From their T&C - “The IKEA product will be returned clean, unmodified and completely assembled”. That’d hard to fit furniture into your car….

You can assemble it in-store before the IKEA staff comes to check it.

  • awesome, been waiting for buy-back to reopen.

"Due to the current restrictions in VIC, the Buy Back service is currently suspended for IKEA stores in VIC until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience."

I do not believe this is valid in Vic, just a heads up. It might be good to add this to the description so people don't cart all their furniture in and then crack the shits.

    • Their COVID-19 FAQs for Victoria says that buy back has reopened but the actual buy back website still says the service is suspended in Victoria. It's a bit ridiculous we'll probably have to miss out on this deal in Victoria due to 'current restrictions' when there really aren't any restrictions that are still in place that would be impacting the buy back program?

Last time this deal was on, I borrowed my mates trailer, hit marketplace and gumtree hard, planned out a pickup day (optimised route) and made 4 figures in a day low balling and then taking to IKEA.

You need to do a tonne of research though to check what IKEA estimates they will pay so you can get a decent margin. Then deal with weird sketchy sellers. Not for everyone but if you can't help but grind…

    • I like the cut of your jib

Way to run a solid game

    • Doesn't Ikea pay this back in Ikea credit though, not cash?

      • Yeah which you can also use for meals and food section 😎

      • I have a house and a wife. 4 figures over 3 years at IKEA is childs play.

    • Last time it was double (100% extra) this is only 50% will be harder to achieve. Last time they were also super picky (IKEA Logan) looking for any excuse to downgrade rating or not buy it (water marks for example).

Off-topic but wondering for anyone who has purchased something for a delivery, whether they have received the item?? It's been 2 weeks for mine, upon purchase I didn't even get a receipt confirmation from IKEA, nor can I see any detail of my purchases on the IKEA website, nor ORDER no., just Paypal. Really strange coming from IKEA…even their comms are unresponsive, haven't heard a response from them via email or call.

  • Just to update all, it seems while the offer is only available until the 6/12 if you register your return now, the return ticket (and boosted value) will be valid until 30 days from estimate creation date.

Credit in the form of Ikea card though.

First time use to service. I brought a study desk (rarely used, no scratches) in today. The estimated price only is up to $97.5 online, but after carefully checking by two IKEA "inspectors", the staff offered $15 for buyback. Too heavy to bring it back, so sell it for $15 + 7.5 bonus, wont use this service again.

    • That’s a common experience.
