Yamaha YH-E700A Active Noise Cancelling Wireless over-Ear Headphones $279 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

60

Not the lowest it has ever been, but pretty close (just $4 off). Yamaha YH-E700A Active Noise Cancelling Wireless Over-Ear Headphones (Black)
* Yamaha Listening Care
* Yamaha Advanced Active Noise Cancellation
* Maximum 35 Hours Playback (Advanced ANC On)

I got these a while ago and I'm very happy, sound quality wipes the floor with anything out of Bose or the Sony XM4s. Noise cancellation may not be as good, but sound quality is more important to me.

  • “sound quality wipes the floor with anything out of Bose or the Sony XM4s”

    Would be nice to back up such an emphatic comment with a frequency response graph.

    At least we have those with the XM4 and QC35II’s. Also, we know the Bose have a fairly solid FR straight out of the box, and the Sony, while very warm in the midbass, actually sound quite good once the 1k and 2.5k EQ sliders have been increased via the app.

    • +1

      I don't know how credentialed this reviewer/website is but at least to gives an overview of the frequency response graph: https://www.soundstagenetwork.com/index.php?option=com_conte…

      Tl:dr: they will sound weird when compared with other headphones that base it on an industry standard. If you like it, go for it, but one you probably should test out first.

      • Very respected. Brent uses a GRAS 43AG which is industry standard.

        That FR is absolutely funky. Personally I’d steer well and truly clear of these cans, but horses for courses I guess.

      • Yeah… thats absolutely not much better than sony. one word: bloated

        bose 700 and qc35 are tuned to resemble harman curve, at least. without the bloated bass

  • Now these actually look like cans 🤣

  • Bass is huge on these. I wish I could turn it down. But at the same time they sound incredible.

    edit: the noise cancelling turns the bass down somewhat
