Maybe add the same card in your own google/apple pay. Technically no need for a "second" card?
(Should work, unless you want to keep stats of what the wife spends?)

      • Hahaha, i should keep some stats on her spending…. just for fun.

Yeah was going to go down the digital card route but was just wondering as i know ANZ you can add an extra card but i think its pretty steep, like $75 or $95.

        Cheers.

        • +1

Me and my partner always add to our phones the same CC. Have never ask for supplement card for a long time even if it's free.

          • +1

@timhn: With AMEX the supplementary cards get a different number and can set up separate login. The benefit is, besides tracking spending per person each will get offers separately and so can often double up. I know for Westpac Mastercard while you have different names on the supplementary spending is not separated and only one set of special offers. Do not know what happens with this card.

            • @Yola: Oh yes, you're right. That's the exception, we had quite a collection of physical Amex cards and all link to my name

  • +1

i was one of those people with 'verification not successful'. called up two days later, was told i need to go into the branch. i didn't. one hour later, i get SMS/email saying everything is approved and the account is now functional.

    strange operation

  • went into a branch to clarify the company name on my payslips on Friday…..called yesterday to follow up….person said someone had forgotten to press "resume processing" on my file..got a text today that it has been approved…..now looking at some overseas flights to use it

  • +3

Worst application experience for my partner ever.
ID verification done online, then via phone, then had to go into a branch.
Provided last 3 payslips online, then after additional request: ATO notice of assessment, latest bank statement.
Got another call to provide ATO income statements (ATO notice of assessment wasn't enough) and additional bank statement of previous month (CBA only gives a statement every quarter), so we provided the transaction summary.

NAB still couldn't say if it's now finally approved (after conditional approval last week).

    • I had that sort of run around with ANZ. They could not cope with the fact that I received a bonus every 3 months and so my pay was not the same every month.

    • +1

Nab couldn't organise a root in a brothel

      • Definitely something wrong in how they organise things.
I had to visit the branch too when I applied for my card a few months ago. But at least it was approved the same day.
At that time I gave them the benefit of the doubt because somebody in NAB made a mistake 3y ago when I first opened the account (which in the end is still a NAB issue).

I like that they give pro rata refund - but comparing to my AMEX application (which was all online) this is a real pain.

    • -1

7 business days, 3 calls, visiting branch, tons of information. Still can't get my partner's "conditional approval" turned into approval …

  • +3

conditional approval went through ok, but asked to call verifications team, apparently i'm allocated a particular banker who never picks up the phone and no one else can help. strange set up their at NAB

  • Apparently they require at least 3 years employment history…

    • +2

I had applied for this when only 6 months in a new job.

  • The complimentary insurance thats provided with the card, are they automatically activated or we need to apply or take any actiom separately. Example Travel Insurance, do I need to do anything from my end or its simply activated by default?

  • probably 10 days from application to having the card delivered. Not easy to get through on the phone, the Qantas number was not linked. Others have mentioned thi appears to be a problem, may pay to check at some stage.

Is there a way to see what points have been earnt, that's a nice thing with Amex displaying the points activity and no need to chase anyone

    • No, you can only see from your statement. This is apply to all Qantas earning cards.

If you have the card, call the number on the back. It's a dedicated number for Signature holders which can quickly get to the banker. I was waited like less than 5mins.

  • Got my Application is processed and approved within 48 hours. Got call from Support team after 24 hours i uploaded pay slips, they asked me for Loan account closure letter. After I provided loan closure email to them via email, Within one hour i got card approval email from NAB.

  • +4

Title doesn’t mention that this is a Visa card
Good news for Visa holders is that Amazon have now backflipped on applying a fee.
Visa now free to use on Amazon

  • +2

Just received my card today. As many of you have advised - I called NAB today to check whether my QFF number was linked (it was included in my application) and it was not. Remember to make the call!

    • did you have to call the loyalty line?

      • +5

I called the generic 13 22 65 customer service line and when it asked me what I was calling about, I said "Add Qantas Frequent Flyer" and it automatically connected me with the Loyalty/Rewards team who then linked the card.

I asked why it wasn't already linked given I included it in my application. Her response was "don't worry, you won't miss out on points as we're linking it now" which didn't address the issue at all. Bit of a bother but still a good deal.

        • Thanks heaps for the reminder. I just rang and checked and mine had not been linked either. I would be surprised if anyone's QFF number were linked at all from the original application

  • +1

Their chat is horrendous. Can't even confirm if qantas FF card is linked. Keep saying have to call loyalty line.

    • +1

They're not authorised to do anything with reward/loyalty stuff.

Need to call the Signature number. Make sure you ask to speak to a banker, not Qantas or Reward dept.

The chat line is good to request to close your account.

      • Do you mean it‘s okay to use online chat to close account and request the refund?

        • Correct. They'll close the account and tell you how much fee you get back.

          • @timhn:

They'll close the account and tell you how much fee you get back

Exactly this, you don't need to request the refund

  • Anyone know if setting up the card with Beem It will trigger a cash advance or anything like that? Beem It does two small withdrawal transaction as Eftpos and then refunds it right?

    • Found the answer for anyone else wondering:

If you’re adding a credit card, we won’t actually withdraw the two tiny amounts from your bank account. They will appear as ‘pending’ then disappear after a few days.

  • +2

Just retrieved my new card from the mail box, applied 5 days ago.
The whole thing was relatively easy. Was not called, nor had to call/go anywhere. Just answered the questions and submitted two payslips.

    • -1

Do you bank with NAB (salary into NAB account)?
Just trying to figure out why they are so painful to deal with for some, and so easy with others.

      • +2

Hey, I had a similar experience.

I applied yesterday, was approved today. I don't bank with NAB or salary into NAB account. I filled in the form and submitted 2 payslips. No one called or anything.

      • +1

I bank with Ubank, but I don't think they are transparent to each other. Never had anything to do with NAB proper.
My situation has not changed substantially, but a year ago I got rejected by ANZ. This does not make much sense, does not really compute. Actually I think I had way more savings in my name at the time and was still receiving family tax benefits. Have three more cards but this one with its $15K limit more than doubles my exposure. I am on decent pay, no mortgage and am renting.

        • +2

          Thanks for the reply.
I can't make sense out of it (I think the banks can't themselves) - sometimes it looks more like a lottery (depending on the person you get processing the application).

        • Last year I tried to open a Zippay account and was rejected.

        • I also bank with UBank and I’m confident they can’t see either other. Just had my card blocked after 3 days use, they decided they want to see evidence of my pay reaching my bank account for the past 3 months. Not sure why they didn't do that before they gave me the card and let me use it for a bit. Absolute clowns working in this bank.

          • +1

@muncan: Just received a snail mail indicating why they blocked my account. One or more of my transactions seemed suspicious, hence the block.
            Either my 7 x $200 Coles ($50 off CHEERS20) transactions, or my 1x $49.95 Asahi / LatitudePay transaction.

After they unblocked me, I put some more $200 Coles CHEERS20 orders in for good measure 😂👍

    • Same here. But their chatline and telephone line is hopeless. Much like any other banks.

  • How many business days does this roughly take to be delivered (to a cap city)?

    • Closed to 8 days (2wks) for me last time. Sydney Metro.

      • Surprisingly I just received 2 letters from different banks dated mid Jan, just arrived today, about 5 weeks later. I am in Perth Metro.

  • +1

Apply Thursday night, submitted two payslips, no calls, approved Friday evening.

  • Anyone know or remember if these promotions get extended?

  • Applied, submitted 2 payslips and approved within 48h, card arrived within a week.

Need to call tomorrow to check QFF being linked but otherwise has been a relatively smooth process for me. (am government worker with 90K salary)

    • Any idea what the statement dates will be for the first month? Is it based on when approved or later date?

      • no clue sorry! It usually is based on the bank's statement periods not the approval time from previous experiences

  • Applied Wed midday, 2 payslips attached. Still waiting…

    • Hey, Have you got your application approved? I am also waiting for mine.

      • +1

Literally just got my approval email - 6 days!

    • +1

Partner applied on 9 Feb, still waiting … provided way too much information and looks like they're still not happy… (seems good credit score doesn't really make any difference).

      • I called them today and it seems that the ID Verification didn't go through eventhough I already went to the bank. I now have to go back to the bank to show them 100 points ID.

        • Seems like a lottery to get a competent person assigned to your application …

My partner has no patience anymore for NAB.
It would be a shame to have a credit check, meet all criteria and then not get CC after all.
They ask if your employed full time, but do want to call in the middle of the day, expecting you're free for 20minutes to ask stupid questions to verify identity and to only say to come to the branch. Or to ask additional information.
(And branches around here are also only open during business hours …)

          • @johnmelb: Yeah it's been very frustrating with NAB. My partner went to the branch again today for the ID verification and it seems that their systems not talking to each other. So then he had to wait for another 30 mins for the branch lady to call NAB to confirm yada yada yada.
And then lunch hour is gone.

  • +8

Finally got through, as others have said, QFF was not linked despite me defs putting it in the app.

PLEASE CALL AND LINK YOUR CARD IF YOU ARE GETTING THIS CC!!

I made a point of telling the lady that this is a common issue and it needs to be escalated so the software is fixed and she said she'd let her supervisor know lol so hopefully gets fixed

    • Just called and i was after 8pm

It wanted me to enter all of my details even after I selected the loyalty option. If I select loyalty and it's closed, don't make me enter my details and then tell me you can't help

  • When does the “60 days to spend $3k” start?
Above description in OP implies it’s 60 days from opening account. So if you’ve been approved and haven’t yet received the card, the clock is ticking.
Or is it 60 days from activation of the card?

    • Since approved dated.

  • Applied Friday afternoon; approved today!

  • How long does it take generally for points to be deposited after meeting spending requirements?

    • +1

Whenever your next statement is, + approx 1 day. You will get a statement 14 days after opening the account, and then one every month after that.

      • I just got my first statement after spending the required amount. It shows 4000 Qantas Point but didn't show me the bonus points. Is that normal?

        • Hey, I have the same issue. Did it work out for you?

          • @learner5: no. I called NAB and they said the bonus point will show up on the second statement. So I am just waiting for my second statement now…

  • if I had this nab card earlier this year and then cancelled it, would I qualify for the points if I submitted a new application?

    • +1

      12 months gap.

This bonus Qantas Points offer is not available to existing customers who have received or are entitled to receive NAB Qantas Rewards bonus Points for a new personal NAB Qantas Rewards credit card in the twelve months prior to the opening of a NAB Qantas Rewards Signature Card, NAB Qantas Rewards Premium Card or NAB Qantas Rewards Card account.

  • If I am not currently a FF member, do I have to sign up before I apply or will I get a FF membership as part of this application?

    • You’d have to sign up

      • Doesn’t nab allocate you one after applying if you’re not a member? I thought the application said somewhere nab would do this if you selected no

    • +1

You can add your QFF number later but it's a hassle. It's better to sign up first and add the QFF number during the application.

      • you have to call the anyway NAB seem to have a system issue linking the QFF account as above - make sure you call mine wasn't linked either

      • NAB will make it a hassle regardless.

      • Yep you have to call regardless.
        Mine also wasn’t linked.

  • I just applied (hour back), got conditionally approved, uploaded payslips.. But I have not received any email from NAB yet, not even saying something like 'you have applied for the credit card with the reference no'.. Definately provided correct email address.. When did guys got any email from NAB?

    • Got an email immediately after submission telling me to upload the documents.

      • Hmm, strange then I haven't got any yet.. Will call NAB to check my email id

      • +1

Received email now which is almost 2 hours after submitting my application

    • Now approved in less than 24hrs, new card on my way now.. that was very quick.. just submitted two payslips when applied, no calls, didn't need to visit the branch..

      • Same but I bank with them so always a easy process, I think a lot of people that don’t bank with them have issues so they need to go into branch or provide additional info.

        • I don't bank with them though..

  • +2

10 days after "provisional approval", application is still stuck with some guy named Krutik.. 5 fruitless phone calls so far, up there with the the worst banking experiences I've ever had (and believe me I've got some miles on the road in this department)

    • +1

Call this number 03 87773653 it may or may not get answered, the person on the other end however will be able to approve you straight away however providing of course you have given the required documents and everything matches up.

But after 10 days of provisional approval and no response I dare say something doesn’t add up and they may have knocked your application back and yet to close it out and send you the non approval email etc. Either way “if” that person answers at the number above I’ve given you they will be able to tell you straight away the situation or what’s needed.

      Good luck

      • +1

Finally approved… the ever growing list of documents they asked for was really absurd; unmatched by any other bank. The main problem, however, was this Krutik guy who evidently doesn't do the work assigned to him.

  • I've spent and paid off the minimum spend requirement and I've had the card for 2 weeks, can I cancel it now or wait for the points to arrive first - if so, how long does it typically take?
Also, as previously stated here, make sure your QFF account is linked as it wasn't when I called them up.

    • -2

      F

      • This isn’t COD or Reddit

        • -2

          Oh really?

    • -2

You’ll miss out on 25K points if you do and just get the 100k. If you really don’t need it, chop it up, wait a year then cancel after you’ve been given the extra points.

      • I'd rather cancel straight away and then be able to reapply in a year or 18 months (whenever the exclusion period is).

        • -1

          As A5tro said it's 12 months.

    • +3

Wait until the points are in your QFF account - which typical 1-2 days after the statement date, then you can cancel it.

    • +1

usually you need to wait to get the points before cancelling

  • how quickly do points appear? Spent the 3k in a few days due to big purchases.
Opened 7FEB, Statement on 16FEB shows the points.

    • hasn't shown up in Qantas yet.
Curious if anyone have cancelled the card before it gets transferred to Qantas?
Saw prior comments where someone got it on their first statement as well.

Is it a sure thing? or potential to loose the points?

    • +1

Did you call the NAB loyalty team to give your QFF number before the statement?

If you didn’t, you will have to call them and they will credit it on the next statement. It doesn’t track your QFF number automatically from the application.

      • just called - unbelievable. just as you said - it wasn't connected.

1st time ever - had this card multiple times.

guess i need to wait for another month for the points to come through!

  • Wondering if I can link my QFF number to my wife's Nab cc? Or does the name of QFF account need to match the Nab account?

    • +1

When I called to add my QFF they asked if it’s same name. Maybe call and just ask. Alternatively you can gift points

    • +1

From experience, the QFF and NAB accounts must match.
