Can be also pre-ordered for less at Advent Games for $199.95 plus shipping ($10 to $15) - https://www.adventgames.com.au/p/9528483/heroquest-heroic-ti…

However in saying that, I've not used Advent games but have had good experience with The Gamesmen.

I still have the original from 30 years ago.

Me too. Though I got it out recently and my son sat and squashed the box. I miss my son.

My bro has that plus one of the addons. I ended up with Space Crusade plus the addon. Such memories!

    • +1

Me too! Though most of my Orcs and Goblins have had unfortunate accidents and no longer have connected ankles.

  • hmmm, I have the Mythic Tier preordered through EB, but its $300. Anyone know any better price? Can't remember if it was a limited amount at that tier or what… I just nostalgia clicked…

    • +1

Think we already got a pretty good deal on that to be honest, especially since they hit some stretch goals and and what-not along the way. I haven't seen many (or any..) ability to purchase Mythic at retail at all from what I've seen.

Does yours still have tomorrow as the 'release' date out of curiosity? Been checking my order for the last month or so and it keeps bouncing around from early November, to December, until finally landing on the 17th of this month 🤔

      • I got a shipping notification that my mythic pack was arriving today from AusPost. I'm actually on-selling it as I need some extra cash for the christmas leadup. You wont get the mythic tier again as it was a Hasbro Pulse Exclusive (like a Kickstarter exclusive), they will probably just sell the individual bits for more.

        • Oh a shipping notification? Were you able to purchase directly from Pulse?
I just went through Zing/EB Games and don't have a single line of communication with anyone, relying on them to let me know.
Was maybe going to pop up there tomorrow and see if it's in.

          • +1

@Stoibs: Ok so a few things. I went through EB games directly. I got a notification in late september that the rest of the payment was due. I had it attached to an expired credit card and had to call them to change it over. It showed in my EB account under pre-orders the whole time. Todays notifications were from Australia Post as well as EB saying it had been shipped and is due. I've got a partner at home waiting for the delivery.

As its an online pre-order thing you need to call their head office on 13 39 30 for details. Thats what I did. Good luck!

            • @Intoxicoligist: Oh that makes sense, I just did click and collect and didn't even consider delivery (don't think I've ever done a delivery order from EB before :P)
Guessing they all came into Australia recently and are being distributed then :)

          • @Stoibs: let me know how you go - same boat here - no communication and just the $50 deposit taken so far.

            • @avarice: No luck today, guy told me that the trucks had indeed arrived but everything was still in containers and needed to be sorted.
Guessing either tomorrow or Friday will be ready for pickup maybe.

            • @avarice: Received a phone call just now letting me know it's available for pickup :D

          • @Stoibs: Your original EB Games preorder email should have a link to an online invoice that has an ETA, and once shipped, a link to an Australia Post tracking site.

          • +1

@Stoibs: They wouldn't direct ship to Australia for the Hasbro Pulse Exclusive, however I was able to order the Mythic Tier via ShopMate.

I got notifications from Hasbro last week that it was delivered and then the ShopMate notifications to redirect. ShopMate currently says it will be delivered this week though I'm dubious so you would imagine that EB's orders wouldn't be far off being received/processed I would've thought.

        • Do you have a buyer yet? I'm keen, missed out on ordering 😭

          • @cook99: Yeah I've got a bunch of people messaging me on Facebook Marketplace. Will probably end up going for something like ~350-400 +shipping.

            • @Intoxicoligist: Just FYI, just the stretch goals box alone (not including the base game and 2 expansions) is going for US$380+ on Ebay US.

        • I just paid $700 USD on eBay to buy someone's Mythic Tier and have it shipped from the US. I only found out about the game being rebooted a few days ago, so I hella missed the pre-sale.

It is an insane amount of money, but the I'd gladly pay it for the hours of fun I'll get to spend with my family. I'm pumped.

          • +1

@Lan Mandragoran: Damn, I ended up selling mine for $450 to a local as I wont have time for it.

            • +1

@Intoxicoligist: Heh, yeah, there's one for >$400 AUD at the moment. Ah well… Nevertheless, it'll still be worthy the time with my family.

      • Yeah, just did a quick search and cant find that tier anywhere else. Yep, my order says 17/11 release, but that doesnt seem right. On the Hasbro Pulse website it says this:

This pre-order item will be available to ship on approx 12/15/2021

so translating for stupid american dates, mid december. I'd be surprised if we get it this year.

  • So when it says "heroic tier" does that mean it includes some stretch goals that won't be available down the track? Or is this the exact same game we should be able to purchase for a ore reasonable price 6 months down the line? (I know the mythic tier has the two add-ons and a really cool dragon model addition)

Disappointed no one has shared the world's best review of this game https://youtu.be/Cx8sl2uC46A

    • Thank you. That made my day a little better.

      • I knew it was going to be the Bardic broadcast. Is a regular watch for me

  • "Hang on a second, I remember playing this nearly thirty years ago and being afraid of the Gargoyle."

Edit: Also, that golden hoard is only pyrite.

  • Why didn't i know of this?? :/

Phoned mum. "Is there an old boardgame in the cupboard called Heroquest?" ……yeah you also have one called battle masters and globetrotters and if you don't take them soon they are going to vinnies. It's been 30 years and she has not taken them to vinnies……..but I'll grab them next week. Thanks for the reminder OP

    • +3

Let her take them to Vinnies… tell me which one though.

    First I've heard of this.
I loved this game as a kid.
I just pinged my sister and to see if it was still at my Mums house back in the UK…
Apparently all my old board games (Original Axis and Allies as well) got put out in the street for collection during Covid lockdown.
    Oh well…

    • Nooooo!

(Hopefully they brought side joy to a lockdown kid though.)

  • Can anyone let me know why this game so popular and so many people looking after this?
Its because nostalgia thing or its has good mechanism / gameplay / component etc?
Boardgame gameplay mechanism has been improved a lot over the years, is this one still relevant?
the ratings in BGG doesnt seems so high.

Sorry for many questions but when I googled, i only found Bardic video

    • +1

It's mostly nostalgia. People who played it when they were kids now want to be able to play it with their children. Yes, some of the game mechanics are considered a bit old and outdated, but it's still a solid game.

    • I loved the miniatures then, and the fantasy theme. It is be essentially D&D Lite. That wasn't something one could easily come by in the past. I specifically wanted the Mythic Tier for all of the additional campaigns for increased reliability.

  • I'm after a Mythic tier if anyone is willing to sell theirs.

  • This post ended up inspiring me to get a 3D printer, just ordered one.

I loved this as a kid, I thought about getting the game plus the expansions and realised for that price I've got half a decent 3D printer. So I went that way and I will now print my own figurines, with blackjack, and hookers.
