we use these to cool down the kids food!

      • +39

Uses the blades to thinly dice the food for more surface area + chunky cooling performance

        • -5

          thanks….

      • Just blow on the fork/spoon of food

        • that's impossible, you have to buy this fan.

    • +5

Yep, and they genuinely ask "What did you use to cool down your food when you were a kid?" "We waited" weird, I know…

    • +8

Same. Sounds like you're a fan.

      • +1

Actually, I think you're both fans

  • +2

Similar size blades to the ryobi fan that people got excited about, they could have bought 9 of these and had some change for a sausage and drink…

    • -3

I don't think that one was 8-10 cm

      • It was a joke, but the blades on the ryobi clamp fan are only around 10-11cm.

        • +4

          It was a joke

          I just got wooooooshed…

    • +1

Yeah but you need to wait for the batteries to charge prior to using. I'm sure most people buying the Ryobi have spare batteries lying around.

      • I don’t think Eneloops are supported

  • Perfect for camping, travel or outdoor activities

How long do they run on a full charge?

How long do they run on a full charge?

Hopefully no more than a few minutes, I can't chase after them much longer than that.

      Lol

    • +7

Just think that you bought it for the battery and charger, and comes with a free fan.

      • More than 300 plus vote, people are still discussing where to find stock as many places were out of stock.

        • there is about 6 or so at the rockdale bunnings… isle 41 bay 6

    • +2

There was a lot of upvote, I guess people who bought it is for battery?

    • I was about to buy it, I had Bunnings put one aside for me, but the 2ah battery made me back off.

A good deal on a small portable fan.

I personally am a fan of the Kmart 10cm fan which has the four LED lights, charging stand, etc… and you can charge it either by plugging into the fan itself on the handle, or into the stand (so it becomes a standing fan). It's currently $12 so I'd probably go Bunnings $5 option, but if I recall correctly, I paid $5 for it at Kmart during clearance a year or two ago.

    • +2

Buying fans after summer is cheaper.

$3 @kmart in June - good 5 speed fan with handy charger base. Holds charge for many months.

Target had $1.50 rechargeable fans then, but 3 speed, less output, no base - so didn't stand up.

      • You have fanny knowledge!

    • How long does a full charge last?

      • Never actually tested. I’d imagine it also depends which speed you use it on but I’ve had it on max for st least a couple of hours before I thought….

    • +1

Yeah I got the Kmart one. Got it whilst travelling a month or two ago and my hotel had no A/C…(I know, like what!? I didn't even check as I didn't know that was a thing when you paid $200 a night)… now I use the stand such as to just sit it on my desk and point straight at me when browsing OzB

    • My experience with the Kmart anko products is not good, I would stay clear as much as I can.

  • +3

I got one of these instead.

    Not a fan.

  • +1

Which one is better click or Arlec?

    • +3

Anything Arlec is rubbish and will fail (from personal exp).

      • Click is no different

        • Is the opolar fan posted on ozbargain better?

          • @htc: Yep but dearer.

            • @spy: Is it better because it has higher battery capacity?

    • +1

Thank-you! I've only just had the joy of experiencing a few crap Arlec products. I thought they used to be more robust :(

  • +1

Price gone back up to normal!

  • I think the prices are different depending on the store..

  • Bought a similar fan from Woolies, it has an interchangable 18650 battery.

    • Hi can I pls have brand model photo link pls?

  • +3

grabbed one of these recently https://www.bigw.com.au/product/goldair-10cm-rechargeable-ha…,
Used it daily for 4~5 hours and now it's dead.

These hand held fans selling at Bunnings, Kmart, BigW et al have very similar design & function. Think they are made in the same factory in china & stuck with different brand label such Goldair, Click, Arlec etc

It is priced cheap and quality is cheap too. But not bad for 5 bucks at Bunnings.
Mine lasted one month before it give up the ghost. Good when it worked.

Now to find another portable fan for surviving the last 2 months of summer….

    • +1

It's 1 year warranty. Go exchange or get a refund.

      • +1

Thought about replacing it but again my replacement would have a high chance of lasting the same duration as the one it replaced .
If only they make it better with some reliable parts…. I would pay more to get a long lasting quality product. And to reduce land fill with plastic and nickel/lithium by products.

        • +1

Everything I bought Arlec brand failed. Great customer service though - they will send you a replacement only for it to fail again in the same way.

Then you stop bothering even if it's within warranty as you might as well pay more for something that lasts.

  • One word for middle age women office workers……..menopause. Perfect for the sweats.

    • Got the handheld click $5 for my mum aged 88 she was "meh" another thing to charge…. for me I got the USB fan $7 had one before, much better.

  • That's a good price, especially if it has a 18650 in it!

  • Got similar from Coles (https://shop.coles.com.au/a/national/product/onix-cordless-h…) when it was $12 maybe 2 years ago. Then got a second one when it was $15. I see that they're now hocking it for $16.50. One of them "broke" in the sense that the power button wouldn't activate the fan. I managed to open it and saw the flawed design of the on/off button sitting at 90degrees to the circuitboard, so pushing too hard makes the button lose contact with the board (especially since the fan's been dropped many times… must've loosened the glue/solder). I hacked it so that the button doesn't lose contact with the board whenever it's pressed and left the button cover off so I can turn it on/off with a paperclip.
Will look for these next time I go into Bunnings - that's a great price.

  • Ok I love reading comments Thank you but please make it simple for me someone there are 3 models for $5 please which one would be the best.

  • thanks @nutcracker007 bought one from Bunnings Marion in SA yesterday & it works a treat :) the 3rd fan speed is like a gale force wind, not joking as a middle aged woman I like cooling down that fast - FYI if anyone is interested in my local area (Marion SA) they only had the 10cm Click fans left on stock & there was only about a half a dozen left yesterday arvo - thanks again :)

  • Purchased the Click branded 10cm fan. Thought it was worth mentioning that unlike in the photos on the Bunnings website which shows four blades and a single vutton, my one was six bladed and had an on-off buttons as well as a separate button for one cycling through the three speed settings.

I think this is an improvement over the single button design as you can turn the fan off directly rather than have to cycle through low-med-high and then off.

One minor thing is that the unit doesn't remember which speed setting was used last, but for $5, I'm definitely not complaining and think that it's still a great buy 👍🏻
