Why is half their product images some weird weeb nonsense?

    • +4

      It's just Moondrop's thing

    • +1

That’s just modern chinese IEM branding nowadays.
They’re generally really good for value though

    • I think they're engravings you can have haha

    • I think theyre engravings lol

  • I have the moondrop starfield. I stopped buying IEMs once I got that.

    • same, chifi has gone so good/value nowadays……….

    • +1

Yeah, once you buy the starfields/aria its hard to find an upgrade. I'd still say these are the next step up from those though. After this, youre gonna be looking into the thousands range for an upgrade over the blessings

      • +1

        starfields or aria?
Which one is better if you like good bass

        • +1

had both at one point. Aria sound virtually identical to starfields but at a lower price. If you look at the frequency response graphs of both, you can see that the aria have slightly more sub-bass. But to my ears theyre almost identical. So i'd go for the aria.

          • @zjz93: can you actually notice a different between these and starfields/aria

    • Have much did you pay for them?

  • +1

Dusk variant arguably still worth the extra $70, but you can get the original on Moondrop or Shenzhen's store for less once you factor in coupons and cashbacks ($352).

There's also the cheaper 7Hz Timeless and the Moondrop Kato to consider before pulling the trigger.

    • +1

I'd say the regular 2's are easy enough to eq to preferences to the dusk freq response. not to mention dusk arent on sale. So better value here I guess.

I think biggest selling point of these over the kato and 7hz is the soundstage.

      • Sorry just realised I didn't mention where it was $352: AliExpress sales with tonight's cashbacks.

        • so to achieve 352$ you use the 15% cashback + aliexpress code. correct? Thats a pretty good deal not gonna lie

only downside i can think of is that aliexpress support is probably inferior to shenzhenaudio.

          • @zjz93: I mean the support is from Moondrop and Shenzhen themselves, just via AliE, which means you can send your return to AliE's Melbourne point of contact I think, or at least a free return label.

    • Think I have asked you this before however would these be an upgrade to the Sony mdr-ex1000?

      • +2

As I understand the EX1000, it would be a tonal upgrade, but that's about it. The Sony has a pretty big spike at between 5-6kHz, before getting quite dark after 12kHz.

If you're looking for something more balance with more treble extension, the Blessing 2 is arguably a sidegrade, with the Dusk tweaking it further.

Genuine upgrades for you while considering technical performance might be the ThieAudio Monarch (or the Monarch Mk2 to take the tonality even further), and the Unique Melody MEST Mk2, but what you gain on tonality you perhaps lose in BA timbre elements.

    • yeah I was so keem on this sale until I saw the dusk wouldn't be included.. If I got the standard ones, I'd always be wondering what the dusk would have been like so I think I'm just guna sit this one out..

I think the 7hz are a bit more niche, the blessing 2 is just a nice neutral-ish hybrid, safe bet.. the 7hz are if you want to see what great planar iems are like. If you have a selection of headphones then the timless are a great add, but if you are just looking for a good set of in ears the blessing 2 is the buy IMO.

The kato isn't on sale either is it?

      • +1

Kato isn't on store discount, but it triggers site coupons and cashbacks, though not via the Moondrop store for the latter.

  • Would this be a good upgrade if you already have the Starfield?

    • Definitely. this is probably one of the only upgrades that will be satisfying and noticeable from the starfields. Noticeable increase in soundstage especially.

  • just got my moondrop Aria recently, do I really need an upgrade to this one xD ?

  • Do you need an amp for these?

    • no. Should drive straight out of your phone/out of dongles

  • +1

How would these compare to Sony IER Z1R and Shure SE846? I always want an IEM for gym/running. These aren't too expensive so could be an alternative

    • I own a few over ear headphones Senn HD600 / HD598 / Momentum 1 over ears but looking to get into IEMs for the convenience. I’m interested in knowing how these are in comparison to the Shure SE846 as well (I own the wireless version of the SE215s but not too impressed) Not too fussy about price if the upgrade is going to be significant (I hear everyone talking about the Dusk variant)

      • Gotta love the Huh Duh Six-Hunge-0's by old mate Senny

  • Personally I think you're better off buying direct from this seller.

He has local warranty so having to ever send back an item wont cut into an expensive venture imo.

    • Yeah, but they also don't have the wooden plates which imo looks amazing and its bit more expensive. Shenzhen's support is also really good. So I'd say it's worth it to buy from Shenzhen for those who want it for just a bit cheaper.

      • +1

I think again you're missing the point of local warranty, RRR where with OS warranty you have to pay for shipping insurance and registration back and also have that wait.
Cheaper doesn't always mean better in the long run, I am in no way disputing Shenzhen audio and their handling of warranties, I am simply stating that supporting a local business offsets any Johnny Dramatic issues in the future.

Either way, people have both options.

    • Thanks for the link I paid a bit more but ordered from this seller for peace of mind and quick shipping. Loving them so far very good balanced sound.
