer Affairs Victoria curtain and blind cord safety kits. Unfortunately, the kits are only available to Victorian consumers who supply a Victorian mailing address.

They are saying at least 21 kids in Oz have died like this since 2001 .
I wonder how many have died from being squashed from an object falling on them and I think a much bigger problem .

    • +4

Rather save them as they are more useful in the society than popsiee.

    • +5

Yeah, because everyone knows we shouldn't bother to fix the easy stuff when other problems exist.

Was literally JUST at bunnings looking for some of these - perfect OP thank you!

Thank you! Looks like we can install it in a rental too :D

Thanks OP! One of ours broke a few weeks ago I've been meaning to get some replacements/spares.

Great, never thought of them as unsafe but good to prep our house for our nephew visiting

    • +7

Good approach. I sometimes hear comments along the lines of "we don't have kids so no need to address risks to kids". So many injuries to kids are when they're visiting other kid-free households.

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • Thank you!

  • If you have Roman Blinds then consider getting one of these to tie off excess cords when the blind is open.
