Personally, I think this is far superior than Hp deal but ofcourse ($272 more )

Mod: Currently there's a ThinkPad EDGE promo code that brings the price down to $799 after "EDGE1311104" is applied (expires Thursday 19 April). //—scotty//

  • pretty good deal, would like to get it if budget allowed ;)

    • hhmm, kind of same here but I think I will take the plunge as I hardly see lenovo thinkpad deals as good

  • Is this a really good deal? How often would this come up and how long do you think this price would last for?

Claim of $2,388 for a laptop with a 1366x768 screen seems somewhat exaggerated, Lenovo or not. This is not a T-series but an Edge. $900 is an ok price but not a bargain. I paid $670 for an Edge (the same laptop but) with an i5, other specs very close, about 10 months ago… using the semi-regular Lenovo 10% off coupon here on Ozbargain.

The price is OKish but definitely not a bargain in the OzBargain sense.

However, I nearly choked on my bowl of cornflakes & whisky when I saw Lenovo's fanciful RRP: $2388!

But why did they stop at $2388? Why didn't they go for gold with $3388 or $4388 or $5388?

Looks like the marketing dept needs a bit more backbone, or drugs…

  • Why are people so down on Lenovo? Is the quality worse than there competition.
Prices are good now, good deals will dry up soon as stocks run out waiting for new ivy bridge processors. Then I expect prices will jump by a few hundred or more for a few months.

    • I've bought a T & E series thinkpads in the last 8 months. Both had motherboards replaced within the first month. The service was excellent and hassle free, but I'd prefer a laptop which doesn't break in the first place.

I agree with other comments that the RRP stated is crazy. Sale price is OK..but pretty close to what I'd expect the RRP to be so no bargain.

pesonally i wouldn't recommend LENOVO again. i bought the edge seris about 6 months ago when they have leaked their staff discount 10% off on top of the sales price.

ever since then it broke down twice, both times the same fault. the laptop would not turn on, when i connect it to main the litle green light on the side won't come on and had to have the motherboard changed, TWICE.

Same here… Around 3 months after buying it the unit wouldn't power up (no leds, fans, nothing). When you plugged in the power pack the charge light also would not turn on. Sent off to Lenovo who claim the motherboard was replaced, turnaround time was about 10 days. We looked into extending the warranty, but at ~$120 a year (minimum) it's better to save up for a replacement.

I've since spoken to a few others who have had their "motherboard replaced" at least once within 6 months of buying it, in fact a couple of these people have had to send them in twice now. If you do a bit of Googling around (or check on Whirlpool), you'll see this is a fairly common problem with the e520 (and possibly others).

Tried to take out the battery and put it back again? Two of my friends having T420s and X220 have this issue and fixed by just take out the battery and put the battery back so "something" gets reset.

      • You don't seriously think Lenovo would ship the unit back under warranty without trying a battery swapout?

  • Whats the video card?
AMD Mobility Radeon 2GB doesn't exactly tell you very much.

  • You gotta love it, when the company seeling the good's don't allow anything more than a 12 months warranty as an option.

AS IF this is $2388 RRP
No way any one will pay 2.4k for a Edge

This even has a more expensive RRP than a T

  • +3

There's actually a ThinkPad EDGE coupon code that's active at the moment — EDGE1311104, which gives you:

    • Save $50 when your purchase of any ThinkPad Edge E520, E420 or E320 laptop is $549 or more
    • Save $100 when your purchase any ThinkPad Edge E520, E420 and E320 laptop is $749 or more
    • Save $200 when your purchase any ThinkPad Edge E520, E420 and E320 laptop is $999 or more

It would then bring down this offer from $899 to $799 delivered.

    • Great comment Scotty!
