TCL 65" C727 4K QLED Full Array Android TV $1195 + Delivery (Free C&C) @ The Good Guys

240

Seems to be a decent deal? FALD and QLED for under $1200. The specific detailed specs of the comparable Australian Hisense models seem hard to come buy, so its hard to know where this TV sits in the range. Maybe it competes directly against the U7G, at least pricewise at the moment, which is also going for $1195 or less.

Quantum Dot, Full Array, Dolby Vision/Atmos, Wide Colour Gamut. Price ends Jan 3rd.

  • should be good I hope because I ordered this TV Yesterday, TCL is quite popular, the 75" and 65" no stock on site, so I have to wait….

    • Ah, nice one! Any reason you went for this over the Hisense? Did you get a chance to compare the two?

      • I hate the Hisense software. Give me Android TV over it any day.

        • agree!

        • Doesn't bother me, I just use a fire stick

        • Probably worth getting a NVIDIA sheild as supposedly the os is slow in these?

  • similar price to U7G but do not have HDMI 2.1, I want to get xbox x later..

    • This has HDMI 2.1.

      • +1

Which is strange because the refresh rate is capped at 50Hz with 100hz interpolation/fake refresh rate. Not sure what the point of HDMI 2.1 in this TV is. To trick people into thinking it can do 4k120?

    • +1

      Aust U7G series doesn't have HDMI 2.1.
      https://hisense.com.au/product/65-uled-4k-tv-series-u7g/
*Does not feature HDMI 2.1 input and 4K@120Hz through HDMI. All HDMI inputs are 4K@60Hz.

This TCL set only has 100Hz motion rate, so even if it supports HDMI 2.1 4k @ 120Hz it won't display at 120Hz.

    • This isnt a 120hz panel so while it has hdmi 2.1 it can't do 4k@120. the TCL C825 can though

      • The C825 can do 4k120 but like the X900H it's processor isn't good enough and it can't maintain image quality. If you want 4k120 you end up having to go OLED or X90J/X95J etc

  • +1

Does anyone own this tv and can provide some feedback on the interface/4k video lag? Cheers

  • Is this micro led?

    • Not this model

  • This is or u9g Mini led from Hisense. They're $1595 at the moment

    • The u9g is competing with the TCL c825 which is a step up in price from this.

      • Thanks Pingpong

        • Didn't even realise who I was replying to. Hello pingpong brother from another mother!

    • At $2,195, can someone share their opinion if Sony x90j is $600 better than u9g. I don't need a TV now but just worry won't see x90j price ever come down.

  • u9g is better. c825 is better again.

    • Both of which a better than the Samsung Q60A

    • vs Sony U90j? All similar pricing atm. Tossing up between one of these at 75", or 65" LG C1 OLED.

      • +1

If the c1 is in your budget, it's the best you can buy right now

        • +1

          yeah C1 is king. though from my research u9g > C825 > U90j > C1.

    • Have you seen the ug9 in person? So little info about it. Or this 65" c727 also. Can't decide if the extra $500 is worth it. Once you get up to $1600, the Samsung Serif comes into play too, because the wife loves the design, although the picture quality wont be as good as either the Hisense or the TCL. The ug9 with mini led does seem to be the biggest bargain I think.

  • Any advice for a noob? Just looking for a TV to watch basketball and movies daily. Looking for a 65”+ and my last TV is terrible at sports :( I would like something quality so thinking $1000-1500 max

    • I don't think you will be disappointed with this TV. 3 year warranty is comforting. I went and looked at heaps of TV's yesterday, and its surprising just how good almost every tv looked, I guess picture quality has come a long way in two years.

      • That’s true! I’m currently using probably a 4-5 year old Sony Bravia 40” so everything will probably look amazing. I’ve just seen a few tvs that look really bad or can’t handle motion aka sports so it has put me off a bit.

  • I was looking at this exact model, it's the best value 65" TV with Local array dimming. Was going to purchase it however I went for a 55" OLED Phillips 804 for $500 more, thought it would be a better investment in the long run.

  • I bought one of these a few weeks ago during the Black Friday sales and have been pretty happy with it so far. Replaced my Sony KD-55X7000D and was impressed by the speed of the Android TV interface in comparison.

The only issue I have is with my Sony soundbar not working occasionally and having to switch it off and back on again to get it working again.

    • +1

Can you check that it has full array local dimming? If you see blooming/contrast zones around the white image on https://youtu.be/AYtvehF9-Z8 when in HDR it would mean it has it. Also do you know if it can do 4k120hz?

It's very confusing because apparently this is the same model as the C728 in Europe, which in Europe is marketed as 4k120hz without FALD, but here is Aus it's marked as FALD without 4k120hz

  • Got 75 inch one for ~$1650 ($1550 with tcl $100 cash back) delivered around 5-6 weeks ago. Pictures quality is great, sound is okay, Android TV is fine except it may need to reboot as it becomes laggy occasionally.
It is not perfect if I watch it in pitch black environments, as sometimes there is little blooming (not very often and I won’t notice it if there is little lights. 99% of the time the black is black, and it is bright enough even the tv is next to window during a sunny day.
Just my opinion, but my last tv is 50 inch Panasonic plasma, so I am not expert.

    • Can you see my comment on the post above? Could you check if it has FALD and 4k120hz. It's pretty confusing from the marketing material and there's no real reviews on the C727.

It's be amazing value if it does have them both, would definitely pick one up for the PS5.

      • +1

i don't think this has 4k120hz, but TV sticker show it has Full Array (not sure same as FALD). I have seen blooming on this tv but very seldom even in pitch black room, in normal light (day or night) i haven't noticed any blooming. Just that the viewing angle isn't that great. Here is the spec which i think is for this tv. https://www.tcl.com/au/en/products/c727/65C727.html

      • The c727 is only 60hz. PS4 looks great on it though. I have the c825 that’s 4K 120hz for my Xbox series x which is very good value too. If your room is bright it’s worth it - looks like an oled in a bright room but without being dim!

    • Where did you buy at that price from?

      • +1

i think TCL c727 series only exclusive to thegoodguys. 75c727 were around $1795 4-8 weeks ago, got further 11% off for few days and $100 cashback from TCL, which bring it down to around $1550 delivered after cashback. Paid with $1300 (10% off Home giftcards few months ago) and the rest credit card.

  • How is TCL after sales service? Are they good and easy to deal with? And how do they handle warranty claim, direct to them or its has to go through reseller?

    • -1

China owned company, China made, Chinese customer service and support, Chinese quality and reliability - Caveat Emptor!

  • I have both the c825 and c727.

Both excellent value, you won’t have any regrets, especially if your room is bright.

I got the 75” c727 from good guys for $1400 plus $100 cash back with some over the phone haggling. Amazing value, Sony like picture quality.

    • Hey man. Looking to buy this TV. Could you tell me how much better is c825 in picture quality as compared to the c727? In things like black levels, colors and blooming? Will be very helpful thanks.

Also thinking about spending extra on Sony x90j, as I plan to keep it for long time.

        Alright here’s my take:
The c825 will give the best outright image. It really shines when you push it to the limit with 4K hdr and Dolby content. Video games are amazing on it in 4K 120hz. Even Rocket league looks great!

It’s when you fed it high quality content that it’s differences to the c727 show.

But for everyday viewing say from tv or upscale content you won’t see that much of a difference and my wife actually prefers the c727.

This happened also when I had my LG oled years ago and wife and kids preferred a Samsung led that we had in the bright family room for everyday stuff.

So if you are very keen on image quality and have the means to feed it the right stuff and will appreciate it, the c825 is the way.

Then there’s the price - I paid $2000 for the c825 in 65”, but got the c727 at the same time in 75” for $1300.

If I had to chose only one upgrade, size was the most important thing so I would have picked the c727 as I couldn’t afford the 75” c825.

Peak brightness and colour density are the most notable advantages on the c825 but only when the content provides it.

Also to consider it the sound. The c825 onkyo sound in no gimmick and you really won’t need a sound bar. Truly something special.

I did get the Ray Danz TCL sound bar for the c727 and highly recommend it!!

If you don’t have family to please, have the budget and enjoy highest quality nuances in a dark room then the LG oled is king.

But if you want the same perceived quality with ink - on glass effect from an led, and you viewing angles aren’t extreme, the TCL is actually my preferred choice.

I can’t comment on the Sony, though you can’t really go wrong with Sony either.

Blooming isn’t really an issue on either tv. The micro led doesn’t really make difference in reality as when I ran a YouTube test both TVs showed the same square divisions around each dot of white on black background, but only in a pitch black room.

Black levels slightly superior on the c825, very good indeed - but not as much as the price differences would have you believe - but mainly because the c727 is surprisingly good- not because the c825 is bad.

        • Wow, didn't expect such a detailed comparison. Thanks a lot. So what I can gather is a c727 is close. So I think I'll go for it. As the price difference for a 55 inch is 995 vs 1495. As for the sound I have a home theater system. So it seems like the difference also covers the dedicated sound system in c825 which I don't need. C727 will do for a few years until OLED improves even further for burn in handling and gets more affordable. Cheers

          • @Hass4592: Great choice it’s a lot of tv for the $

            • @M4RK: Hi M4rk, thanks for your insight on both the C727 and the C825. I'm currently researching a 75" for the folks living room. What are your thoughts on sound quality of the sound bar built into the C825 vs the Ray Danz? I'm thinking if I am spending 1700ish on the C727 plus the soundbar then the outright cost of both might push me towards recommending the C825, especially if they bide time and wait on a decent deal.

              • +1

@Bullion78: The sound is great on the c825, but better on the ray danz sound bar.

Both have very clear dialogue and good bass - the ray danz excels at playing music more so than the c825 and obviously has more powerful bass, although I have never needed to crank either system.

Both have pretty great virtual surround too, again the ray danz being the best.

As an overall package the c727 plus ray danz for a living room is hard to beat. Nice and neat compare to a full system.

That ray danz bar has better than the Samsung sound bar I was looking at that cost $1500, no joke.

The c825 is a great all in one solution and onkyo really did make something special there too. I suppose you have to choose whether slightly better picture quality when fed the correct content beats an all round great tv plus immersive sound.

The sound bar wasn’t working with the c727 until I switched off everything and turned it all back on, just so you know!

@M4RK: Thankyou very much for that write up mate. It really helps.
