Reading the reviews for that thing is a hoot!

Had my Braun for now close to 20 years and it has not failed once. I’d actually buy a new one but that thing just doesn’t quit 😀

    • Yeah our old Braun is going strong. Broke the little chopper cup thing but the stick and whisk are good after over ten years use. Bought a Phillips one a few years ago but we barely use it, it’s bigger, noisier and doesn’t do anything the Braun can’t.

But the new Braun’s have this annoying safety switch you have to hold down before pressing the trigger. That’s turned me off them.

      • +1 the chopper attachment is flimsy and we broke it too even though we were so careful using it.

But the Braun blender itself is going strong compared other brands. 5+ years and still counting.

My wife saw this and bought one.
She said two hands are better than one.

Hahaha. The comments/reviews are so good. Filter to one star reviews to make it spicier. “Gutless and short lived” was my fave.

Reviews seem terrible and not worth the hassle IMO

Is it really only 180w? Seems useless!

    • +3

hitachi magic wand is only 24w ….sometimes it’s more about design than wattage in how well something works

      • the magic wand isn't a chopper now is it

    • The Bamix ones are the same. I don’t have one but I think it is slightly underpowered from what I’ve heard. But at least it’ll probably be quiet.

  • to TBH, i've founded the only brand that work really well for me was the philips hand blender. They also had 2 years warranty too. Kenwood being the absolute worst brand in terms of reliablity.

  • Thanks, used my sofa voucher 😁

  • Item : 1.5M POWER CORD

I would have expected something from https://www.davidjones.com/search?q=kitchenaid+cordless with a Username like EarlyAdopter

    • Yeah I’ve been wondering what the manufacturers are doing the past few years, battery stick mixers would be a real innovation. Might be heavy but doable. That’s the only gripe with stick mixers, mucking around with the cord while using it.

      • They exist.
I've had my https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/608221 since early Feb 2021 and am pretty happy with it

I just wish I got the matching (cordless) stick blender at that time for AUD$147 too, as they have been OOS on Amazon.com for ages

      • That would be a big stick with short working time and short lifespan.

These devices are mainly used in a single room, ie. kitchen, as opposed to eg. rechargeable vaccuum sticks, which BTW are pretty bad compared to regular VCs, but practical to carry and use around the house often.

I think a cordless power tool would be a better comparison. If they can make an impact driver/circular saw/dremel etc. with a lithium battery that has enough power to work through hardwood timber (and even steel) then a cordless hand blender chopping onions should be a piece of cake.

Why BPA cup?!? Should be glass for this price!

Do not buy. Been through 2 of these in 2 years. Lucky Myer was great with the first exchange and finally the refund. The jug cracks and the gearbox in the chopper breaks with minimal use.

    • My kitchenaids (x2) under warranty have also been short lived. Luckily good guys are good guys and replaced. I thought I was just abusing it. Both times I’ve burnt the motor out. Since I cook very little I have resorted mainly doing stuff by hand.

  • Don't waste your money. The metal shaft that connects the handpiece and the attachments WILL fail 100% of the time (the plastic connection inside get threaded). We have a unit which has seen very little use and it has already failed. I contacted Kitchenaid for a replacement part and it is no longer made so you are screwed. You then end up with a $139 paperweight.
