  • Wow that's cheap and I'm sure the quality will be good.
Looks like I'll be back down there Saturday and that high pressure cleaner is looking good value too for $80 bucks.

There were plenty of the elusive 'Espressi' pod coffee machines there last Sat when I was there too - finally picked one up and have been buzzing on a caffeine high all week - beautiful coffee and excellent value compared to 'Nespresso' or Cafe's.

    • Do you work for Aldi?
The paint is the worst thing I've have ever seen.
Especially for $7.99, you get what you pay for.

      • Thanks was pissed off last time they had the paint on sale- went after lunch to buy…"oh all sold out" says they (dodged a bullet by the sounds of it)

      • Have you used it?

      • "Do you work for Aldi?"

Work for them, hell I own the company!

Actually Last Sat was the first time I've been in one since before Christmas when I was frantically trying to get hold of an 'Espressi' machine for a gift

Ok so seriously what's wrong with the paint? It is 1/4 the price of anything else I have looked at for metal so crazy cheap and I am happy to give it a go unless it really is as bad as you say.

Exactly what problem did you have with it?

That's a bit like asking what could be wrong with Aldi's Cola drink, when it's 1/4 the price of Coke or Pepsi. It's not quite the same, that's why.

And remember - with cola you find out straight away whether it's any good or not. With metal paint, you'll only find out a few years later when your item is all rusted underneath.

Perhaps that's valid, though that's not really clear from what he said.
Sure the colour just might not be to his taste or maybe there was some serious defect with it - he didn't elaborate.
If he doesn't bother giving reasons then perhaps he was just an Aldi-hater of which there seem to be a few about for some reason.
Not sure why because there prices seem pretty good, quality ok and their return policy the best I've come across.

My experience with cheap paints is they're usually thinner and therefore need an extra coat which cancels out the saving. In this case even if it took 3 more coats you would still be ahead.
Being slack and skimping on the prep has always been the cause of my less the stellar paint jobs

      • The paint is the worst thing I've have ever seen.

So given that it's not a standard line, are you saying you've picked it up on a previous sale, and have actually used it?

I've tried the Aldi brand paint before. Doesn't taste nearly as good as Dulux or Berger IMO.

    • +2

      Ever tried the sniff test?

  • Good price … I hope they have it in "black"

  • Off topic - anyone have an opinion on the $130 30lt compressor on sale this saturday? Seems like a pretty good price.

  • +1

Getting more of the exact same colour down the track may be a PITA as it would no longer be available anywhere with ALDI's once off specials.

  • Repeated question… Has anyone used this paint?
I know some have commented that it is no good but I feel they have never used it. :-(
    Anyone??
