New waffle maker from myer, arrived with crumbs and covered in grease.

Hey guys, title pretty much explains everything. Bought a waffle maker for my daughter. Didn't use it today as it was hot. I open it properly to get it ready for the morning and it has plenty of grease and crumbs on it.

Any retail gurus out there know how I received a 2nd hand unit from myer?

Merry Christmas everyone.

They must not have checked a returned product (eg change of mind), and sold it, in this case to you.

Call Myer and let us know what they say.

    • Thank you. I will get back to you after I have spoken to them.

    • Thanks for that. Email went nowhere yet the phone call went well. Once the myer rep received my photos of the crusty/oily surface she sent me the email with the return address labels. I will post it back when I am next in town and then get a refund.
It was the young daughters present so less than ideal but we all made pancakes this morning instead and this made her happy.

Never mind that… was there a Hot Waffle in it with Strawberries and Maple on the side with some double Cream?

It is 3 AM and I could go a snack…

You definitely received somebody's returned product, demand a no cost product return and a guaranteed 'new' product in exchange! It's fairly disgusting that they would send you a filthy machine, who knows what bugs are crawling over it!

    I ❤️ Ozbargain

  • Thanks for reminding me, Amazon sent me a mosquito zapper with dead mosquitos crusted into it and they are arguing with me re: resolution.

    • Does it work?

Some people are just so dishonest. Years ago, I worked for a short time in a John Lewis store in the UK. One day, someone returned a Smeg toaster which she said was an unopened change of mind. Me, being new to retail and so young and naive, refunded it without checking the contents. Only after she was long gone did I open the box. Inside was a dirty, used toaster. To avoid getting into trouble for not doing my job properly, I didn’t say a word and quietly bought the old toaster. That was a very expensive lesson for me!

    • Yikes. Good on you for doing the right thing!
