Koss PortaPro Headphones from MyMemory.co.uk - £18.04+£1.95 Shipping (~AUD $30.50)

380

I was searching for a budget headphone and came across this. Mymemory.co.uk has 37% offer making it around 32 AUD.

By its looks, its an outdated model but its in the market since 1984. It doesn't have the noise cancellation feature. But Best value for the money. Highly recommended by reviews and users. well, if it was not that good, it wouldn't have survived for long 26 years….. :)

I am currently using this more than 1 and 1/2 year. So far perfect headphone. Highly Recommended. However, you need to be aware that it's wire is quite short and easily broken

    • i have to add that the head band automatically resets so you have readjust the size and the comfort/pressure thing doesn't really work. besides those 2 things the sound is good

  • Purchased. On 28 Degrees it should work out to ~30.40AUD (after 5% off coupon).

  • Yeah, i have had a pair of KOSS for a while now and I am pleasantly surprised at how good they are. Not a bad deal.

  • Great headphones. Great price
Lifetime warranty I think. Mine have been going strong for 7 years. I did mange to blow my first pair but they were replaced without question or hassle

Did u buy that from AU retailers or outside. Someone in the below comments contacted the local dealer and they said 25 + 9 AUD for getting it repaired / replaced. would you mind us giving the details how u got it replaced? thanks in advance….

  • Good headphones but one side snapped on mine after a year. Must find out how to get a warranty claim!

    • I just posted mine off with a copy of the receipt. new pair were posted back within a couple of weeks.

      • Nice. Wish I kept my receipt. But if it's a lifetime warranty, receipt should matter! Have emailed distibutor.

I have this headphone for last 10 years and it has not missed a beat. Only thing I had to change was the ear foam that surrounds the speakers. I purchased it for $99 with lifetime warranty then. Still works the same as day one…and …no I do not work for Koss.

  • just bought 1. heard many good things about this brand.
    thx for the post.

  • How does this compare to the Audio Technica ATH-M50?

    • m50's would trounce all over these.

porta-pro's are pretty much one of the better headphones you can get for the price that are portable.

  • Ordered. Thanks!

  • Not a bad little pair. They produce good sound for their size. If you're rough with your headphones, these aren't the ones for you imo. As for the warranty, any damage is basically going to be wear and tear, so a warranty is basically pointless.

  • Hi kids,

I recently spent (way too much) time looking into low price/reasonable quality headphones and ended up going for these from http://www.meelec.com/category_s/348.htm
They haven't arrived yet but ended up being $35 delivered from California. Reviews seem reasonable and they haven't got 'bass boosterrooster' written on the side, like off the shelf cheapos locally available. They are on-ear like the Koss.

    • Hmmm look ok. Pity I just ordered the Koss ones..

    • looks a good deal. great looks (KOSS is old man style). One of my friends has both KOSS and MEE and he suggested to go for KOSS if i am not much worried about the looks. MEE HT 21 has noise isolation on spec - but practically its almost like it doesn't have that feature. Anyway thanks for this link - i will try this as well next time when I can spare some more money.

    Guys, note on warranty.

I emailed the local dealer (got email from the Koss website).

Essentially, if your set isn't local (with receipt), you'll have to pay $25 plus shipping costs to them to repair or send it back to the US along with US$9 for return shipping.

Sure, it's 'lifetime' warranty but claiming might end up possibly costing more than a new pair.

    • What happens if you pay the $25 and it breaks again? Would it then be classed as Australian for cheaper repair? Also how much does it cost to send a local pair in for warranty?

      • I have no idea. Mine was a gift (no receipt). So I haven't decided what to do yet.

Dealer claims that they bear costs of repairs, not Koss. And that there are too many fakes out there.

    • You can try sending them back to MyMemory.

i have been eyeing this pair for ages but havent decided until now coz my my rents lol, u guys have done it.

btw the return policy of mymemory is brilliant. i bought a sennheiser px100 from them, it broke after 1.5 years. fortunately it comes with 2 years warranty, had to send it back and they gave me a full refund on the item+ shipping cost.
    highly recommend this company.
