Bissell SpotClean Spot & Stain Formula 473ml $13.99 (Was $17.99) + $5 Delivery (Free C&C) @ Supercheap Auto

140

Cleaning formula suitable for Bissell SpotClean and Little Green carpet cleaners.

Went to clean a stain on my couch (damn kids) and realised I had run out of cleaning formula for my Little Green cleaner.

Aside from being out of stock in many places, it's also damn expensive.

Supercheap Auto have come through with the goods though and the price is actually pretty good, even with delivery factored in (and let's face it, who wants to go out to the shops at the moment anyway?)

This is NOT suitable for the full sized carpet cleaners though.

Combine with a new SpotClean machine for $189.99 (was $269.99) for maximum OzBragin rights!!!

Full catalogue here. Sale ends 23 January.

If you have access to GG Commercial the price is $12 for SpotClean Spot & Stain Formula - 473mL.

Don't fall for the marketing ploy of getting you to buy the spot cleaning specific solution. I have the spot cleaner and a full sized carpet cleaner and both can use any carpet cleaner. I find the Vax solution to be the best and also much better value than this.

I think I got mine for $12 from TGGC.

    • can you use for the Bissell's product?

      • +2

Absolutely. It's a bit like when washing machine brands recommend a particular brand of washing powder even though it makes no difference.

    • Cheers. I'll look into that.

    • What ratio does this need to be mixed with water?

    • Thanks for this suggestion. I can see it is a much bigger bottle too (3x the size at 1.5L)

    • What makes vax solution the best?

  • almost out of stock for C & C. Just for delivery only

  • what's the difference between OP's and this?

    • Bissell do quite a few different versions of the spot cleaner.
They will have slightly different heads/attachments depending on what you want to use it for

    • Same thing different name, with slightly different attachments. This is the best one IMO as it has a much longer hose.

The AutoMate model sold at Supercheap Auto has been updated to now also include a longer hose. On the box it has to be the 'Spotclean AutoMate' model instead of the 'Spotclean Auto'.

        • Oh really? That's awesome!

    • The pro line (orange) has a longer warranty period, which suggests better quality motors.

  • has anyone tried using plain vinegar instead of this stuff?

    • +2

We use vinegar for most hard surface cleaning around the house, but I really don't think I want my carpets smelling like that though.

    • Oh man the smell!!!

      • It disappears very quickly in carpet as it is used up with all the bacteria present.

Check out the test results on Choice.

The best cleaner by far was the homemade version…off memory based on a tiny amount of wash up liquid vinegar, warm water and maybe isopropyl alcohol/ ethanol/ vodka. I totally agree. I bought the Rug Doctor version, and it was about 70% as good as a home made 10c mix.

This is one test where there is no financial gain with the home recipe coming out on top.

All depends on what your carpet issue is, and make your mix accordingly. If its a pet odour issue, you will need something with enzymes in it (ie clothing washing powder). If its smelly mould…use more vinegar, or maybe eucalyptus. If it's grease stains, more detergent etc etc. Just google 'how to remove x stain' and make your mix accordingly.

Key bit is to do a rinse scrub with just water after. If any detergents remain, it will be sticky and dirty in 5 seconds. Also, do it on a cooler day with all windows and doors open for at least a day.

  • I just dilute clothes washing detergent into my bissell spot cleaner, seems to work just fine?!

  • I used the professional version of this along with oxy, after that, stepping on the carpet and back on the tiles used to feel sticky. I had to do another round with plain water just to remove that soapy stickiness. Anyone know if this is common?

    • Probably took too much oxy. That stuff is addictive mate… ;)

  • I didn't really rate this one but find the Pet Stain & Odour one really good.
Amazon has it on special every now and then but it's $15 thru TGGC for a 750ml bottle

I tried using the Bissell to clean two dirty arm chairs and it was almost useless and used up a lot of their cleaning liquid just to get decent results. Didn't want to spend the ridiculous money on another bottle so I ended up just using diluted Fairy dish washing liquid and a brush attachment on a cordless drill. (Look up Dawn on google, as there are many people using this mix for cleaning).

    • That sounds like a good idea.

I spilled Mountain Dew all over my reclining chair so I want to use hot boiling water with a tiny bit of dish soap and floor cleanee and a scrubbing brush and see how that goes I just want to get the stickiness out pretty much that's it.

      • That should definitely work, although I don't think you need the floor cleaner or boiling water. Just put the mix into a spray bottle and scrub with the brush and pat dry as you go with a clean cloth.

Looks like a towel did the trick.

Armchair recliner is dry now and no sticky parts so i think i dodged having to buy anything.
