  • Is this better bang for buck than one of those legion 5 laptops? Does anyone have experience with the screen quality?

looks like even laptop prices are starting to come down too, this is really good sign for all gamers!

I brought the 17" version of this with the same exact specs. I also have the Legion 5 with the same specs.

    The Asus:

    Pros:
Keyboard is great to type with
    Battery life
    Build quality

    Cons:
    Screen is 65% sRGB
250nits (I don't think it's too bad but others think differently)
Thermals - Legion 5 runs cooler
No MUX switch or Advance Optimus

Between the two, I would get Lenovo Legion 5 or the Kraken laptops:

The Asus is used by my son to play Minecraft and Ark with. It runs fine and all, my only complaint is the screen. If only colours were more vibrant (95+ sRGB). The Legion runs around 7-10c cooler on the CPU side, but is at lower clocks 3.2ghz vs 3.9ghz.

    • @MrQ88. I need a good laptop for running reports, number crunching and Netflix. I hardly game. Do you recommend the Lenevo Legion 5 Pro or one below please ?? I need Webcam for meetings & presentations. Appreciate any advice close to $1600.

If it's mainly reports/meetings, don't get a gaming laptop, the webcam in them are s$&t.

My wife has an Asus Zenbook UM425. 4500U 8GB DDR4, 512GB. Battery lasts all day and half of the next day. 300nit screen 99% sRGB, amazing sound - speakers are the best and clearest I've heard and webcam is clear.

I also purchased a Dell 2-1 for my nephew:

He using it for VCE year 12 next year. Been happy with it's performance and screen. Battery life get him through school day with 20-30% left.

        • Many thanks. Any recommendations on Lenevo or Dell Inspiron/Latitude with 16GB and 15 inch FHD or better please?

Would much prefer an Acer Nitro (i5 11400H / RTX 3060 / 8GB / 512GB) for $1196 on sale at HN for just gaming use, would deliver similar if not slightly better gaming performance than this asus for hundreds of dollars less once upgraded to 16GB ram.

The Acer for $770 if budget is tight.

    • Many thanks. Budget is $1K to $1500. Just need solid build and performance and min 15 inch decent monitor :-))

      • I bought this laptop for $735 delivered from that deal. It arrived yesterday!

When I opened the package I found a $100 wine gift card, also there's a promo running till February to claim 2 games.

Btw the laptop is great! I think my best bargain of the year.

        • Thanks :-)) enjoy the wine!
