I have the Realme 7 5G and really impressed by it. Had it for over a year and its been more than solid. Would buy Realme again. Love the huge battery, feels solid, camera is great, its not too big & heavy like the Poco. The Realme 7 had 120hz screen, this has 90hz, but its AMOLED, which is pretty amazing for the price!

      Yeah same. Still love it.

      Is it a mediatek processor?
Do you notice any lag or issues?

      • +5

I came from an Samsung s9+ (which just out of the blue started getting super dooper hot and then the screen just went all green, to the point it was un-useable, yes that's right, out of the blue it went green) and I would rate the speed similar to the s9+. Not laggy for me. And its only roughly 1/3 of the price.

      • My apologies, was sure it was AMOLED. Sorry!

    • +1

      Shit camera tho

    • I like it in general but after upgrading to Android 11 my wifi is not very stable. Do you guys have any issues like that?

  • +2

This only has one usable camera. No Ultrawide.

    48 MP, f/1.8, 26mm (wide), PDAF
    2 MP, f/2.4, (macro)
    2 MP, f/2.4, (depth)

    • Has anyone who bought one used the rear camera much? Did photos turn out ok? I've got a moto g8 and the camera is pretty rubbish.

      • Budget phone cameras will never compare with flagship cameras.

If you want top notch photos.

        Get a Pixel 2/3/4.

        • Not after top notch by any stretch, just something equally as good as an old $100 point and shoot haha, if I want to take a really good photo I'll use my dslr

  • Tempted by this, do the band's cover all the ones used in Australia?

I'm actually going to the UK next week, so could just get it sent straight there.

    • +1

You won't pay VAT (GST) if you get it sent to Australia, or anywhere overseas for that matter. Up to you.

      • Yeah you are right it's £219 in the UK, hmm really wanted a new phone for whilst I was there, might consider getting something else before I leave.

  • A solid 5G phone for under $300

  • +2

The Amazon description states this has an AMOLED display, it does not.

The X3 Pro is the better phone but, comes with MIUI.

  • How close is this to a clean Google pixel experience ? currently have a pixel 3xl and previous google phones before then.
Not sure I want to she'll out $1k on a phone again ,how would this rate against them, for a mixture of city and rural WA use

I bought an as new Pixel 3XL of ebay for $208 and really happy with the phone and clean O/S.

Have a few other phones I use for media consumption which have better battery life

( then also keeps my Pixel lasting easily the day with regular phone calls/txting/photos etc ).

This phone is a decent deal if you need a new phone in that budget, you would get used to the O/S,

but performance, screen, camera will be step(s) backwards. Maybe wait a bit longer if you really need/want 5G

as prices will come down more next year, at least wait for one with Amoled screen for below $350 or so.

      Just my 2 cents worth.

but performance, screen, camera will be step(s) backwards.

        Important bit here

        • Haha, you are correct, bit long winded.

Some people like a bit of context, but can understand if a bit tl;dr lol.

      • +1

Pixel 3xl still my favorite phone ever have had ,just wish the battery a tad longer

        • Yeah, up to now for me too. Phones in the past I loved were Nexus 4, HTC 10 / Redmi Note 4

simultanius use, Moto G5 Plus and now my Redmi Note 10 / Pixel 3 XL simultanious use

( in order to extend the battery life of the Pixel haha ).

5g.. I turned it off on my s21+5g

eats through the battery at double speed

  • Expected deliver is Jan 5th 2022. Wow, didn't expect it to take that long

    • From UK and take that long, hope it won't mess up like my drum.

    • It's the CC combo ( Covid/Christmas ).

  • What is Realme UI like?
MIUI has turned me off Xiami phones completely, so would be curious to hear about people's experience with Realme UI out there

    • I am using Samsung and Xiami note 9, the MIUI has different design to Samsung but the same functionality. But within the same price range, Xiami is far faster and smoother phone to run apps

Not too heavily skinned - like all androids, it's got BookFace and associated "let us run your phone rather than your phone run us" detrius but unlike LG/Nexus/Motorolas I've had, you can remove them rather than disabling them.

It has the best bits of LG without the overhead, the "RealMe" ecosystem is easily ignored if you prefer to go through [say] Opera, DDG or Brave browsers - unlike Sony who would consistently push the idea that they were the new Apple and would push self-serving "join our club and buy all your media here" that turned technically brilliant products into annoying bill-boards, or LG, who would offer more subdued nags.

It's not as vanilla as Nexus or Moto, but intuitive and all the add-ons are easily ignored - or even useful.

My main annoyances are [1] the camera sometimes working quickly, other times appearing to want you to select and confirm in the same session at the same scene, however i carry an SLR if I want a real photo, and [2] The 'feature' where if you set an alarm, (ring one, no sleep), you will get a useful [/s] notification anywhere between 5 and 15 minutes letting you know that your alarm will sound shortly…

The battery on the RealMe 7 5G beats my earlier champion, the Nexus 5, while doing a whole lot more. The DART fast-charge means 30 minutes gets you a full tank should you have missed a charge cycle, and I can easily get 2 days messaging, a few calls and providing a couple of hours Bluetooth car audio each day, albeit on 4G.

      [All referenced from a 7 5G].

    • not sure but only 4gb vs 6gb ram is an obvious difference

  • Wow I wanna repair my xiomai mi max 3, with new digitizer but this deals killa on everything.

Still love the mi max range.

  • Would it support VoLTE on boost?

  • I purchased an seller cancelled the order. Did anyone else have any luck ?

  • Anyone actually received it?
