Looks like this deal is back again as part of the Lunar New Year Sale. Pretty good if you don't already have them all in your steam library :) 22 items in total (yes some of them are free anyway) but the classics are there, Half life, Portal…. Get it for your Kids to keep them busy for a while at least. (NOTE: you don't appear to be able to gift this so you will have to log onto an account and buy).

I cannot believe I have over 1500 hours in tf2. So many semester breaks spent in the 24/7 2fort servers

    • And that was pre-pandemic. Imagine the hours you will clock going forward.

    • +11

Ah, 2fort. Brilliant way to waste your evenings (or early mornings), but great fun!

      • +5

        So simple, but so good.

      • +3

Welcome to 24/7 2Fort, the map where the time limit's made up and the intelligence doesn't matter

        • +3

It wasn’t about being engaging. In the end it was just about the hats.

        • Does anyone remember the mod named "the specialists" for Team fortress

          • @kamikaze_ozbargain: I played it a lot, but I believe it was a mod for Half Life.

Had those cool diving and bullet time effects, running around with a katana diving through windows.

    • good times. i personally probably have like 3k hours locked in. The skill ceiling can be very high tbh compared to other games.

      • +3

I’m going to admit probably a good 1000hrs of my playtime was spent as sniper just sitting at base, missing headshots haha

    Upvote because Valve

  • imo, tf2 died when it went ftp and they started bringing out a lot of hats.

It should've stayed with a price and be a part of the OG orangebox.

    • +23

It had a meteoric rise in popularity after going f2p.

      • +2

I believe TF2 reached it's all time player high sometime last year or 2020.

        • +6

          Probably bots

    • +3

Are manco keys still a thing? I had a ridiculous amount of keys back in the day thinking to just HODL but then one day I just quit cold turkey and totally forgot about it after some years.

      • Still used as the main currency for trading in game items (besides real money), like hats, taunts, whatnot.

    • tf2

    • Never quite understood hats. At least if they were skins increased i might actually care as they look good.

Oh and getting all those free boxes you need to pay to get a key to open…

This is a really good game collection for Mac users. There's probably no better supported collection of AAA games for MacOS.

    • Unless you're running Catalina or above..

      • Yeah. Good point.
I just purchased Portal 2, and it's only supported on 32-bit systems. :-(

  • +6

You'd have to be living under a rock to not already have most of these games… good for a gift to kids perhaps.

    • Plus its not like we are having as many new console to PC converts nowdays.

      • +2

        The price isn't exactly right…

        • +1

In 2015 when I got my GTX960-2GB, 8GB DDR3 single channel & 120gb SSD, I was amazed at how much better my experience on PC was on top of how much cheaper games where.

7 years later and the value have shifted so far.

          • +1

@Jimbuscus: Yeah, cross gen in 2015 was a great time for PC gaming. DDR3 was cheap, GPUs were a reasonable price and an i5 was "all you needed" for gaming.

Even the legendary 7970 from a few years back would've performed great. Top tier performance for X60 prices

            • +1

@TeddyBear: I remember thinking A$280 for my GTX960 was a lot of money because it was close to a console sale price.

              • +2

@Jimbuscus: Remember when you couldn't buy a car for the price of a gpu?

  • +4

Oh man good old counter strike , still remember going to internet cafe back in high school days

    • +3

And then a bit of Dota to finish when you'd had enough

    • +4

      De~ dust!

    • You've brought a tear to my ear

    • CS:GO is free on Mac & Win
      It’s fun again

    • Terrorists win.

  • +2

OMG Half Life 3 is on the list!!

    • +1

OMG Half Life 3 is on the list!!

      HL 3??

    • +1

      Half Life 3 confirmed

  • Where's Alyx and Black Mesa?

    • Black Mesa isn’t a Valve game.

      • +2

        Where’s Alyx?

  • Oh day of defeat! Used to love that game. Still think it has the most lethal weapons of any fps. It's a shame dod source killed it despite it feeling very different (much faster movement).

Only really needed portal 2 and it turns out they are all on sale separately as well. Was under $3

    • It will adjust the price if you own some of the title

      • Sure, i owned some but for the most part had no interest in the rest. I was just meaning to point out, if you only want a title or 2, check them out in the sale individually as well.

      • how much is all singley?

  • +4

Ah Left 4 Dead. Lots of fun memories playing that online. Now all we have is climate change.
