FYI it wants a selfie of you and your license, those who be paranoid steer clear.

    • +12

A bit over the top asking for one to * Email a selfie of you holding your Driver Licence and proof of residential address to [email protected]
If offer still exists in March I might consider it but for now there is very little on Kayo worth watching (for me at least).

      • +1

The Offer is valid for the first 4000 New KINTO Members who are new or returning to Kayo, or until 11:59pm, Monday 28 February 2022, whichever occurs earlier or unless extended by the Promoters and/or Kayo.

do i have to have clothes on when i take the selfie ?

      • +5

No. Only requirement is the drivers license.

        • +9

More than enough to hide my shame.

          D-merit points?

do i have to have clothes on when i take the selfie?

Yeah, I highly recommend that you do that or they will inadvertently sign you up for OnlyFan.

KINTO’s origins lie in the word Kinto-un (Japanese for ‘flying nimbus’) – a service that quickly appears and, no matter where you are or what time it is, takes you wherever you wish to go.

      • +4

does monkey magic finger thing to summon his flying cloud

      • So I can be standing in the outback with no reception and this girl named Kinto will appear?

  • Where would one find the special offer code? I signed up, I am up to the personal details, asking me for the code, but I received no emails etc.

    • +1 Same question

      • +2

A unique Kayo redemption code will be issued by KINTO to newly approved KINTO members who respond to the question ‘Special Offer’ with ‘Toyota’ during the member application process.
        it is in offer detail.

        • Oh I left that blank as another comment said it was emailed to you afterwards. Oh well. thanks for the info.

        • Thank you Boss..

          • +1

@HHH-888: Just had an email anyway with a unique code for Kayo. Took 6 hours since I started the process.

As promised, your KINTO membership comes with a 3 month Kayo Basic subscription* on us. If you’re new or returning to Kayo, simply enter your unique code in the Kayo 'Get A Voucher’ field.

            • @ceriaz: Did you have to manually email them your proof of address and selfie, or was the first part of the registration on the app enough?

  • Green P licence ok or need Full car licence?

    • +6

I think the important thing is you put all the best bits needed to steal your identity into a photo and send to them

  • +1

    What a great deal!
All of your personal details to an anonymous server in return for 3 months access to what you can get for free from other places without any ID detail, apart from a burner email.
Notice the age group this is aimed at, given the person in the promo photo.

    • +1

Where else can you get free trial of kayo?

  • +7

The marketing team must be using some sort of creative or digital agency with NFI about data security. I urge people to not photograph their license and send it to some random inbox. It is mind blowing that this happens from an organisation like Toyota. The marketing team must have some shoestring budget to just 'get it done'.

    • +2

NFI sounds like a data security terminology.
“We have NFI, so your data is trusted with us”

  • +2

a photo of my ID and address to some random company in return for something that's often free for a month or cheap for 2/3 months??

even at rrp your identity and the hassle is worth a lot more than $45.

    • +1

"Some random company" = Toyota now?

Given that it's a company that rents out motor vehicles for use, it's not exactly unreasonable for them to verify that you are licensed to drive the cars. Drive My Car does the same thing: https://www.drivemycar.com.au/Trust

      • They are affiliated with Toyota, my bad. Seemed seperate at first. The site is run by their finance arm and the app is made by "Good Travel Software", at least on Android.

Sure, but if they wanted that information they can get it via their database during sign up, where the information is meant to be stored securely.

Requesting that information again so I can claim a code means leaving my personal information on some random email server. I am unsure if my data will be stored in a safe, confidential manner.

    • +2

You don't rent alot of cars do you.

    • Tell that to the people that upvote 20c of pts in the 100's hehe :)

    • Agreed. Very off-putting

    • Giving my identity to Toyota is worth not giving any money to Murdoch!

FYI To redeem this offer you need enter "Toyota" into the special offer field of your application. Once you have completed your application and emailed the required supporting docs, your application will be processed. KINTO requires all this information in order to verify your identify

Once you become an approved KINTO member, you'll be sent your Kayo code. Plus you'll also be able to rent a car! :)

    • I didnt get my code even though i put toyota and got approved

    • I have received email from KINTO that my membership has been approved, but there is no KAYO code anywhere. Please advise?!

  • +1

Emailing sensitive personal info is not secure. A third party can view your emails.

    • The marketing team are saving their dollary-doos. Building a secure portal was probably too expensive.

    • Emailing sensitive personal info is not secure. A third party can view your emails.

This would be my only gripe. Email is not necessarily a secure method for communication…at least for your average person it is going to be impossible to determine if both sides are using TLS or even opportunistic TLS.

  • +1

Data mining at best. Wheeere is the bargain ?

  • +2

What a mickey mouse app from a major company. No mention of need to type in "Toyota" to get kayo anywhere, can't cancel in the app since it won't send the email when you select cancel. No clear mention of subscription costs if any. Unprofessional Garbage.

  • +2

…..and yet has 26 positive votes and only 3 negs. People are easily pleased.

    • You can + without comment but you can't - without it… I assume. I went through the process the other day when I got the email and it was excesssive - and I did not complete it, since then I have been sent multiple emails asking to complete it.

  • +2

OP might want to post some info on what Kinto is into the deal.

    https://co-optoyota.dealer.toyota.com.au/car-rental/kinto
    https://www.toyota.com.au/kinto

It is definitely a legit service, Toyota/Kinto have just screwed up by requiring you to email your confidential information vs. having a site you can securely submit this information via….it is otherwise not abnormal for a car loan/rental scheme to require verification that you are a licensed driver when setting up. Idea is fine, execution is crap to say the least.

  • +1

Does anyone know how long we have to redeem the code?

Hoping to hold of till March

  • +1

    can the selfie be nude?

    • +1

      Yes my revolut one was.

  • +1

Unsecure way of getting ID checked, it's 2022…

  • It took them 17 days before I got the code, and it doesn't even work. Toyota/Kinto said

Kayo Offer limited to … the first 4000 Toyota customers to redeem

so presumably they just give out unlimited codes, and Kayo starts rejecting them after a while.

    • It looks like it was some problem with the Kayo website. After contacting Kayo and speaking to them for half an hour it got sorted out. I also spoke to Toyota/Kinto previously, and apparently they have not run out of the 4000 offers.

I had marked this offer as sold out earlier, but Ozbargain won't let me report it again now. I'll report this comment so an admin sees it, and can hopefully reactivate this offer.
