expired Kettle Potato Chips $2.50 @ Coles [Chilli Flavour Is Back!]
This was posted 1 year 2 months 5 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal
So the once discontinued Chilli flavour is back at Coles in, as far as I know, VIC stores. The classic taste is as it was originally (i.e. before they changed to a sweeter recipe ~2007), but less intense.
Here's the new packaging for those interested, http://tinyurl.com/NewPackaging.

I must go buy a lifetime supply in case they discontinue it again.
Thank you! :D

No. It's NOT back. It's just a different kind of fail.
The origial never had any tomato or onion powder, which is what made the second one such fail.
The 'new original' likewise uses tomato and onion powder for the bulk of the flavouring. If I wanted tomato chips I'd buy tomato chips.
I want chilli chips, so f*** you Kettle Co.

I think the trick is to post the single deal ie. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/66006 before the big combined post goes up then its ok and wont be duplicated in the big post.
A few people get the Coles and Woolies catalogues nearly two days before the big posts.

Can anyone confirm if they changed the recipe? Chili kettle chips used to be the best chips on the market until they changed the packaging, and for some reason the chili chips seemed significantly worse. Did anyone else think so too, or did I imagine it? Which 'flavour' are the ones at Coles?

+2 votesit was worse, it was a new weaker sweeter flavour.
When it was this package it was the best : http://www.especiallyoffice.com/webalogue/media/000Kettle_Po...
This packaging should be avoided at all costs, unless they have gone back to the true old recipe: http://www.eatshowandtell.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/ket...

this one was the best flavour
so hottttt (burns tongue, have to eat more to minimise the burn) lol

sydshopper on 22/03/2012 - 10:03 ¶Most Coles supermarkets and some IGA stores have them. Stock may be limited as they seems to be in demand!

O'Gradys, now THAT was THE best chips I'd ever eaten!
sigh

IndecentExposure on 23/03/2012 - 01:23 ¶I agree!!!! That was AMAZING. They discontinued, then brought it back and then discontinued again. I didn't see them on the shelves when I was busy stocking up big time on the honey baked ham though.
+1 voteBought a pack last week. Definitely not the 'original' recipe (apparently, too many complaints regarding the 'extreme' burn hence they were changed a few years back). But they do taste like the last incarnation, albeit perhaps a bit saltier. Still, they are an improvement on the Red Rock version which was a nice little filler inbetween.
The Honey Baked Ham varieties are almost near-impossible to find. Some IGAs and service stations range them, neither Coles or Woolies do so :(
+1 votebowtiehoon on 22/03/2012 - 11:21 ¶aw man, that's a bit of a disappointment, but not terrible…gonna give the new chilli a try for myself atleast
and what kinda douche complains chilli flavour is too hot? wtf…

I got some Honey Baked Ham few days ago thought it was on sale..Woolies had a sign stating Kettle Chips were all on sale..Well those weren't..I got jipped out of 99cents (lol) but those were terrible! :s So freaking sweet I felt like I was eating some sweet lolly..blegh.

Not sure why tbh. But for whatever reason Kettle listened to those customers complaining about the heat of the Chilli.
Also, looks like Coles are now ranged to carry the Honey Baked Ham flavour - just bought a pack. The Kettle revamp seems to have been a bit of a flop…perri perri chicken and lime/chilli are out. No surprise.
+1 voteOK just went a local Coles this morning and bought all 4 remaining Chilli packs. Definitely better than those sweet & sour flavour and Deli Flaming Chilli one, but the chips don't have as much red chilli powder coatedon them like the original one. Still good with straight chilli taste but not as good as the original.
NitroNinja on 22/03/2012 - 16:49 ¶Hey, is chilli available at woolies now? I've got a raincheck for 10 packs, $2.

+2 votesHad a friend, SolMan, who used to buy the chilli flavoured ones back in the day, cos he'd say if he'd bought any other flavour, his kids would finish them before he could get a chip in him, LoL!
But seriously, anyone that likes chilli favoured Kettles, just buy the plain flavoured ones and lightly sprinkle them with cayene pepper.
Much better imho.
+1 votejust brought the last 8 packs from coles.
the flavour is mild,
half sweet chilli and sprinkle of old chilli.kind of brings back the chilli flavour but not close to these ones;
http://www.flickr.com/photos/14266475@N05/3186612625/in/phot...now they were wayyy chill-er!!
samfisher5986 on 24/03/2012 - 12:40 ¶The original recipe was more crunchy, but I don't think its less crunchy then the previous recipe.
Also these are $2.50 at coles in QLD.

hell yea. I saw the chilli kettles on Monday :)
the packaging looks quite funky but it aesthetically makes it look less spicy lol
