Thanks OP, got a red one.

  • This newer model (?) Green one on sale for $108.37

Deal of the day: HUAWEI WATCH FIT

Smartwatch with 1.64 inch Vivid AMOLED Display, 10 Days Battery Life, 96 Workout Modes, Built-in GPS, 5ATM, SpO2 Detection, Heart Rate and Sleep Monitoring - Mint Green

    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08F412XPQ/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt…

    • The FIT has no barometer and no compass, also with 4 days shorter battery life.

      • +3

I googled the fit, wished I hadn't. Looks like someone got an Apple watch and made it even worse than it already is.

        • “Worse than it already is”? Are you referring to the appearance or the functionality? I love my Apple Watch, It’s the only tech device I use regularly other than my computer. I use it to check the weather, check my steps counter, read emails, read and send text messages/iMessages/Facebook messenger messages, answer and make calls, check notifications from ebay, bank, etc., ask it for directions while driving, track my bike rides, stopwatch, timers, heart rate. It makes me more connected without having to pull out a phone. It’s actually quicker than using the phone for a lot of things.

@ForkSnorter: If they ever manage to make it last 4-5 days i'd look at an apple watch, but the battery life is 100% kills it for me.

"Up to 18 hours. All-day battery life is based on 18 hours with the following use: 90 time checks, 90 notifications, 45 minutes of app use, and a 60-minute workout with music playback from Apple Watch via Bluetooth, over the course of 18 hours."

Why they even bothered enabling sleep tracking functions on it is beyond me..

            • @lulzenberg: In my experience, the battery life is better than advertised. Few people will use an Apple Watch app for 45 mins. Checking notifications takes a few seconds. I have the older Apple Watch 3, which has a bigger battery and smaller display than the more recent models, and no always-on display. I get 3 days battery life with light use, and 2 days with heavy use. But even if battery life was only 1 days I think I’d be fine. I don’t like wearing a watch to sleep, so charging it in the bedside table is as simple as taking my watch off.

              • @ForkSnorter: @lulzenberg: pointed that's dishonest to sell features that cannon be used without charging the battery every day - while sleeping. So the sleep function is useless as it will require charging before you wake up :(
The only reason I need smart watch is check the time & sleep tracking (I use Amazfit band 5,~$50). For everything else, my Galaxy Note 10+ is outstanding (even suggests my sleep period).

I have the GT2 Pro which is rated at 14 days, similar to the GT 2e - i got my partner the FIT as when she tried on the GT 2 it was way to big for her wrist.

        FWIW re: battery life

We both end up charging our watches around the same time, definitely not 4 days between. The ratings they give are based on "90 minutes of working out every week (GPS enabled)" and "30 minutes music playing every week" (not daily), among other things, but these 2 are the main battery drainers. A 45 minute run/walk each morning listening to music brings both of these in to about 7 days. I'm usually at 5% once we get back from our 7th daily run, she's usually at 3-4%.

I would still choose the GT2e/2 Pro over the FIT though solely on looks (there isn't a great difference between them unless you're hiking i guess). The faces available can really make it just look like a normal watch, where as the FIT just looks like a fitness band no matter what face you put on it.

Finally got a built-in gps smartwatch with 2 weeks battery life. Smartwatches with 1-2 day battery life should be dumped into rubbish bin before selling to customers.

    • +2

More of a fitness tracker than a smart watch

      • +1

Smartwatch = full size watch-look + some smart functions

I have a Mi Band which is indeed a fitness tracker.

        • +1

I had the original Huawei GT2 for 2 years, sold it and upgraded to the watch 4.

The differences in how smart and capable it is, as well as the difference in tracker quality etc. is immense.

Yes, it sucks going from 10-12 day battery life to about 1.5 to 2.0 days, but its well worth it IMO. Especially in my case, I bought the gt2 for ~$248, sold it for $180 after 2 years use, and got the Samsung for $360 (NZD$), and its a much newer [—> Updates] and premium device if you want a more enhanced experience.

For $125 though, the gt2e is a steal, and works for most people. I don't mind paying a premium for smart features and much better integration with my phone, and especially for HR tracking improvements

      • +2

If it doesn't have 1 weeks+ battery it's very dumb watch, no matter the hype.
Everything Mi Band doesn't do, the phone can do much better. No need for duplication & waste of money.

    • It's 2 weeks with GPS off. GPS on prolly 2 hrs.

  • +1

    This or the mi band?

    • +2

If you don't need GPS then save $70 by buying the mi band.

  • +1

    Garmin Venu or this?

    • +1

Garmin. App is likely to be much better. I have the Venu and it has been rock solid for swimming and running. May have slightly shorter battery life though.

    • What's the price difference?

  • +5

Doesn't have speaker, so cannot take phone calls

    • +13

Sounds like you need a phone.

    • +1

Doesn't have speaker, so battery lasts longer than a day.

      • GT2 (not e) has a speaker and same battery life

  • how is it compared to garmin?

  • Mine arrived last week from the last deal, pretty happy with the battery life and features so far.

Went for a GPS tracked 1hr run which burned through about 5% battery.

Upgraded from a mi band 5, wanted GPS on my fitness tracker after smashing my phone from a fall.

Also managed to get it to upload to Strava via a third party app. Took a little fiddling around, but works perfectly now.

    • Mine hasn't even shipped yet :(

      • +1

I msged Amazon customer service about the price drop and they even refunded me the price difference as a gesture of goodwill!

        • I messaged them and they said yeah nah. Just cancel the order and order again at the new price. No goodwill from me any more

  • Can this watch easily pause/play music? as it doesn't allow apps to install like spotify

    • You need to download MP3 files onto your phone and then transfer it via your phone to watch via bluetooth. Takes a minute or two for each song to transfer..

The songs easily play/ pause but you will need Bluetooth earphones. Could not figure out a way to play / pause /skip songs on the watch while tracking activities though but could do it with the touch controls on the earphones.

      • Is this good for downloaded podcasts or are there better wearable options to do this.

        • +1

It's not great for podcasts unless you plan to listen to it all in one sitting as you can't resume from a specific timestamp or rewind.

Also can't choose a specific song, or at least I haven't figured that out yet, so you need to keep skipping until you find the track / podcast

What is the usability like when paired with an apple iPhone?

  • I bought it last year for $150 from Aliexpress and love it.

  • Just want to see is how is this watch compare to a Google active 2? Anyone can give me advise please. Thinking to get the active 2 but this has a much lower price.

    • you mean samsung active 2? i've got the samsung and not a huge fan - battery is only a day or 2 compared to this which is 1-2 weeks. active 2 can make phone calls however which this one doesn't. if you want more functionality and maybebetter software and don't mind the battery life you can try the samsung - it has been a bit buggy for me at times also

      • Oops yes a samsung active 2 is what I have. I doesn't like the call function at all on my watch. Basically I just want to check message on my watch and track my steps. Get notification on my watch too.

        • +1

Get this one then, great value

  • i was going to get a fenix, would this be better to get?

    • Def not. Garmin is far better in terms of apps, features and prob quality.

  • -1

Keep in mind Huawei watches do not sync or connect to Strava. This is a deal breaker for most who are serious about fitness.

  • how about this compare to fossil gen 6?

    • Same as samsung
      + more apps, more features.
      - one-two days battery life, buggy, price

  • It seems red color is s not available any more?

  • Thanks OP, got a black 1 as red is back to full price. Was starting to get bored of the Fitbit / Mi shape/look so here we go. Nice find :)

  • anyones shipped yet?? 11 days still not shipped

    • Mine has, due to arrive by DHL on Monday.

  • How's the sleep tracking of this? Anyone here tried it out ?
