  • Great deal! Probably a US power cord?

    • If anything itll just be the mickey mouse or figure 8 plugs attached to a brick. Simple enough to swap out with an AU model if required.

    Wow this is great.

How is Newegg on the doa or warranty side of things?

  • Is it a bit weird for a laptop of this day/age without a single type-c/TB port?

e: Some reviews show the mini-dp upgraded for a usb-c type display port, but it doesnt seem so in the pictures of this listing.

    • I kinda prefer the mini display port as its a very solid connection. Every USB C port I've used on other laptops for display ends up getting flaky and not working 100% after a while (drops in and out).

    • Such a bizarre omission! No USB-C /Thunderbolt in a 2021 laptop. Especially when Thunderbolt 4 is a big selling point for Intel 11th gen laptops.

This is a great price. I got one of these back in July for $3149. Absolute beast, beats out my R7 5800X 3060ti (FHR) desktop. Fans on full are pretty loud, but cool VERY well.

    • Where did you get it from? Don't mind paying a bit more for local warranty.

    • What's the closest desktop equivalent for the gpu? Can you run some benchmarks even a 3d mark score or any other gpu related score might give us some hints as to which desktop gpu it gets closest to.

There is no way it is near the desktop 3080 but I wonder if it is closer to the 3070 or 3070 ti. Great price.

      • I did some research and found that the laptop 3080 is closest to a desktop 3060 ti and the 11800H CPU is close to a desktop 8600K.

The laptop 3080 is 40% slower than a desktop 3080.

        I hope this helps someone.

        • Emmm excuse me but where did your research come from? Because they are wrong by quite a mile

The GPU comparison is not far off, the 3080m is closest to a 3060ti-given that it is full powered. For which this specific model is not, the chip inside the gp66 is a 130w(115w+15wDB) 3080 that fell quite a few points behind the 165w (150w+15w) variant.

And then there is the cpu, I dont know what site you looked at but they are completely BS. The 11800h is a 10mm superfin chip with 8c16t that completely outclasses an old 14mm+++++++++++ 6c6t chip no matter how much one overclocks out of that thing. In single threaded r23 benchmarks its between a desktop 11700 and 11400 (both non-k) and multicore wise its around deskptop 9900/10700 (both non-k). Heck, in gaming you probably would see better results than the aforementioned chips thanks for the 24mb of l3 cache on the 11800h vs 12/16mb on the desktop side.

          • @Brrrrt: Sorry I didn't do very good research I admit. I spent less than an hour on it just googling and not reading many articles just very simple google results.

Damn I need to stop using that first result CPU comparison website.

            It really is very misleading.

So which desktop gpu is this variant closest to?

            The 3060 or 3060 ti.

And which desktop CPU is this closest to?

I apologise if my information was incorrect.

            • @AlienC: This GPU is certainly better than a 3060 desktop by all means. But also weaker than even the lowest end 3060ti out there.

As for CPU, its roughly what I have said in the other comment, single core wise its comparable to medium range 11gen desktop chips, and multicore wise its roughly around what a 9th/10th gen desktop 8c16t chip would perform. All those values are based on non-k variants, so not overclocked machines in which case the desktop chips will have a big advantage.

      • It's somewhat between a 3060 ti and a 3070 afaik

        • That sounds about right.

  • Can the RAM be upgraded?

    • +1

      I believe so.

  • Nice! This is the same laptop that Apple used in their M1 Pro/Max comparison graphs in their recent keynote.

The specific model they compared was the MSI GP66 Leopard 11UG-018 (RTX 3070)

      local warranty

      better cooling

      better port selection

      gp66 pros

      240hz screen

      1t stock ssd

      ever so slightly better gpu performance (130w 3080 8gb vs 140w 3070 8gb)

      per key rgb

will come quicker than legion even though it ships from the states

      • thanks for the reply! I usually use a monitor but I'll go for the legion cause I can upgrade to 32gb ram in chat.

        • understandble. Just wondering, what price did the chat got you? Cause you can potentially get a better deal just going 16gb, and buy a 32gb set on sale and swap it out yourself and sell the ram.

          • @Brrrrt:

            1. I wasn't sure if people bought 16gb ram, like if I would have trouble selling it or not
