Tags Aren’t Reliable on Comments

Why when someone replies to you and tags you, I don’t always get notified? If I don’t check OzBargain for 24 hours say then there could be plenty more comments and I get notified about the latest comment. I should always get a seperate notification per tag but it’s not set up that way. Can it be changed so that I always get notified of a tag in a comment?

  • How often are you being tagged @billybob1978

when someone replies to you and tags you

Why are they tagging you if they are replying to your thread?

    • I think @billybob1978 must get tagged alot

      • I think you are correct @spackbace

        Please confirm @billybob1978

      • Haha not at all. I noticed it again today. There was a notification for a new comment on a thread which I clicked on and then happened to see above that where I was tagged in a reply. Had a not seen it I would’ve had no idea I replied to a comment of mine and tagged me. When I say tagged I mean someone replies and it creates a hyperlink to my profile.

I did however get 2 notifications on this post - 1 for a new comment and 1 for the @ tag.

        • +1

You'll only ever get 1 notification per post, regardless of how many comments have been replied to in the post itself

          • @spackbace: Yeah why though? I get when there have been multiple comments only 1 notification but if you’re tagged in a reply then check the next day you’d never see it unless you are lucky.

            • @bobwokeup: Because otherwise you could get spammed with notifications (say for example if you did an AMA). Easier to jump back to a post from the 1 notification and have a look

              • @spackbace: True that, in those circumstances I’d unsubscribe from notifications on that post. There has to be a better way than how it is currently set up. I don’t like missing notifications, especially when a fellow OzBargainer is asking a question I could answer.

                • @bobwokeup: You can click on the notification and then with the arrows at the bottom, scroll through all the new comments.
