OnePass Membership (Formerly Club Catch) $4/Month (Was $6.50/Month) or $40/Year @ Catch

1000

Got this email and thought I'd share.
Available as $4/month or $40/year

Still has all the same perks, free delivery/c&c at Kmart on eligible items (those sold by Catch + some others) $2 flybuys points per $1 spent and exclusive member discounts and offers.

At this price it's worth a sub even if only buying one thing a month.

The obvious tactic here is that if you find something with free shipping via OnePass/Club Catch you can now pay $4 instead of $6.50 or the full delivery fee. Not to have an ongoing subscription for years.

Still too expensive. It's not eBay and Amazon. To ask $40 is too much.

    • +35

Amazon Prime is unrivalled in terms of value, even if you only use the free delivery aspect and nothing else. eBay Plus isn't anything worth spending money on.

Found some good discounts on Catch with boxing day sales, when Shopback does upsized cashback or $2/$5 bonus can be a good store too (can buy groceries unlike Amazon)

      • +23

Yeah eBay is no Amazon but a few times a year you find some bargains that pays for the $45. Also, you get $5-10 codes multiple times that pays for itself. But what I actually mean by my comment is the buyer protection and return policy. Catch is no match for them in that regard.

        • +5

The $5 codes that need a $50 spend? Tried eBay plus and didn't use it, found Plus stores were just absorbing delivery fees into their prices anyway so no point.

To answer your second part, I don't make large purchases over Catch. Use it mainly for groceries (like Mi Goreng noodles) or Kmart/Target products with cashback and discounted gift cards :)

          • +5

@decc0: @decc0: The eBay Plus coupon codes have paid for itself for me!

Bought car parts using the coupon codes that was even cheaper than the sparesbox website!

            • +1

@Kritik: I guess these are really targeting different markets, but happy you could find a way to use them and get a saving from it too!

          • @decc0: not true, no min. spend for them eBay coupons a few times a year. the extra couple % off discounts also

        • +8

Not to mention eBay customer service has gone from bad to worse over the years. I've just cancelled my eBay Plus membership, will be sticking with Prime.

      • +11

Amazon Prime is unrivalled in terms of value

It's worth it for the times you order something at 11pm at night, and get it delivered free the next morning…

        • +4

Ebay plus is worth it when you get a $40 voucher after spending $50 to join, and save $20+ dollars on a case of beer or the like

          • +2

@[Deactivated]: except that you wait a week or two for a delivery…

            • @jv: Literally, when I'm not bothered going down to the stores to purchase whether that be a pack of pens or a bottle of soap I buy from Amazon. Damn you Bezos

          • @[Deactivated]: eBay plus don't provide free movies, web series etc etc.. !

I gave up eBay plus and bought Amazon prime and don't regret it.. !

            • +1

              @SydBoy: Amazon prime is a given….
              Don’t forget prime gaming

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: The freebies they give out through prime gaming are just insane

      • +4

eBay is $10 max a year, they normally give you a GC

        It's actually cheap.

Amazon is good, because you get Prime and it includes a Twitch sub aswell if that's your thing.

        • +7

Ebay Plus is the best subscription period. Those who say it's not simply don't buy anything or are newbie Ozbargainers and lack the imagination to see it for what it is.

For instance I just bought a 2TB PCIE4 SSD for $240 and then I slammed that $40 voucher (This is $400 elsewhere). This is on top of the Social Good tracking at 50%.

Amazon can't even touch that and it feels good knowing money went to locals and not Bezos.

          • @plmko: Which 2TB PCIE 4.0 NVMe SSD is $240, shows none in last 6 months even with the Afterpay 15% discounts ?

      • My best Prime deal was "free" next day delivery on a 50c eraser. I ordered it at 11pm at night, it arrived just after 9:30am the next morning. I've found that once you've paid for Prime, its not worth the petrol or the wear on your shoes for all the little shops that I used to do.

      • Plus prime video and music

    • +2

I was positively surprised by catch's customer service and there were some good bargains at boxing day!

That being said a year is probably unnecessary and I agree with ya $40 is too much when you factor in ebays $40 coupon with membership purchase and amazons scale/cost of prime

    • You can hook the odd bargain. Don't forget 10% off with Student Beans and gift cards are regularly 10% off and you can stack both.

      • Doesn't seems like you get student discount on marketplace item.

        • Correct. 10% student discount only for items sold by Catch, not third-party sellers.

  • its a permanent price reduction (obviously not that popular). Its more informational rather than a bargain

    • +3

Uber Pass deal stayed up. It's cheaper than it was before, hence it's a bargain.

I think this is great personally, if I order from Catch I'll never have to pay over $4 for delivery again. I'm not saying to take out the yearly sub, because I don't think anyone uses Catch enough for that.

      • Not how this works bud. Free delivery on "eligible items", not all of them (and not many at that).

        • +4

Well yeah fair enough but it's the same with Prime. Not every item is eligible on Amazon.

Anything sold by Catch will be included (+ a few other sellers)

  • +6

Um no thanks. Not value for money. I use amazon so much that I barely get on COTD.

    • +6

My Amazon prime 3 month freebie is almost up, but still haven't found anything remotely competitively priced.

Not exactly a large sample, but my recent purchases - EV charger was $110 cheaper on Ali Express, and an infrared thermometer was $12 on ebay, $26 on Amazon.

Found some groceries that only match Coles/ Woolies, but I'd rather buy them in store during my usual shop (especially over summer) and helps to get to the minimum spend requirements for bonus points.

Agree with Catch though. I had a few items in my cart thinking the pricing was good and that the delivery would actually be free. Then delivery adds on anyway and it's way more expensive than others.

      • Coke etc usually goes below supermarket price and they bring to you. You can also send stuff to family states away which is nice. Idk it works for me.

I smell a rebrand of Catch or an acquisition to be announced…

    • +3

Catch is already owned by Wesfarmers so former if anything, but not sure they'd want to kill the Catch brand - rather extend to their other stores maybe (free officeworks delivery etc to compete with Amazon)

      • That's a good idea.. I sort of wondered in the years leading up Amazon's local arrival..
Why didn't they brand and consolidate their various online business.. Ie.. Coles, target, officeworks, bunnings, liquorland/first choice.
Im sure they had plenty of bright people working out the different approaches.

        • -1

That's what they are doing now as part of a $100m investment announced along with FY20-21 results. They will rebrand Catch is what I think !

        • Not sure if they can consolidate, as they all use different internal systems (ERP, WMS, accounting software etc.).

Their websites also all use different e-commerce platforms in the background, with affiliate/supplier connections.

    • +3

Does anywhere still do Catch/Wood’s original model of a very small number of very well priced deals with limited supply?

Mediocre Amazon at ok prices isn’t the worst. Their sales are good sometimes - but the old limited stock actual bargains thing got me some pretty good bargains.

      • Seems like this domain is available for anyone wanting to startup on the original Catch model…

  • +1

I literally got charged $69 for club catch auto renew…TODAY. I wonder if i have a case to try and get a $29 refund as OnePass is only $40 for the year.

    • +1

It's certainly worth a try, it says "You’ll see this price change updated in your next billing cycle" in the email and you haven't

    • I paid for 1 month a few days ago.
Noticed today when I added something to the cart it’s coming up with $2.50 store credit, I can’t explain where that’s from unless they’ve credited the difference?

      • Yeah me too

    • You will have a credit against ur account .. try buying something and it will show .. showed $2,5(6.5-4) to me today for the membership I bought 3-4 days back ..

  • +3

Village Roadshow Theme Parks would like their branding back.

I thought of this first and then 1Password, certainly not a very unique name

      • Yeh I thought it was some sort of password management thing too

  • +6

    Wouldn’t buy even for $4

  • +12

Catch membership is trash. Few things based my experiences: 1. No free return, you need to pay around $10-$12 for return unless it's faulty product. 2. Refund will be credit to you instead of original payment. 3. Previously even you have catch membership, you still need to pay for over $50 or $100 for free shipping. (They seem to change this one already).
Last boxing day was true bargain, apart from that, from my memory, you can always find the same product cheaper somewhere else without paying delivery fee.

    • +4

You nailed it. Unless companies match Amazon in free delivery for most items with no minimum spend and provide good customer service and return, they are not worth getting any subscription charges.

  • +1

Haven't used Catch in years - but I bought a Global Santoku off a deal posted yesterday afternoon and had my order arrive today! Pleasantly surprised.

  • +3

Out of curiosity, what exactly do you guys normally (/commonly) buy from Catch and they are considered to be "good deal"? I "accidentally" bought some of their gift card and I struggle to find anything that's either not over priced or actually cheaper. To me they are like overpriced $2 shops…..

    • +3

To me they are like overpriced $2 shops…..

That's kind of how I feel about it but I have purchased a few things while using the trial and generally stacking with promos:

      • Clothes - Kathmandu, Bonds
      • Fairy dishwashing liquid (more to pad an order, but a good price)
      • Dishwasher tablets
      • Cat food
      • Leatherman
      • Switch game (From Target)
    • +4

Been struggling to use my $100 Catch gift card after 2+ years. Agreed Catch is like an overpriced $2 store!!

    • +2

Catch is crap. I used them a little bit years ago before the Westfarmers acquisition, then nothing for a while, then with the Lattitude discount for a couple of things which happened to make them the cheapest for those items.

I took out a free one month Club catch over Boxing Day for some 70% off deals (one was cancelled), then got a $10 BD voucher and spent it on coffee beans and soap, then promptly cancelled. There is nothing worthwhile on there. I don't try to buy something every month to make the subscription worthwhile; only when I need something and I don't really need anything from Catch or it's nowhere near the cheapest.

Buying Catch GCs is rookie mistake. It's even risky to swap say Prezzee for Catch GCs and buy sth you need because it might be cancelled and you get lumped with unused Catch credits.

    • +1

i bought some watches last year — Citzen titanium automatics and a few G-shocks. a few years before that, bought a couple of ray ban sunnies since they were one of the rare places you could get the alternate/low-bridge fit frames to put rx lenses in. other than that, there was a lot of sifting through crap to find something that was decent or in your size. and omg the spam. as bad as kogan, i reckon

  • +4

It's nice sizeable price drop. Paying for a month before cancelling for a deal or free post can be worth it.

  • +2

Just in time. Needed some Havianas and Dishwashing tablets. Not sure what else it's good for…

  • +2

Are student beans or unidays still doing 10% off

  • +3

    Groceries: Aldi & Costco
Everything else: Amazon and a bit of ASOS

    Life sorted

  • Signed up for Boxing day, they had a few decent things. Cancelled at the end of the month. Then they sent me an email telling me if I rejoined they'd give me a $20 voucher, rejoined for the $20 voucher. I wouldn't stay a member or pay for a year as I don't buy from them often.

  • +6

club catch is catchier than onepass wtf

no deal mainly coz i heard the memership aint worth shit

    • +1

      club catch is catchier

      makes sense too.

    • +1

I suspect their plan is to branch out and do something beyond Catch of the Day down the line.

  • +2

such a scam, not alll items are covered by the free shipping.
Plus some purchases have a minimal spend too.

Catch gave me a free year membership( thru some order issues) and throughtout the entire year, I only made one purchase.

    • such a scam, not alll items are covered by the free shipping

Guess Amazon is a scam too as Prime doesn't cover everything.

Plus some purchases have a minimal spend too.

This is basically minimum qty/order reworded.

I'm not saying this is something you take a year subscription of, but certain times of the year it's very beneficial given its the price of a cup of coffee for an entire month.

      • others have mentioned it probably worth it weight ( yearly option ) but better in the one off purchases to offset postage cost.

  • Oh nice I received a $29 credit for already being a member. I’m happy they gave us the difference in credits.

  • +2

I paid a couple of months for $6.50 and their stock wasn't worth it.

If I order from Catch, I send it to the nearest Target for me to pick up because f that.

If I need anything in bulk, it's Big W or Costco. If I need anything else, it's AliExpress.

  • Even though I got Free Catch Club Membership, I use it as my last option, if I do not find anywhere else. Still happy to pay for Prime over Free OnePass Membership. Everyone has their opinion but paying whole year for OnePass is not worth for most people for sure like Amazon Prime.

And, there is no comparison in terms of Customer Support. Prime is by far ahead in that race. Catch has hideous return policy, And cherry on top, their store credit (with expiry date), no option to credit back to original payment.

Should give a try for monthly, if you find anything worthy, but I'd avoid paying for whole year.

    • Free Catch Club Membership

      How?

      • Partner works for Wesfarmers Group.

        • All Wesfarmers employees get free Club Catch ? Wow, thats like 100,000+ people !!

          • @regenade: I guess!! Every business has some sort of employee discount programs.

  • I'llPass

Just checked my account - last purchase 6 years ago for $0.01, next one a year before that… oh that's where/when I got my Chromecast!

  • +2

I got caught by club catch in the recent sales. Bought a month membership to get free postage on a Stanley Thermos and 2 Stanley travel mugs. Got the thermos and 1 travel mug cancelled, so i paid $9 Catch fees for a single travel mug, and now i have to chase down one from elsewhere as i wanted to matching set as a gift.

Oh and the thermos, the main thing i wanted came back in stock the next day full price, Catch essentially said go pound sand.

So once i get rid of the gift vouchers i'm done with Catch.

    • +1

came back in stock the next day full price

Catch as seller or marketplace seller. Not trying to defend them, but there is a difference.

  • I received a fake product from marketplace. Make a complain to the vendor and catch. Vendor refund it as catch credit without any explanation. There was no response from Catch side. Neither did they remove the product online.

    • Thats how all marketplaces except Amazon work. Amazon are very strict because they can be. Just like how shitty Ola, Didi drivers are , whereas Uber have the best drivers of all. Catch is good when combining with 15-20% cashback or gift cards. Shipped and Sold by catch are good and well supported by Catch support. I dont understand why people buy from marketplace sellers in Catch when you can get the same on ebay or Amazon much faster with Prime/ebay plus Auspost Express

      • From my experience, Uber is not better than Didi. Actually, many drivers drive for both.

  • Do you need to email them to cancel membership? Club catch was quite a hassle to cancel.

    • +1

Club Catch can be cancelled in app/in account settings afaik

  • Formerly Chuck's

  • You have to do your homework with the products
I usually fill my cart up, then go comparison shopping elsewhere as its cheaper, but sometimes the free shipping part makes it worth it.

  • +2

Bunnings is now included with onepass. Free delivery over $80. Connect accounts through bunnings site and the account dashboard.

    • Incredible!

  • why ure disableduser?
