  • Sounds like a really good deal. Certainly takes care of the optus timeless plan. I had one question though.. Is this deal only for tpg customers that have tpg adsl or other internet connections. Can some new customer to tpg simply sign up to the mobile contracts??
Also, I don't understand how tpg suddenly offer mobile contracts. Do they go through optus or telstra or this is actually their own service?

    • yes. everyone can subscribe it.

      • Then I don't get it. How can they offer Optus $49 (or $79) cap for only $19 (or $39)? That does not make any sense. Especially with no contract. Why would anyone ever join with Optus directly if they get identical deal half price.

        • Because if you sign up to an Optus cap on contract, you get a free phone (or very cheap phone). You do the math: $49 optus cap gets your a $700-800 Nokia N95 8GB…its gotta come from somewhere (the total for a 49 cap over 24month is $1176, so most of this fee is obviously paying for your "free" phone.

Meanwhile, the 49cap on TPG costs you only $479.76 if you were to stay for the same period of time. So about $700 extra and you get a $700 phone..it all adds up, you're just paying for the phone in instalments one way, or going without a new phone the other way.

    • Stubbled across this plan this evening…Yeah certainly takes care of the timeless plan if your after calls. Timeless plans you get a good amount of data and a phone (including an Iphone) included in the quota but only a 24 month term for timeless plans. oh and $50 more expensive!!! ANYONE can sign up for these plans goblin. They are a an Optus reseller…

  • Wow, hopefully this will shake up the competition.

  • Does seem to be a genuine plan. Did some research and please read comments on the following link:

Seems like large number of people have issues connecting to tpg mobile. They report extremely poor customer service and extreme problems when trying to port your old number from previous provider.

  • TPG is getting to be really aggressive in their pricing. I wonder whats up. pinky to lips

  • Good to see some competition, however, with most phones these days you also want a data cap / bundle. Still waiting before I switch…

    • Me too.

  • Not bad, but such a huge pity that 1300 and 1800 numbers are $1.20ish per minute. How can this be justified?

  • This is a good plan. you can use your free mobile calls as international calls using AussieCall number 424215122. by this you can make free calls to more then 70 countries.
