  • I say it on every Carl's deal; the driest burgers I've ever had.

    • Me too. Its was hands down the worst burger I had. The fries were as bad as the burger. It was also cold and I believe 'not thawed' enough.

      • Yeah the fries are especially awful, I was quite surprised as most US fast food chains I've tried were pretty tasty

What time did you visit? I find that plays a big part in the quality of the burger.
Best time is around 1-1.30pm. Thats after the lunch time rush has exhausted the cooked meat supplies, and they've had to put fresh meat patties down.

If I can't get to a fast food joint now at the right time, I'll ask them to make the burger with fresh meat. That goes for all the chains. The 5 minute wait is much preferable to a burger patty that has been sitting in a heating tray for an hour

If I have to time my visit to make sure I'll get a bearable meal I'll go just go somewhere consistent.

          That's reality mate
To make a burger in 2 minutes, you need to have the meat pre-cooked. Fast food chains will attempt to predict future demand, and prepare the necessary stock, but they aren't able to do it perfectly. In theory, they're supposed to chuck it out after 20 minutes. In practice, managers get yelled at for waste, so they just reset the timer. The longer the meat sits there, the dryer it gets.
Best burgers come from places that are constantly busy, so the meat never has time to sit there for too long.

And for the record, I have no opinion on where you eat. You can eat dirt for all I care

    • To me their standard range is basically the equivalent of Hungry Jacks, however their Angus burger range is quite good for fast food.

I didn't know they came to australia

    • Only ones I have come across are Brisbane Airport and Western Port Highway in Cranbourne

      • The first 2 that ever came to Australia were Bateau Bay, NSW and Brisbane Airport.

I'm in Victoria and with my work travels by chance I happened to go past both within the same week just after they both opened. Then got sent to Adelaide and went past the Mt Barker one when that opened. Then they opened 2 of them in Cranbourne and I live in the SE Suburbs.

Its like as soon as a new one opens work just sends me to the area, and when I can't travel Carls Jr just start popping up around me. I can't get away from em!

I don't know how they're still doing well lol

Not a bad way to "try all the things" and see if there's anything to put them on the radar. One being built near me (Clayton South, corner of Clayton Rd & Bourke Rd), looks like it's opening on the 10th!

How do you claim this? I can't see it anywhere on the mycarls V2 app

    • I think you can only redeem it at a chain

  • yeah the reason why they are colder is they have a quick service guarantee. So the order has to be ready in a certain time. However, it seems like no one has checked temp after this. Taste and quality is better than the maccas or hj's, so I basically switched.
