mellosweep on 05/04/2012 - 15:57 ¶if i recall its expensive. for 2 coffees and a couple of donuts the last time it cost me time over $20+ bux.
pentridgesx on 05/04/2012 - 14:02 ¶The catch is only for a dozen of "Original Flavored Doughnuts" Wish it could be a mixed dozen :)

I did have a heart attack.

Ever since they closed all the stores in shopping centres, its been too inconvenient to get to. In Melbourne anyway.
Fountain gate is too far and the city is inconvenient to get to just for donuts. If it weren't so hard and validity date not so tight, i would definitely get a few as i used to get a dozen original glazed and another mixed from chaddy all the time when it was still open

Debating now whether I should go back again, as the stores aren't so conveniently located any more, but this is a good price for Krispy Kreme as they were $12.90 for a dozen back in 2006, but gradually increased to $15.95 and have been that price for a while.
ieatcrackers on 05/04/2012 - 18:46 ¶Luckily very few. I think I was about 46kg back then, and I'm 48kg now. Quite a few people said how fat I'd be by the end of the year and now people ask how I am not fat! Also, it was a dozen a week, so 52 boxes (624 doughnuts), but I managed to get 53, and still have the last notch left unpunched in my golden ticket, but I doubt that they'll honour it now.
+1 votewalletinspector on 05/04/2012 - 17:34 ¶Probably the most overrated donuts in the world imo. Ive only had them a few times but this deal doesnt seem cheap to me, how much are they normally?
+1 votelord henry on 05/04/2012 - 18:25 ¶$16 for a box is excessive especially considering people in Australia as a rule don't buy whole boxes of doughnuts, but at $8, I think I'll get a box.
Then I'll remember why I haven't had any of them for years.
Just make them yourself at home;
Crownanchor on 05/04/2012 - 22:16 ¶Something doesnt look right, 60 votes on OzBargain and only 30 sold on Groupon. Didnt see this deal in Melbourne or Brisbane Groupons, just the Sydney linked deal.
klyvenator on 05/04/2012 - 23:02 ¶The counter is funny, when I went to buy it jumped up to 200 but now it's gone back down to 30..

2543 clicks through, from here alone and only 32 purchased? I don't think so. There's been some publicity about deal sites over selling, so perhaps they're keeping the counter down to make it look good. It's been 7.5 hours since klynvenator spotted the counter at 30 yet it's now on 32. AS IF!
liveyourlife on 06/04/2012 - 11:04 ¶Can I use these with the 'Buy one dozen get another dozen free'?
Cause my union membership book has a couple of those vouchers.
liveyourlife on 06/04/2012 - 17:00 ¶Anyone want a BOGOF voucher?

Hope it works for you. :)

can people who say they are bad for you elaborate with scientific facts - as long as you don't eat the whole box (or even half a box) in a day nothing is going to happen.
it really bothers me when people only eat salads, fruits and nuts and moan that mcdonalds and what not is bad for you… especially people who say KFC makes them sick… KFC easily has the best chicken burger of all the fast foods and the nutrition information they provide seems quite reasonable.

Depends what you mean by "bad for you".
If you find yourself near a book shop at some point in the near future, look for the book "Why We Get Fat" by Taubes. He collects many different studies together on different nutrients in food, and basically concludes through this extensive literature review that Carbohydrates are the common link between most of the different studies - one study in fact had a group of 300 people; where 150 of them ate no carbs per day, and ate pure/raw lard for a high fats intake value, 50 ate high carb and low fat and the last 100 were the control eating a "healthy" diet as given by a nutritionist.
The ones that ate no carbs per day with high fats intake had lost the most, and had the best comparative bloodwork (high HDL and low LDL cholesterol) by the end of the study.
All I'm concluding from this is that these donuts are very high in carbohydrates, and are contributing to obesity - which these days is considered "bad for you."
Look into the "keto" diet; where you have a low carbohydrate diet with high fats and protein intake. Your body adjusts from using carbs for it's energy source to using fats as it's energy source. Very interesting stuff.

Anyone who has studied the subject would say that it is clearly not carbs alone that is the primary cause of obesity (apart from most of those people either have a condition or are plain LAZY). I suggest people read up on the benefits of omitting wheat and sugar from your diet.
Myself and my partner have been following the book/diet by Timothy Ferris called "the 4 hour body", plus books such as "wheat belly" & "sweet poison". In the first three months I increased my protein and carb intake three fold, and lost 4% body fat. All basically because we cut out processed foods, sugar and gluten (wheat). This diet still included our once a week 'blowout', which we were allowed to consume anything we had been craving during the week. After a while though you stop craving what people would call your 'everyday' food i.e. bread, oily/greasy food and foods high in sugar, as it makes you feel awful!
Anyway, I guess there are many studies out there which defines what is actually "bad for you". I myself am a firm believer that sugar is more of a contributing factor to obesity than carbs/fat, and changing how your body processes these things is not entirely beneficial.
/end rant

Well, obviously it's junk food, so it should be eaten in moderation… but like you said, you already know that. And really, I think everybody here knows that, so I don't really know why every time there's a junk food deal posted, we still get comments like "These will give you a heart attack".
